Chapter 2087: Because out here… You will see us.
“Are you ready?”
Aeliana questioned as she glanced at the screen in front of her. The screen showed everything that was happening in Vael’Terros through a Mercenary Guild Leader’s eyes.
Yes, he was the one Melia had captured and, using her abilities, had gotten complete control over.
Nux, who was watching everything play out, nodded. He then turned towards his Melia, and the Vampire nodded.
The Vampire then raised her hand—
Snap
She snapped and—
BOOOOOOOM
The body of the Mercenary Guild Leader they had captured suddenly burst into pieces, gore and blood spreading all over Vael’Terros as the incident attracted every being’s attention.
What the hell…?
He just… died?
But how…?
Who killed him?
And why?
Why would anyone do something so foolish when they were in the presence of the Supreme Borns?
Thousands of questions appeared in everyone’s head, and as if to answer those questions, the Mercenary Guild Leader’s blood and gore that was spread all over the world suddenly trembled, as if an unknown force was squeezing all the leftover energy from it.
The squeezed-up energy then gathered right above and transformed into big crimson screens. Yes, wherever the blood and gore had fallen, a screen was there, effectively covering the entirety of Vael’Terros, making sure every being here could see it.
And on the screen, he appeared.
A tall man cloaked in black and silver robes that shimmered with strange energy. His face was covered in a black veil, his golden eyes, however, looked as if they were staring into one’s very soul.
“A good day to you all.”
He spoke. His voice sounded so charming that for an instant, a few weaker Guild Masters lost themselves. The stronger ones, however, stared at the screen closest to them with a grim look on their faces.
They could see it—whatever that was happening, it was anything but good.
The man on the screen was insane, and honestly, none of them wanted to know what he wanted to say, especially not in the presence of the Supreme Borns.
Of course, the Supreme Borns were different. They stared at the screens, curious—especially Darkness. His crimson eyes shined brightly as his grin widened.
Clearly, this was a lot more interesting than whatever they were initially sent here to do. Darkness was actually looking forward to what the little man in the screen had to say.
Yes, he was willing to generously spend his time to see what the other party had to say—that was how generous and fair he was.
Of course, the others weren’t the same.
Without waiting any longer, Eternity waved his hand, and one of the screens hovering in the air trembled and floated towards him.
Eternity looked into the man’s eyes, but there was no change in the man’s expression. It seemed like he couldn’t see through the screen. Eternity’s hollow eyes stared at the screen as the grimoire in his hand moved on its own.
Within a second, he turned towards Balance and—
“Work of a Blood Race.”
He revealed.
“Where are they?”
Balance questioned, but Eternity shook his head.
“I cannot find them.”
“…what?”
Balance’s expression changed.
The Darkness, on the other hand, grinned even further. He was somewhat worried that this might end before it even began, but the little man was much more entertaining than he believed.
Darkness made up his mind—he wouldn’t make his death as painful as he initially would have.
That would be his reward for entertaining him.
“If you’re done trying,
Shall we now begin?”
Suddenly, the man on the screen spoke. His tone was condescending, as if he knew these people were trying to find him, but he was so sure that they would fail that he simply did not care.
His tone made the Guild Masters beneath tremble; they had never heard someone use such a tone in front of the Supreme Borns. The Supreme Borns, however, did not react.
They simply allowed the man to continue. He had successfully gotten their attention, so they wanted to know what he was trying to do.
“I am sure you are curious who I am.”
The man began, his voice calm—too calm, in fact.
“I am just one voice… in a storm that is coming.
One voice among many.”
He spread his arms dramatically.
“You may call us the Chain Breakers.”
He announced. Heck, there was even a little lightning crackling behind him as he announced his name. It seemed like it was done to raise the impact even further.
“…”
“…”
The Guild Masters stared at the screen with deadpan looks on their faces.
Just… what the hell was he doing…?
They couldn’t understand.
Was he trying to joke around in front of the Supreme Borns?
Or does he not know the Supreme Borns were seeing everything he was doing?
The man, oblivious to their thoughts, just looked at them through the screen and—
“For trillions of years, you have bent your heads before the Supremes. You have served, killed, bled, and died—because someone above told you it was necessary.”
He spoke, his voice growing firmer.
“Peace? Justice? Balance?”
He scoffed.
“No. These are chains.
Beautiful, golden chains.”
His gaze turned cold.
“You think you are free because you get to live. But what is life when your soul can be ripped apart on command? What is order when a flick of a finger can erase fifty-six entire worlds—and they dare to act surprised?”
For a moment, the man paused. The Guild Leaders frowned. The man stepped closer to the screen; for some reason, the action made his presence seem a bit bigger.
“We destroyed those fifty-six worlds.”
He announced, this time, as if he was looking at the Supreme Borns.
“We did not do it for revenge, nor was it for power.
We destroyed them because they were yours and you needed them.
That’s what a War is.”
He declared, and in an instant, heavy silence fell on the place.
War.
That was quite a grand word, especially when used in front of the strongest forces in the world.
Was… was this man challenging the Supreme Worlds…?
The Guild Leaders couldn’t even comprehend this concept.
Just who in their right mind would even dare to do something so foolish?
“We are not afraid to burn what you value if it means breaking your throne. And to those watching who think we are evil… remember this—”
He raised a hand.
“We are not the ones who punish truth with soul-ripping torment.
We are not the ones who demand loyalty through fear.”
His voice dropped low, almost a whisper.
“We do not believe in mercy that comes after the screams.”
These words seemed to specifically target Light—saying what no one else dared to say…
The Darkness’s grin widened even further. He had now decided to make his death even less painful. This was far too entertaining.
Of course, the man didn’t know what he was thinking, neither did he care. His voice rose again and,
“We are the Chain Breakers. We are the fire that will melt the illusion of peace that you people have created.
Keep this in mind…”
His eyes glinted and—
“This is merely the beginning.”
He grinned, his voice becoming more and more terrorizing.
“We destroyed 56 Mercenary Worlds that wanted nothing more than just to serve you.
And we’ll do it again—not just the Mercenary Worlds,
We will destroy every world that bows to you.
We will erase every being that serves you.
We will drag your name through blood and ash.
We will show your so-called ’followers’ what happens when they put faith in ’false gods’.
And when they look to you for help—
You. Will. Do. Nothing.
Because that is the truth you fear the most, isn’t it?
That you, the oh-so-mighty ’Supreme Worlds’—
Cannot protect what’s yours.”
He announced, and heavy, terrifying silence fell over the place. The man on the screen stared right at the Supreme Borns, his golden eyes shining so clearly that it… was overwhelming them?
Before the Supreme Borns could even understand this odd feeling, the man on the screen stepped even closer. The light around him shimmered with chaotic energy, distorting the space behind his figure.
“This is what is going to happen now—
From this day,
Your rule will rot.
Your influence will burn.
And your name…
It will no longer command fear, but suspicion and doubt.
The people will begin to question.
If the mighty Supremes cannot stop a few of us…
Then how mighty are you, really?
Your word will lose its weight.
Your decrees will be challenged.
And your silence will scream louder than any threat you’ve ever made.
You will watch your power erode.
Kingdoms will laugh in private.
Worlds will hesitate to kneel.
You will be turned into a myth.
A ghost of what once ruled.
And when the questions turn to mockery…
Do you know what you will do in return?”
The man questioned. His tone was now even more mockful.
“You will retreat.”
He announced.
“You will retreat into your Worlds, behind your Infinities.
You will cower.
And your Palaces of eternal light will become your Prison—Prisons with no Gates because you, the Prisoners, would never want to leave.
After all—
You will be too terrified of stepping into a Universe that no longer bows.
Because out here…
You will see us.”
