Chapter 27: Heading for Jixia Academy

Consort Ye only spent two days at Ye Manor. Once she had ensured that Ye Sheng would be admitted to Jixia Academy, she went back to the palace with the emperor that very night. She had a young daughter waiting for her after all.
After Consort Ye left, everyone in the manor looked differently at Ye Sheng.
Ye Sheng didn’t care about any of them. After he’d taken his leave of Lord Ye, he returned to his little courtyard and started packing his meager supply of clothing. He was going to leave Ye Manor the next day and head for Jixia Academy.
Jixia Academy had just finished their intake for the year not too long ago, so the school term had just started. Ye Sheng would still be able to catch up.
Since this edict was by the order of the emperor, Ye Sheng wasn’t worried that Lord Ye would try to stop him.
In fact, Lord Ye came to Ye Sheng’s little courtyard that very night.
“Father, what brings you here?” Ye Sheng was shocked as he quickly ran out to receive Lord Ye.
Lord Ye stared at Ye Sheng with a cold and distant gaze and said, “You’re leaving Ye Manor tomorrow, so I came over to have a look at you. Now, you’re like a dragon that has emerged from the constraints of the sea, and you’re going to soar to great heights?”
Ye Sheng quietly replied, “Father, I just wish to be able to mature independently.”
“If your Eldest Sister hadn’t protected you today, I would have seriously wounded you so that you would have become worthless for the rest of your life because you secretly learned martial arts,” said Lord Ye, not bothering to be polite at all.
Ye Sheng clenched his fists tightly and fury overwhelmed his heart. But his rational side told him to hold it in. He calmly asked, “I know I was in the wrong, and I am grateful for your mercy to me. Have you come here tonight to warn me about something?”
“Relax. Since your Eldest Sister is bent on protecting you, then I won’t punish you according to the rules of this house. You’re already 16, and now His Majesty has guaranteed your admission to Jixia Academy. Remember, do not ruin the reputation of Ye Manor,” said Lord Ye in a low voice.
“Don’t worry, Father, I will take note of this,” replied Ye Sheng respectfully.
“Once you’re in Jixia Academy, you will be able to learn martial arts in a systematic fashion. In the past, I didn’t allow you to learn martial arts because I hoped that you could live an ordinary life. But since you have chosen to walk down this path, then you should be committed to it. You have three older brothers in Jixia Academy as well, so if anything happens, you can look to them for help,” said Lord Ye.
“I will remember that.” Ye Sheng remained as respectful as ever.
“By the way, what move did you use to defeat Ye Qing earlier?” asked Lord Ye all of a sudden.
Ye Sheng’s heart pounded wildly for a moment, as he realized that this was what Lord Ye had really come here for. He replied, “That’s the compressed Qi that I had kept within my dantian earlier. I suddenly let everything out, and Ye Qing wasn’t prepared for it at all.”
Lord Ye just looked emotionlessly at Ye Sheng, and Ye Sheng wasn’t sure if his father believed him or not.
“Since you want to leave Ye Manor, then you’d better go early tomorrow morning. Ye Manor cannot keep you any longer.” Lord Ye then turned and left.
Ye Sheng watched Lord Ye walk out of his courtyard. Under the crescent moon, his body stood straight and he stayed outside as many things went through his mind. But he didn’t say anything more to his father and finally turned to walk back into his little courtyard.
Inside his room...
Ye Sheng lay on the bed and quietly thought through some matters. Lord Ye had behaved very strangely today and had acted very differently from Ye Sheng’s memories of Lord Ye. In the past, if Lord Ye had found out that Ye Sheng had learned martial arts secretly, there was definitely only one way that this matter would have ended. He would have been beaten up, and his dantian would have been destroyed. Even if he didn’t die, he would have been incapacitated for sure.
But it seemed as if because Consort Ye was around today, Lord Ye had held himself back. He didn’t punish Ye Sheng at all, and even after knowing that Ye Sheng wanted to leave the manor to break free of the shackles of this household, Lord Ye didn’t stop him either.
“Lord Ye seems to be a little afraid of Eldest Sister,” thought Ye Sheng quietly to himself.
Ye Sheng didn’t think it was merely because Eldest Sister was now a consort. Even if she were a consort, she was still his daughter, so why would Lord Ye be wary of offending her?
From Ye Sheng’s observations earlier, Lord Ye had looked as if he had wanted to hit the roof several times, but because Consort Ye was sitting next to him, he held it in and didn’t flare up.
And the way Eldest Sister treated the rest of Ye Manor didn’t seem like how someone from a younger generation would treat the family. Her personality was incredibly domineering. She talked back to the Old Lady, reprimanded First Madam, and even spoke casually to Lord Ye. Her dominance in this house was overwhelming.
When Ye Sheng sifted through his memories, he realized that this sort of domineering behavior had started showing itself even when Eldest Sister was still living in Ye Manor, before she had left for the palace.
“Forget it, there’s no point in thinking so much about it anyway. It’s better to have a good rest and head for Jixia Academy tomorrow.” Ye Sheng closed his eyes and decided not to think about all these things any longer.
His cultivation level was too low to fight, and these things weren’t directly related to him either anyway. The most important thing to do now was to become stronger as quickly as possible.
He closed his eyes and began to watch the changes in his dantian, Earth.
After he had passed on several techniques to them, the Earthlings had slowly started their journey of cultivation, and more and more people had successfully reached the Beginner stage of the techniques.
There were now 300 people at Acquired Level First Stage. It had been barely two weeks, and the majority of them were only at the Novice Phase of Acquired Level First Stage, but it was clear from their potential that they were definitely still geniuses since they were the first batch to reach this stage out of 1.4 billion people on Earth.
There were even 50 people at Acquired Level Second Stage. Their speed was pretty phenomenal.
“Once I get into Jixia Academy, I’ll have to look for more manuals and pass everything on to Earth, so that everyone on Earth can practice martial arts. That way, I will be able to mature quickly.” Ye Sheng had already planned his road ahead.
Jixia Academy wasn’t solely the product of this current dynasty. Back when the Dragon dynasty formed this nation, it had founded Jixia Academy. At its peak, it supposedly had 3,000 scholars, and everyone’s eyes were on the school.
But later on, the Dragon dynasty became chaotic and its court officials became extremely corrupt, so Jixia Academy went on the decline as well. When Great Qin took over the nation, Jixia Academy was completely razed to the ground. The countless books they owned were all sealed off inside Great Qin’s national storage grounds, and everything was kept sealed for 20 years.
Then, 20 years later, the Second Emperor of Qin took the throne and reinstated Jixia Academy, and all its books were shipped back to the academy’s library. It immediately attracted the best scholars and martial artists around the world, so they all joined the academy, and it soon became a new faction of power.
This was all Ye Sheng knew. He didn’t know any further details.
The next day, Ye Sheng had already packed everything and left Ye Manor as dawn broke.
Then again, he didn’t have much to pack anyway. He didn’t own anything, except for the 300 pieces of gold that Consort Ye had left him before leaving. He could leave everything else behind.
The main gate of Ye Manor was extremely grand. The two sides of the metal gate opened and Ye Sheng walked out with his bag of things.
There wasn’t a single person on the streets. The two huge stone lions stood proudly at the gate. They were subject to the beating of the wind and rain, but they still looked new, so they were certainly made from very expensive materials.
Ye Sheng was feeling very relaxed. Everything he had endured since the day he’d transmigrated was for the sake of the freedom he had achieved right now.
Some days ago, Ye Sheng had left Ye Manor also, but that was only to pay respects to his mother, and he’d had to return after that. But today was completely different.
Ye Sheng was filled with energy and confidence as he carried his bag and walked along the streets with a bounce in his step as he made his way toward the city gates.
Jixia Academy was not within the city of Xianyang. There was a mountain range about 100 miles from Xianyang, and the large academy had been built there.
That was going to be the place where Ye Sheng would eventually rise from the miserable condition he’d been in.
Ye Sheng’s departure didn’t really change anything in Ye Manor. In fact, there were a number of people who couldn’t wait for Ye Sheng to leave. The Old Lady was one of them. She found out first thing in the morning that Ye Sheng had left, and she was so happy that she ate more than usual.
But First Madam’s expression was terrifyingly dark. She didn’t want Ye Sheng to leave Ye Manor and enter Jixia Academy.
There were also those like Hu Mei and Ye Qing, who felt very upset about Ye Sheng’s departure. Ye Qing started throwing a fit and wanted to send someone to kill Ye Sheng.
