Chapter 1596: Chapter 1693: Crown Prince Li Jianwu

The fourth competitor for the Pill Alliance was yet another name familiar to Fang Lin.

Ye Mengxian, the granddaughter of Elder Tiankui of bygone days, once the Master of North Town Hall.

When Fang Lin first joined North Town Hall, he had even taken Ye Mengxian as his mentor. Later, when Fang Lin became the Master of North Town Hall, Ye Mengxian declined the opportunity to advance into the upper echelons of the Pill Alliance and stayed to cultivate at Tiankui Pavilion.

Subsequently, after a dramatic upheaval within the Pill Alliance, Elder Tiankui retired and ceased to interfere in the affairs of the alliance, and there had been no news of Ye Mengxian since then.

Seven years later, Fang Lin finally heard the name Ye Mengxian again; it seemed that the Pill Alliance had called upon her to help revitalize their forces.

Ye Mengxian’s prowess in Alchemy Tao had already reached the level of a Master of Pill years ago. After all, she was personally instructed by Elder Tiankui, and her own talent was extraordinarily good; her achievements were naturally expected.

However, over these past years, Ye Mengxian’s attainments in Alchemy Tao have probably become even more profound, or else the Pill Alliance would not have sought her out to combat the alchemy families.

“Competitor for the alchemy families—Zhu Yunhai!” the Tang Emperor continued to announce the name of the fourth competitor for the alchemy families.

A Talent of the alchemy-famed Zhu Family, his reputation was also genuinely formidable, as the Zhu Family was also a prominent alchemy family ranked high in the hierarchy. When Fang Lin was at North Town Hall, he had some unpleasant encounters with the heirs of the alchemy Zhu Family, but it was mostly the Ling Family who targeted Fang Lin afterwards, while the Zhu Family merely fanned the flames in front of them.

By now, both the Pill Alliance and the alchemy families had four competitors confirmed, each with one remaining unannounced.

However, it was mostly guessed who the last person from the alchemy families would be, with the only mystery left concerning the last person from the Pill Alliance, a name unknown to most.

Finally, the Tang Emperor said, “The last competitor for the Pill Alliance—Chen Chong!”

The name of the last person was announced, but there was little reaction below; no one knew who Chen Chong was. Indeed, not a single person had heard the name Chen Chong before.

Even some former Pill Refiners of the Pill Alliance, after much pondering, still had no clue who Chen Chong was. It seemed that among the shining talents of the Pill Alliance from the past, there was simply no one named Chen Chong.

Fang Lin frowned, of the five competitors from the Pill Alliance, he recognized only three, and nothing was known about Xu Yanbing and Chen Chong.

“The Pill Alliance truly has some hidden Talents, now coming to light at this moment, but it’s uncertain what level they have reached,” Fang Lin said to himself.

“The last competitor for the alchemy families—Long Zhixin.” Having said that, the Tang Emperor handed the Jade Slip back to Dragon Haotian and the Heaven King of East Pole.

And indeed, this final choice for the alchemy families was as expected—Long Zhixin.

With that, the young generation’s contenders representing both the Pill Alliance and the alchemy families had been determined.

“The day after tomorrow is the official start of the competition. Those present in the Tang Capital at that time can come to witness, and see with their own eyes this peak showdown of the Alchemy Tao World!” declared the Tang Emperor.

The crowd below was thrilled, eager for the alchemy competition to start immediately, but they had to patiently wait until the day after tomorrow.

Those above in the Tang Tower—the Tang Emperor and his cohorts—had already departed, and the crowds gathered outside the imperial city were also dispersing. However, conversations continued unabated, as many were discussing the Pill Refiners announced today.

Fang Lin turned around and left, with Cheng Jinhai following behind like an attendant, heading towards the direction of the posthouse.

Along the way, Fang Lin was silent, seemingly deep in thought, and thus Cheng Jinhai, who followed behind, also didn’t dare to speak at will, for fear of disturbing Fang Lin.

When they reached a rather secluded street, Fang Lin stopped in his tracks as a squad of soldiers from Tang Country blocked their path ahead.

A smile played on the corners of Fang Lin’s mouth, while Cheng Jinhai behind him wore a look of confusion, completely at a loss.

“Is this the Mountain Master Cheng from Heng Long Mountain?” A deep voice rang out from behind the two men, and when Fang Lin and Cheng Jinhai turned around, they saw a valiant man in red armor approaching, with a squad of soldiers following behind him—not ordinary soldiers, as all wore dark golden armor, wielded silver spears, and had curved sabers at their waists, each exuding a menacing aura, simply standing there was enough to make ordinary people tremble in fear.

Especially the red-armored man, who stood a head taller than an adult, Cheng Jinhai was already tall, but the red-armored man was half a head taller than him.

Cheng Jinhai showed a look of fear, the pressure exerted by the man in red armor was immense, and he even had an air of imperial dignity about him, which made Cheng Jinhai involuntarily want to bow down in worship.

This feeling, Cheng Jinhai had experienced once before when he looked up at the Tang Emperor beneath the imperial city.

“I am indeed Cheng Jinhai, may I ask who you are?” Cheng Jinhai quickly bowed with folded hands and carefully asked, his heart in turmoil, unsure of the red-armored man’s intentions and what to do if they were ill-omened.

The red-armored man nodded, not looking at Cheng Jinhai, but instead focused his gaze on Fang Lin, who had changed his appearance.

“Then this must be Master Fang Lin.” The red-armored man said.

Fang Lin glanced at the man in red armor and asked calmly: “Who are you?”

The red-armored man cracked a slight smile, but his fiercely majestic appearance made it an unappealing sight.

“Li Zhongxin, whom you met yesterday, he is my royal brother.” The red-armored man said, nonchalantly.

This statement, however, took Cheng Jinhai by surprise, was this man actually the Crown Prince of Tang Country, Crown Prince Li Jianwu himself?

Cheng Jinhai knew that the Crown Prince was a ruthless man. In past years, several Sects from Tang Country had been itching to defect to Yuan Country and after the royal family got wind of it, the Crown Prince had led the army of Tang Country along with numerous masters to completely annihilate those Sects.

It is said that the heads of all those killed from those Sects were hung in front of their respective Sect gateways, sparing neither children nor women, which greatly startled the other Sects of Tang Country, harboring deep resentment towards the Crown Prince.

Because of Li Jianwu’s excessively brutal actions, he was criticized widely, and that is why the Tang Emperor publicly reprimanded him in front of all officials.

Nevertheless, Li Jianwu continued to act on his own accord, arguably the most feared among the many Princes.

“So, it is the Crown Prince, this old man pays his respects to the Crown Prince.” Cheng Jinhai bent over to salute Li Jianwu, but the latter did not even glance at Cheng Jinhai, clearly not taking him seriously.

“Master Fang, since you’ve come to Tang Capital, why not be a guest at my Prince’s Mansion?” Li Jianwu said with a grin.
