The dragon's harem

Chapter 1288 - 1288: The Burning Hold

As Arad flew across the whole Storm Titan’s Kingdom, his incarnation in the Volcanic Titan’s Kingdom alongside Tempo had finally finished dealing with the swarm of the Titanic Lava Krakens. It was long and exhausting for Tempo.

As the two now stood above the surface of the lava pool, Tempo looked at the floating bodies of the Krakens with a frown. Those were the mighty beasts guarding their kingdom, but now they were reduced to mere monsters.

“Let’s go.” He looked at the walls of the great city and frowned. While they were fighting the Krakens, the Lava Spawns created by Damnation kept pelting them with javelins and arrows from afar. Arad was able to catch some javelins and send them flying back at the Lava Spawns, but many of them remained alive since he couldn’t destroy their souls from range.

Damnation had long since retreated into the bowels of the lava pool, and the only way to follow her was using the throat of the volcano that is located in the middle of the city, protected in the obsidian tower, which acts as the Royal Castle where Tempo lives.

Arad and Tempo flew toward the city walls as they dodged the barrage of sundering attacks from the Lava spawns. Those burning monsters weren’t that accurate with their shots, especially when rushed. They had time to aim while Arad and Tempo fought the Krakens, but now that the two were charging forward, the Lava Spawns couldn’t aim anymore and were forced to retreat.

The main weakness of archers is that they are pretty much dead if the foot soldiers reach them. That is why the archers of the Lava Spawns soon stopped firing and retreated back, leaving a few of them as melee fighters to stall Arad and Tempo.

That didn’t work well for them.

Arad and Tempo ripped their way through the few melee Lava Spawns as if they were nothing. As the two charged forward, they heard fighting from afar. Arad noticed that the Volcanic Titans weren’t eradicated by the abominations. The survivors were still putting up resistance in several fortified holds around the massive city.

Arad and Tempo quickly shifted their direction and rushed toward those holds to support the surviving Titans, which couldn’t have happened sooner. While Damnation in Vulkan’s body was powerful, her dominion extended to the Lava pool and not the Titans themselves.

That thing mostly used Vulkan’s power to fight, which was controlling heat like puppets. As long as something is hot enough, Damnation could give it shape and autonomous ability to move and fight to a certain degree.

As Damnation used that power to create thousands of Lava Spawns from the pool to surround the city and even spawned them inside the walls, the Volcanic Titans were quickly overwhelmed and were forced to retreat.

The remaining survivors couldn’t believe their eyes as they saw Tempo rushing in toward them while ripping the Lava Spawns apart. They were even more thrilled when they saw him being accompanied by such a tall and powerful Titan woman.

To Titans, their height was the measure of their raw talent and potential. With how they saw Arad fight and how tall he was, they all thought that Tempo had found her somewhere outside. And most of them couldn’t believe how a Titan of her size and talent was lost to their kingdom.

Soon, Arad and Tempo slid into the fortified hold.

The Titans rushed to close the gate behind them and pelted the rushing Lava spawns with arrows.

“Your Highness!” A Titan that stood barely three hundred meters tall looked like a small animal compared to Arad and Tempo, which both stood at 1.9 and 2.4 kilometers in height. The sheer scale was unconscionable to humans. Even the smallest and weakest titans in this hold could decimate a whole kingdom, yet all Arad could see were women and children huddled around each other, injured and terrified. The men weren’t as lucky as most of them were either corpses or on their way to becoming ones.

The hold was on the verge of falling after many long and deadly battles against the powerful Lava spawns. One thing was clear. This hold wasn’t where the Royal guards or even the army of the Volcanic Titans hid. It was a mere disaster shelter where the commoners holed up to save themselves.

Arad looked around with a frown. This was the evident for farmers to end up hiding inside an abandoned mine to fight monsters with nothing more than pitchforks as weapons and their bodies as meat shields to protect their weakest.

This wasn’t the kind of Titans that Tempo needed if he wanted to storm the obsidian tower and kill Damnation. And those Titans knew it.

The three-hundred-meter Titan took Arad and Tempo inside the inner hold and showed them to the supply room. “Food, water, weapons, everything we got that might be of use. We’ll hold as long as we can. You two can sneak out the back and head west. The city guards should be hiding in one of the holds there.” His face was pale and somber.

“What about you?” Tempo glared at him, and the Titan forced a smile.

“As I said, we’ll hold as long as we can. It is a much better option for Your Majesty to find the soldiers and liberate the obsidian tower from that monster than being slowed down by us. We’re nothing more than a dead weight.” The man’s eyes shifted toward Arad.

“May I ask? Who is she? How come that such a huge Volcanic Titan was outside, unknown to us?” He had never seen a Volcanic Titan that tall, let alone a woman and one with red hair with golden tips like that of Tempo.

The Titan then froze, “Wait! Don’t tell me she is an illegitimate kid of your father? Did you go out to find her?”

Tempo held his face and sighed, “No, no, and one last no.” He then looked at Arad, “Humans are small and fine. But what about the Titans?”

“I only got around two kilometers of useable space if I want to not feel constrained.” Arad looked at the three-hundred-meter-tall Titans. He can’t hide hundreds of Titans like him in the small world inside his stomach. He can send them into the void, but supplying them with air would be a daunting task. Not to mention how terrifying that might be for the kids.

Tempo frowned. If their enemy was anything besides that horror Damnation, Arad would’ve been fine to constrain himself. But since Raptur managed to escape, Arad didn’t want to pull any punches against Damnation and sneak attack her with his full power.

“I understand. There is nothing we can do.” Tempo shook his head, but Arad immediately smiled.

“I can’t store them, but I can send them to my kingdom as long as they promise not to cause trouble. And let me stress. A Titan kid can pretty much blast through my castle with ease, so keep your children in check.”
