Chapter 23: Good Dog
In Lin En's view, women like Ivyst were seriously ill, in the final stages of a disease.
It was impossible to cure her completely, but at least there were ways to alleviate her condition, if only slightly.
So, fundamentally, it came back to his earlier point: He had to use strong medicine, an extra-large dose.
Only by letting her experience something completely new—something she had never encountered—could he provoke a deviation in the plot.
Had anyone ever dared to say something like "I want to you" in front of her?
Absolutely not.
Everyone who saw her regarded her as a demon and a harbinger of disaster. Even her father and siblings treated her with indifference.
Besides them, the only people around Ivyst were her subordinates, who held her in reverent awe. These people would worship her as a god and would never dare utter a single disrespectful word.
Thus, what happened tonight had enough power to act as an unprecedented shockwave, shattering Ivyst's dark and colorless view of the world. She would realize that, in this world, there were people who actually thought she was beautiful.
Even... people who had sexual fantasies about her.
Moreover, Lin En was currently under hypnosis. In this state, any dark thoughts that had been buried deep inside him would be magnified without limit.
Ivyst should have been mentally prepared for this.
From her perspective, no matter what had happened here, it was only she who would know about it.
So in the end, Lin En had only spoken a line that conformed to the setting.
Even after that dangerous moment, she hadn’t killed him, and now she certainly wouldn’t.
Looking at the results, Lin En felt he had just gotten away with 12 system points—a huge win.
He thought to himself silently.
Meanwhile, Ivyst fell into silence again after hearing Lin En's shocking words.
However, unexpectedly, she did not show any killing intent or anger this time.
Perhaps it was because she had hurt Lin En earlier, and now, a trace of guilt was creeping into her mind. Or perhaps there was some other reason.
In any case, she only felt that her thoughts were now incredibly complicated.
“You’re the first one to dare speak to me like this,” she said after a moment, staring at Lin En with a slight sneer. “Should I say you're bold or that you’re just asking for death?”
Lin En didn’t answer her.
After a brief silence, Ivyst turned her head.
By the light of the moon, she saw the graceful reflection of her own figure in the glass window.
"However... it's not that bad. How strange," she murmured to herself.
She gazed at her reflection, at the face that had filled her with shame and hatred for countless days and nights.
And in this moment, Ivyst, almost by some strange impulse, felt a desire to smile at her reflection.
Not a cold smile, nor a mocking one. Just a peaceful, friendly smile.
But as soon as the thought appeared, she pulled back her lips before they could even curve up.
Ivyst suddenly thought of her nominal older sister, Sirlina, the First Princess of the Saint Roland Empire.
Sirlina always wore a compassionate expression on her face, showing patience and kindness to everyone, always offering gentle smiles.
Ivyst hated this kind of pretentiousness more than anything.
“I’m really confused,” she muttered, shaking her head. “I’ve spent all this time tangled up over this guy’s nonsense. It’s absurd.”
She then raised her hand and lightly brushed the glass window.
“Crack!”
With a sharp sound, the window was covered in a mass of cracks.
The reflection that had been visible just moments ago vanished completely.
Ivyst’s expression returned to its neutral state.
The energy of the Mind’s Eye seal she had placed on him was dissipating, signaling that the hypnosis session was nearing its end.
To use it again, she would have to wait for it to recharge.
This cooldown would take about a day.
So that meant Ivyst could only hypnotize Lin En once per day.
But in any case, Lin En was now completely under her control.
No matter how unwilling he was, as long as the hypnosis remained unresolved, he would be at her disposal.
Of course, Ivyst knew that a little "sweetener" would go a long way.
She wouldn't just keep giving orders to Lin En without end.
After all, beyond his intellect, he was a rather interesting person, and having him around could make her daily life less dull.
Although she still had many questions for him, due to the cooldown time, Ivyst decided to stop speaking for now.
She raised her hand again and presented the Mind’s Eye seal in front of Lin En.
“When the hypnosis ends, you’ll forget everything that happened just now.”
No, you won’t forget anything.
In every sense of the word, Lin En silently complained to himself.
At the same time, he deactivated his "Lie Eater" ability.
In the next moment, his eyes cleared, and he stood frozen in place.
"You... what did you do to me?!"
Lin En's acting was top-notch as he looked at his tattered clothes and expressed shock.
Unexpectedly, Ivyst had already returned to her cold demeanor, as if nothing had happened.
She was a born actress.
Lin En couldn’t help but mentally sigh.
Too bad the tables had turned. Now, he was the one in control.
Just as he was thinking this, Ivyst suddenly spoke.
"It’s nothing. I just hypnotized you for a bit. Thanks to you, I saw some interesting things."
“You... saw what?”
Lin En forced himself to look serious.
Ivyst raised an eyebrow. "Don’t you remember? That’s really too bad.”
“Just now, someone suddenly started acting like a horny dog, tearing his own clothes and kneeling, begging me, saying ‘Your Highness, I really like you.’ How shameless.”
"Although I did learn something new about you today, you really like me, huh? Hehe."
Ivyst lightly covered her mouth, her smile tinged with mockery.
Lin En broke into a cold sweat.
What? This woman is adding drama to everything I said?
It was her who broke down first because of Sirlina, causing my clothes to get torn, and now she’s reversing it on me?
And the most ridiculous thing? I just complimented her on her looks, and she turned it into something else entirely, making me look like some kind of obsessed fan!
Lin En felt like he was about to lose control.
For the first time, he realized that this princess had a side to her that was completely narcissistic.
But the more she acted like this, the more he couldn’t show any cracks in his facade.
If she found out he wasn’t actually hypnotized, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Seeing Lin En lower his head in a dazed state, Ivyst assumed he was trying to recall what had happened while under hypnosis. She felt a sense of satisfaction, thinking her plan had worked.
"If something like this happens again, I’ll have your... you know, cut off."
"...Understood, Your Highness."
With no choice, Lin En reluctantly gave in.
But in his heart, he swore that one day, he would make Ivyst’s words come true... on her own body.
He clenched his fist.
However, just as he was thinking this, Lin En suddenly felt something cold wrapping around his neck.
It was the collar Ivyst had somehow produced again, and she was fiddling with it around his neck.
Lin En instinctively tried to resist, but Ivyst leaned in before he could move.
A soft rose scent filled his nose, making him dizzy.
At this moment, the distance between them was very close, yet Ivyst's gaze remained as cold and composed as ever, fixed on the collar she was about to fasten.
Her delicate, icy fingers brushed against his neck, sending shivers down his spine.
“Don’t move.”
Her voice was a simple command, but it stopped Lin En in his tracks.
It wasn’t fear.
It was just that men and women shouldn’t be so physical, especially since they weren’t even on the same level—how could he just shove her around?
“You... you don’t have to do this. I already agreed to serve you, just say the word.”
Lin En frowned in resignation.
With no choice, he relented for now.
But Ivyst didn’t respond to him.
“Click!”
After fastening the collar, Ivyst looked pleased.
Lin En felt a bit out of breath from the pressure, wanting to tear the collar off.
But before he could act, the collar suddenly turned into a red glow and sank into his skin, vanishing completely.
With a slight heat spreading across his chest, Lin En realized that a thorn-like blood-red mark had appeared on his chest without him noticing.
This wasn’t just any collar—it was a supernatural artifact.
While it didn’t show itself in everyday situations, in critical moments, it would allow Ivyst to feel his exact location, preventing him from running away!
Lin En cursed inwardly.
“This is the second collar I’ve personally fastened,” Ivyst said, gazing at the mark on his chest. A faint nostalgia appeared in her eyes. “The first one was when I was six years old.”
“The first one? Who was it?” Lin En raised his head, driven by his competitive spirit.
“It was a little dog I had when I was six.”
"And... what happened to it?"
Lin En had a bad premonition.
As expected, Ivyst smiled sweetly.
“On my eighth birthday, it bit me, so I strangled it to death.”
“For dogs that don’t listen, they must be punished.”
The atmosphere immediately grew cold.
Lin En quickly dropped to one knee, looking resolute, as if swearing allegiance to her: “I will serve you with my life, Your Highness!”
Ivyst patted his head.
“Good dog.”
