Chapter 2045: A way to prove my words.
Just as Nux was prepared to leave,
Bzzz
’Oh?’
The Call Artifact he didn’t think would activate anytime soon buzzed.
It was the Artifact he had given to Sharon Nocthys.
’This looks much more interesting.’
Shadow chuckled.
It wasn’t just her, the rest of the women gathered together as well, interested in what was going to happen.
Nux, sensing their excitement, laughed as he then picked the call and a familiar face appeared in front of him.
“It has been a while, Lady Sharnoth.”
He greeted with his signature smile.
“I must admit, I didn’t think you would call this soon.”
Sharnoth stared at Nux in silence.
Nux did the same. Seeing as how the only thing around her was the black-purple nebula of energy and no walls, ceiling, floor, or anything else could be seen, Nux realized that she had already activated her domain.
Just like he had requested in their first meeting.
“I take it that you are finally prepared to have a conversation now.”
Nux muttered, his smile much wider than before, almost resembling a demon who had successfully tricked an innocent woman and trapped her in his schemes.
His smile made Sharnoth uncomfortable, but she didn’t show anything on her expressionless face.
“Just out of curiosity though, where is he? My ’dear’ father.”
“…he escaped.”
Sharnoth answered with a hesitant look on her face.
“What…?”
Nux’s expression changed.
“When I activated my domain, he escaped.”
“And you want me to believe that?”
Nux narrowed his eyes.
Sharnoth was one of, if not the strongest Eternal Level Beings in this entire Universe. It was pretty much impossible to escape from her domain as long as she does not want you to. That was simply how quick her reflexes were.
Sure, that Soul Father of his was once the Progenitor of the Strongest World in this Universe. He himself was probably one of the strongest beings in existence.
But right now, he was nothing more than a shadow of his former self. He was extremely weakened, so much so that just activating a bit of his remaining power was enough for the Universe to react and devour him.
Someone like Zylarith should never be able to escape Sharnoth. The woman could simply will it, and he would be powerless in her domain.
“I thought you would be much more open for an honest conversation since this is the second time you contacted me, but I guess I wa—”
“I tried to capture him, but when I did capture it, I realized that he was never with me to begin with. It was just his projection made from an artifact I had never seen before.”
Sharnoth answered.
“What…?”
“I know you do not believe me, especially considering everything that has happened between us so far,
So I came up with a way,
A way to prove my words.”
Nux raised his eyebrow, interested.
“Carry on.”
He nodded, letting the woman continue, and after a brief pause,
The woman took out an artifact made of twisted silver, thin like old tree roots. Seven sharp blue gems stuck out from the top.
Nux frowned, and as if knowing what he was thinking, Sharnoth continued.
“This is the Crown of Chronicles, an Artifact that reads one’s memories.”
Nux narrowed his eyes at those words. Sharnoth, however, just stared at him with a determined look on her face and,
“I will wear this, and within a few minutes, it will record all my memories from the time I was born. You can then have this artifact and watch my memories however you wish.
The Artifact will protect your mind from being overwhelmed by my memories. You can skip the parts you wish to skip and see what you wish to see.
With this, I will no longer have anything to hide from you. You will understand not only my position, but my state of mind.
And once you do,
You will realize that I have no intentions of betraying you as long as I get what I want.”
“You want me to… read your memories?”
Nux questioned, a little taken aback.
This offer was… quite desperate.
“This is the only way I can think of that will make you trust my words.”
Sharnoth answered with a straight face.
“Why the complete memory? Why not show me the time when you activated your domain and realized that my Father was a projection?”
“As I said, once you see it, you will not only understand my position but also my state of mind. You will realize what I am doing and for what I am doing it for,
You will understand what is important for me and what is not.”
Sharnoth then took a small pause and,
“You will understand what I want and how desperately I want it,
And with this, you will understand how to… use me as a pawn in whatever game you are playing.”
Nux blinked, unable to believe what he was hearing.
One of the strongest Eternals in the entire Universe… was reducing herself into a mere pawn…?
No matter how he thought about it, it made no sense.
“Also, I am showing you the entire thing because a small piece of memory can be fabricated.”
“And your entire life cannot?”
Nux raised his eyebrow.
“I do not have the time to fabricate more than a hundred thousand years of memories.”
Sharnoth answered directly, and knowing that he was not convinced,
“This is the only way I have. If you want, you can use any other artifact to read my memories, an artifact that you can trust. I would even ask you to come here and read my memories on your own like you read my subordinates’, but I understand why you would want to avoid that.”
“…”
Nux turned silent.
In all honesty, this wasn’t an offer he could ignore.
Having an Eternal Level Being as a pawn…
Just thinking of the number of possibilities it opens up filled him with excitement. Without waiting any further,
“Alright then,”
He nodded.
With a wave of his hand, the Energy of Genesis was activated, and a new artifact shaped similar to the Crown of Chronicles was formed.
It was time to read the Queen’s memories.
