The dragon's harem

Chapter 1383 - 1383: Guardian Demons

After Rey and Ray left, Arad asked Kali about the powers she gave them. For all he knew, her destruction powers were clear, but what about the orphan ones?

The first power Kali gave them was called BANKEN, the guardian demon dog. Each of them can summon a massive, demonic hound to protect them or any location they desire. Those demonic dogs are powerful enough to give a dragon a run for its money. Those dogs can be powered up based on the summoner’s power, so Kali expects the Bankens that the two would summon to be powerful enough to stand up to even Arad.

The second power she granted them was called blessed food. If they have a pot of any food, they should cover it up and only take the food from underneath the cover without revealing it. By doing that, the food will never run out. It also works with water.

The third power she gave them was called Sanctuary. It would create a safe zone where neither cold nor heat can get through. Even damage is forbidden inside, so anyone is safe inside.

The last power she gave them was a flexible combination of the previous three called Divine Luck. Kali would send several sneaky demons to follow the orphans and help them from the shadows. If they were lost in the forest, the demons would slay any monster that get close and drop food nearby. They’ll even cover the kids at night if it gets a bit too cold. So that luck isn’t really luck, but demons helping from the shadows.

Kali waved her hand and showed Arad something that was happening at that very moment. A carriage had fallen off a cliff, and everyone inside got killed beside two brothers, one four years old and the other five years old.

The two siblings emerged from the carriage, terrified and badly bruised. The little one kept crying, but the one a bit older grabbed him and dragged him away from the cliff.

The rain was cold, and everyone in the carriage was probably dead. They should find shelter and wait for help. The two soon found a cave that housed a massive blood bear. But when the two kids walked inside, the bear was nowhere to be found. It was devoured and ripped apart by a harrowing demon that made even Arad shiver.

As the two boys settled in the shadows of the cave, shivering from the cold, the demon was hiding just a few meters inside, masked by the shadows.

The older boy looked inside his small sack, where he had one apple stored for a snack. Now, this was all they had to eat. The two brothers split it up between them. But of course, it wasn’t enough, not when they were freezing. As the little brother kept crying, the older one showed him the sack to show him that they didn’t have any food left. But to his surprise, two large and plump apples dropped out.

Where did the apples come from? The demon put them there.

As the two brothers fell asleep, the demon went out and rampaged in the forest, drawing the attention of adventures and making them chase it. Once he got close to the cave, he fought them and died on purpose.

The adventurers then searched the cave and found the two brothers. Of course, the demon’s job wasn’t over. As the adventurers’ carriage rolled across the hills, he had already resurrected from the abyss and was now shapeshifted into a tiny rat hidden in the supply barrels. His job would only end when the two boys either found a family or were dropped in one of Kali’s orphanages.

Kali smiled, looking at Arad, “Do you think someone who harms orphans or children would have the pleasure of being killed by an angel? Hell no, I’ll have them eaten and ripped apart by the most appalling and disgusting demons ever.”

Kali jumped back on the chair to let Diana finish brushing her hair. “Even you had the most harrowing demon of them all around.”

Arad blinked, “Wait, me? I’m not an orphan.”

Kali looked at him with a smile, “An orphan is a child without one or both of his parents actively providing for them. You were dropped in the world alone. Of course, I’ll count you as an orphan.” She looked at him with a smug face, “Guess who’s the demon who was around.”

“Who?”

“Of course, that was me. I live in Alina as well, don’t you remember? You could always see me around.” She then pointed at the door, “I would’ve stepped out if you were in trouble.”

Diana looked at her, “I finished. Arad must now go meet Lucifer, and I’ll take his other incarnation to space.”

Kali looked at her with a sad face, “Really? I wanted to talk with him a bit more.”

Diana shook her head, “No, he is busy, busier than you, at least. For now, go play with Valeria and Serin.” She grabbed her by the shoulders and lifted her up, then put her on the ground and tapped her back. “Go!”

Soon, Arad split into two. One left with Diana, and the other went to find Lucifer, which didn’t take him long at all. Lucifer was waiting in his throne room.

“What matters do we have left?” Arad asked.

Through his whole stay here, he had found a fragment of creation and even got a group of talented archers to help his empire rise quickly. He had already gotten so much, so he now expects it’s time to give back to Lucifer instead.

“I’ve already sent all the documents to Lady Aella. What we have left now is to find someone.” He approached Arad, and the two left the castle, heading straight to the city below.

As Arad and Lucifer walked through the busy streets, Arad noticed that everyone looked at them strangely. Not because Lucifer was their ruler and casually walking through the street, but because Arad was there.

Arad knew that he would stand out a lot, if nothing else, then because he was three meters tall, and everyone else rarely reached close to two meters.

“See all those people? I informed them earlier that you’ll be picking up one or two people to work as ambassadors. Pick anyone you like, interview them if you want, and I’ll get everything else sorted out.” Lucifer leaned on one of the stalls, picked an apple, and took a bite, “Also, everything is already paid for, detectible from their taxes. So take anything you want.”

Arad looked at him, “So that apple?”

Lucifer looked at the old man behind the stall, “How much is the apple.”

“Five coppers, my lord. The price is already written on that tag over there.”

“Then it’s five coppers less you have to pay in taxes.” Lucifer smiled and looked at Arad, “I’ll be walking around. Find me when you are done.”
