Chapter 780 - Gone Wrong
Arena, Ishtar Academy.
The crowd was bustling in excitement as they cheered for their favourites. The battle going on was exciting as well. No one would have ever expected to witness a battle with so much surprise, and the Elemental Beast Core was definitely the biggest among them.
"Woah!!!!"
The crowd suddenly erupted in thunderous cheers when Arthur took everyone by surprise, and successfully eliminated Melan. And, then next second another surprise came as Tia got eliminated while August destroyed the giant golem and successfully seized the core.
"What an idiotic thing to do?" Uncle Giant in the Teddy bear suit shook his head. To him Arthur had made a fatal mistake in evaluating the two opportunities. A trade for the Beast core with Tia, was definitely not worth it.
Bahamut too was looking at the scene with a frown on his face. This really was a foolish move on Arthur's side. But, from what he had known about the guy, it didn't seem like he was the kind to make the wrong decision even if he was under pressure.
At this moment, the situation suddenly took a sharp turn when the Elemental core in August's hand cracked.
The common people didn't seem to have much of an idea about this, but all the Mages in the crowd were dumbfounded, but only those at higher levels actually panicked.
"Stop this now!!!" A roar erupted from one of the stands, and a figure immediately flew from one of the pavilions. On a closer look, everyone identified this fellow, it was actually Lord of Barne's House, Ander Barnes.
He had a dark look on his face, and several other figures immediately flew after him as well. This left a lot of people in confusion, they had no idea what was going on. From what they heard, the safety system of the competition was very strong, and there hadn't been a single death until now.
"What's going on?" Bahamut asked Uncle giant in confusion. He could feel that something was wrong, otherwise it didn't make sense for these people to panic like that.
Uncle giant on the other hand had stood up as well in panic, "This is bad! I don't know why that kid decided to perform a suicide attack, but he seems to have miscalculated things.."
"Miscalculated?" A little frown appeared on Bahamut's face.
"Yes, that kid trusted the formation below a bit too much. The explosion from the core would at least be powerful as a blow from a Grandmaster Tier Mage and at max, a Supreme. And, I don't think the formations here were built while keeping that level of battle in mind. "
Bahamut's eyes widened in surprise as he spoke, "You mean the formation will break?"
"It's very likely…" Uncle Giant nodded.
"What about them then?" Bahamut further asked.
"Umn….it's hard to say.." Uncle Giant shook his head after a slight pause. Even he had no idea what would happen. But, the chances of them dying were definitely high.

But, the fluctuations from the core had caused a sandstorm, and things were not visible anymore.

Supervisory Room
"Hurry up!! Pull everyone out!!!" Rufus's face was dark as he hurriedly commanded all his personnel, and began to control the formation as he tried to bring everyone out of it.
The Formation Master at the core was sweating buckets as he poured all his mana into the huge formation, there were several other supporting masters who were doing their utmost as well.
No one in their worst dreams had imagined the things to take this route all of a sudden.
'Even though this is bad, it is helpful to me in another sense..' Rufus thought internally. He knew that the formation would break for sure. He was there when this thing was laid down, and the personnel had just made it strong enough to be able to withstand the attack of an Early stage Grandmaster.
After all, there were only students fighting each other this time, and the Ancient Families didn't think that they would be able to do much damage. Hence, it was a waste of resources to make it on the same level as that of the Orca where they even had Mystic Tier Beasts inside.
As for why this situation would be helpful to him, well it would block all the problems for him. There was no way for anyone to confirm that he had overlooked suspicious people in the competition after this chaos.
"Whoosh!"
Suddenly the mana in the room plunged into chaos, and the formation on the ground began let out glow.
"Move!" Rufus shouted, and everyone immediately got into action.
"Boom!"
A second later, an explosion shook the place, and at the same time the broadcast of the competition was cut off.
The lively atmosphere soon was gone, and replaced by worried looks on people's faces.
Bahamut too sat there with a frown on his face.

Competition Ground
A few minutes earlier..
"Oh my…that idiot sure wants to die.." Victor, who was now disguised as Xenon, spoke to Arnold, who had a dark look on his face. The guy was clenching his fist so hard that it was shaking. It was very obvious that Arthur's action had pissed him off.
'Why?!' Arthur's actions were like sharp needles piercing through him. 'Is he naive? Does he not know that I want to hurt him?'
Arnold believed that Arthur already should have seen enough signs to doubt Arnold by now, and up his guard against him. But, this was totally opposite to that.
"Sh*t!!"
Xenon's panicked voice entered Arnold's ear, and he turned his head to look at the fellow with a weird look on his face.
"We are about to die!!" Victor was in no mood to play games now.
"What are you talking about?" Arnold asked with a frown.
"Move! Get them out, and run from this place! That thing exploding is going to destroy this place, and might as well kill us with it.." Victor said with a dark look on his face, as a strange aura erupted from his body, and it immediately sent chills down Arnold's spine.
He clearly hadn't expected this sudden change in Xenon. It was clear that this guy was not someone normal, "Who are you?"
"That's not important now.." Victor ignored the guy, and raised his hands as an invisible power pulled Faryl, August and Arthur towards him who were now unconscious from the terrible pressure that crashed down on them.
"Take him!" Victor threw Arthur towards Arnold, and took August and Faryl with him.
After all, in this situation, he deemed Faryl and August to be more important as one was his Ruler's brother and the other was a part of the team.
In the worst case, if Arnold took advantage of the situation, the one to die would be Arthur, and he had nothing for that guy. And, in that situation, he would obviously have to kill Arnold as well.
It would be a pity if things ended up like this, but he had no choice here, did he?
