Chapter 970: Chapter 962: Cangtian, Black Emperor

In the human world, once every thousand years, a Merit Immortal is born to guide the worldly ethos. Behind this emergence, there are other births of immortal gods. The Celestial Court continuously sees new powers arising, yet the overall number of immortal gods declines.

Under the night sky.

Gu An lay on the roof, gazing at the celestial vault, looking toward a corner of the Celestial Court, where a celestial gate stood. Above it hung a dragon-slaying saber, and below, a stone platform was set. Two celestial gods escorted a shabby immortal god onto the platform, pressing his upper body onto the stone.

The two celestial gods stepped back, and the dragon-slaying saber fell, not only severing the immortal god’s head but also cutting off the celestial court’s cause and effect with him. As the celestial dao destiny dispersed, the immortal god’s body turned to ashes, drifting away with the wind.

Such tragedies happen daily within the heavenly realm, yet the immortal gods aren’t discussing it; they’re unaware.

Gu An, when idling, likes to gaze into the chaos and observe the Celestial Emperor, noting his balance, observing his ruthless methods.

He saw Li Ya’s predicament but believed Li Ya could endure it.

His gaze shifted toward the Palace of the Polestar.

There is no night in the heavenly realm, but when immortal gods aren’t gathered, the Palace of the Polestar appears desolate.

“Hmm?”

Gu An murmured in surprise, noticing an additional figure in the Palace of the Polestar conversing with the Celestial Emperor.

This figure bore no discernible aura, and if it weren’t for Gu An’s fortunate observation, he would’ve overlooked its existence.

The figure was pitch black, akin to the Mingji God, yet far more formidable, resembling the Celestial Emperor in stature.

Gu An recalled witnessing the past, when the Celestial Emperor forged the heavenly dao; his shadow had detached from his form.

The shadow bore striking similarity to this dark figure. With slight deduction, Gu An confirmed the figure was indeed the Celestial Emperor’s former shadow.

Unbeknownst to him, it had persisted all along.

Previously, Gu An attempted to locate it but was unsuccessful.

Now, as Gu An kept his eyes on the shadow, he could deduce much.

Turns out, this shadow had been hidden within the celestial dao destiny, transforming into the so-called Cangtian Will.

Cangtian was the will of the Celestial Emperor, the darkness within his heart, and the remnant will of Hongmeng.

The Celestial Emperor couldn’t annihilate Cangtian completely but could control it, never allowing Cangtian to enter his body, maintaining a safe distance.

At this moment, the Celestial Emperor and Cangtian were discussing anomalies within the dao.

The Celestial Emperor wanted the immortal gods refreshed, but adjustments to the immortal position would disrupt the celestial dao destiny, potentially inviting chaos power intrusion.

Cangtian was very dissatisfied; the entire heavenly dao felt like his body, discomforted by countless pests stirring within, hoping the Celestial Emperor would cease, or at least move less drastically.

The Celestial Emperor scoffed, claiming once the pain passed, the heavenly dao would soar, benefiting Cangtian as well, firmly insisting on enduring.

From their dialogue, it’s evident the Celestial Emperor held dominance.

It’s noteworthy that Gu An spied the Black Emperor of the Dark Heavenly Court through the cause and effect of Cangtian.

The Black Emperor was a Supreme Emperor of Ultimate Merging Dao, hidden deep within chaos for years, devoted to cultivation, with intricate ties to the Celestial Emperor.

The Black Emperor was a Son of Heaven, after exile, the Celestial Emperor could use Cangtian’s power to sustain him, fostering the Dark Heavenly Court anew.

No wonder the Dark Heavenly Court could always escape peril; it was also a pawn of the Celestial Emperor.

The location where the Black Emperor concealed himself was, even for a saint like Gu An, difficult to detect.

Tonight’s revelations were significant for Gu An, rekindling his interest in the heavenly dao and chaos.

With Cangtian’s reveal, the future of the heavenly dao would transform, ushering in an unprecedented calamity, beyond the Celestial Emperor’s control.

Gu An foresaw that Li Ya, Li Xuanmiao, Yang Jian, and the old friends destined to ascend to immortality would meet with misfortune.

In his eyes, the dire fate of old friends was apparent, but such foresight wasn’t new to him, thus his mindset remained unchanged.

He remained lying on the rooftop, hands behind his head, as if appreciating the grandeur of the starry vault.

Shen Zhen, meditating in front of the Artifact Refining Cauldron, turned to glance at Gu An’s posture, assuming he was simply idling, stargazing.

Until dawn broke, Gu An finally rose, leaping into the courtyard, then starting to stretch.

He casually chatted with Shen Zhen, spoke of trivial matters, and Shen Zhen responded intermittently, a routine of theirs.

After an hour, Gu An slowly walked out of the courtyard.

Leaving the courtyard, he stepped across to the other side of the world.

With morning sunlight spilling, he strolled through the woods, the mountain path steep, with purple fallen leaves accumulating on the trail, exceedingly vivid.

Ascending all the way, a pavilion halfway up the mountain entered his view; not large, surrounded by a circle of bamboo fence, faintly chirping sounds emanated.

Approaching the yard, he saw a group of palm-sized bamboo people frolicking within. Upon seeing him, they scurried away in terror, some hiding in bamboo baskets, others diving into wooden tubs, while some tucked by the building edge.

Gu An chuckled, then pushed the door open and entered.

Hearing the door creak, the occupants inside were visibly alert, a divine sense flared out but promptly reined back.

“I thought you wouldn’t come see me unless I called for you.”

A female voice issued from within the pavilion, tinged with slight reproach.

The voice unmistakably belonged to Hong Yi, the woman fated to become a saint in Gu An’s eyes.

Gu An didn’t enter the pavilion; after stepping into the courtyard, he reached out, brushing the flowers and foliage along the path, which grew waist-high exuding vibrant life.

“How did you know it was me?” Gu An asked.

“The only one who my divine sense can’t capture is you.”

Hong Yi’s voice sounded, then the pavilion’s door swung open, a breeze stirred, and Hong Yi in red appeared before Gu An, eyes fixed upon him.

Gu An raised his hand, ruffling her hair with a smile: “Judging by your actions, you weren’t entirely certain.”

Touched by Gu An, the icy demeanor on Hong Yi’s face immediately softened, her eyes subtly shifting as she spoke softly: “Why have you come looking for me?”

Gu An, with a touch of annoyance, replied: “We hold no grudges; I watched over your upbringing, taught you all your skills. Is it not right for me to visit and see you?”

Upon hearing this, Hong Yi’s lips slightly curled, her already captivating face became even more alluring.

Gu An appraised her and asked: “Tell me how you’ve spent these years.”

His visit today wasn’t merely to check on Hong Yi but because trouble was looming for her.

Ever since Hong Yi’s birth, Gu An calculated she would face this tribulation, though it had come earlier.

Eternal had set its sights on Hong Yi!
