Stop Hypnotizing Me, Villainous Princess!

Chapter 15: Hypnosis? I’m Just Faking It!

Chapter 15: Hypnosis? I’m Just Faking It!

Could it be… the experiment actually worked?!

Seeing Lynn’s dazed expression, Milanie’s heart skipped a beat.

However, her face remained composed. Over the past 125 test subjects, there had been plenty of sly ones who thought they could fool her with their acting skills, only to meet disastrous ends. If Lynn was faking it, he was putting on quite the convincing act. Recalling his flippant attitude from earlier, Milanie grew increasingly suspicious that he might indeed be pretending.

After all, this brazen guy dared to hold even Princess Evester hostage. What wouldn’t he try?

In fact, Milanie was absolutely right.

At this moment, sensing her suspicious gaze, Lynn remained silent. His eyes appeared unfocused, his limbs limp, and he was deeply immersed in a hazy, muddled state. But this was all a physical act. Mentally, his thoughts were racing.

His consciousness felt as if it had detached from his body, observing Milanie’s every move like a puppet master, directing his body’s reactions from the outside.

All of this was thanks to Milanie granting his final request.

Moments before, gazing at his reflection in the mirror, Lynn had activated Lie Eater. The power of Lie Eater allowed his own lies to become believable, with the effect applying to everyone—including himself. So, he lied to himself.

But just one lie wasn’t enough.

To stay aware and escape from this lab, he told himself two lies.

Recalling scenes from the original storyline, Lynn knew much about the Mind Cult. This cult, which thrived in the Second Age in the southern region of an ancient empire, worshiped a god of the mind and believed humans should abandon their physical forms and embrace the Sea of Consciousness. Eventually, the cult was crushed by extraordinary individuals dispatched by the empire’s leaders, leaving behind only fragmented scriptures that circulated through secretive channels.

Where Milanie obtained her book, and whether its contents were authentic, was something Lynn didn’t know. Nor did he need to know.

Since he’d already been transported into a fictional world, whatever else happened was irrelevant.

Thus, he simply needed to convince himself that Milanie’s magic book was useless.

His first lie was: after the Mind Cult was destroyed, all critical texts were lost, so this experiment was fake and would fail to impact his mind or consciousness.

For Lynn, this lie held up. Otherwise, the previous 125 test subjects wouldn’t have failed so thoroughly.

As a result, the mind energy within the mana stones and magical array had almost no effect on his consciousness. This was essentially a clash between external power and his own will.

As long as he believed this experiment was a joke, the Eye of the Mind’s brainwashing and hypnosis effects couldn’t affect him.

Unlike reality-based extraordinary powers, which must follow this world’s physical laws, like fire burning skin or a blade drawing blood, mind-based powers leaned towards idealism—a rare and lightly touched domain.

In the end, his first lie succeeded perfectly.

He retained his self-awareness and survived the experiment unscathed.

But now came the second test.

Maintaining his out-of-body sensation, Lynn remained on high alert. At some point, Milanie took out a small gas lamp, bringing it close to his face to observe him intently.

After a moment, she pulled out a notebook and started writing.

“Breathing rate and heart rate… slightly lower than average,” she murmured.

Without warning, she raised her hand, holding the pen, and suddenly jabbed it towards his eye.

The pen stopped mere millimeters from his eyeball.

After a brief inspection, she resumed writing in her notebook: “Pupils normal, no significant reaction to external stimuli.”

It seemed she was conducting a series of tests to determine whether he was truly hypnotized or just pretending.

Most of the previous test subjects probably failed at this stage, as natural reflexes are difficult to suppress.

But Lynn was different.

His second lie was: the Lynn from Earth and Lynn Bartleon were two separate people; the former had taken over the latter, but due to some accident, he was unable to fully control the body, leading to delayed reflexes.

This lie was more complex and harder for him to believe, so he used the mirror as an amplifier to enhance Lie Eater’s effect.

Looking at a face so unlike his own, it reinforced the lie that “the Lynn from Earth and Lynn Bartleon are two different people,” which his subconscious accepted.

Once Lie Eater’s effect ended, he would recall everything and regain control of his body.

But Milanie was unaware of all this.

After completing several basic tests, she paused, studying him with a furrowed brow.

Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, she muttered, “Lucky you,” and tugged down the front of her lab coat, revealing a patch of fair skin. She adopted a seductive posture, licking her lips with a pink tongue, while her gaze remained fixed on Lynn’s lower half.

A few minutes later, Milanie adjusted her coat, her expression casual as she resumed recording her notes. “Subject No. 126 displayed no noticeable physiological response to the additional test. Passed flawlessly.”

Honestly, any normal person wouldn’t have reacted in this situation.

Except, perhaps, a complete scoundrel, Lynn thought wryly.

“Well, all the basic tests are passed.” A hint of excitement sparkled in Milanie’s eyes. “Looks like it’s time to call Her Highness for verification.”

“I’m sure the cuffs are quite tight. Let me loosen them a bit so you can relax.”

With that, she pressed a button on the machine.

As the metal restraints on his wrists and ankles slowly unlocked, Lynn let out a breath of relief.

It seemed the tests were over. Had he just barely escaped?

But he knew that he might still face a final assessment from Evester soon.

What a harrowing ordeal this was.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, a sudden mechanical whirring came from below.

A wave of weightlessness wrapped around him.

Lynn felt the floor give way beneath him, and, still strapped to the chair, he plummeted down from the lab.

“Ah! Oh no, I pressed the wrong button!”

In his daze, he vaguely heard Milanie’s startled cry from above.
