Star Odyssey

Chapter 3335: Battle

The Abandoned entered the battleship, prepared to slaughter the Spirit Nidus’s younger cultivators. Suddenly, a sharp spike appeared in front of him. He quickly retreated, but a sharp pain caused him to look down. He saw a spike piercing his body, and blood dripped from the tip.

Two people appeared, one in front and one behind. They were both women.

"You’ve been here the whole time," the Abandoned rasped as he swung his knife, forcing the two women to pull back.

The man coughed up blood. These two women were clearly sequence powerhouses. They had to have been in place beforehand, or else they would have never been able to approach the Abandoned so easily.

They had let him kill several young people just so that they could catch him off guard with an ambush.

The Abandoned’s heart sank. He was not upset by his injuries, but because these people had not cared about the young man who had just been killed. To the Abandoned, that young man had clearly been a peerless prodigy, as he had reached the Envoy level at such a young age, as well as cultivated a sequence technique and wielded one of the Spirit Nidus’s artifacts. In the Tianyuan Megaverse, the man would have stood head and shoulders above his peers.

Despite that, the two women had not cared about the young man at all, which meant that, within the Spirit Nidus, the young man could be regarded as insignificant.

Was the gap between megaverses really that wide?

There was a woman in front and another behind the Abandoned. Neither said a word as they simultaneously attacked. They each wielded a broken spike that they stabbed at the Abandoned.

He parried the spikes with his knife. All three people were using close-combat battle techniques while fighting within a confined space. Occasional splatters of blood painted the nearby walls; the Abandoned held the upper hand due to his sequence particles, which granted him superior speed. With enough time, he was certain that he could kill both women.

However, things changed quickly when a third person joined the battle. A man appeared, who also wielded a broken spike, and his attacks were far more vicious than the two women’s.

None of the three had used any sequence particles, but it was impossible for them not to be sequence powerhouses.

The Abandoned used his sequence particles to keep some distance from his three opponents as he prepared to leave, but he found that, no matter how far he moved, the three people were always right beside him. He could never pull away from them.

What’s going on? This had to be the result of sequence particles!

The Abandoned kept retreating, until finally, he arrived at the deck of the battleship. The massive stone gate rose up behind him. The man and two women moved to surround the Abandoned, and despite his sequence particles, he was unable to escape.

Far away, Mu Ke, Xu Wuwei, Moon Fairy, E' Nan, and the other powerhouses saw the Abandoned’s situation, but while all of them wanted to hurry over to the battleship, they were all busy fighting their own opponents.

The Spirit Nidus simply had far too many sequence powerhouses.

Broken spikes repeatedly pierced the Abandoned's body. He used his law of the universe to get away from the battleship, but his three opponents were still surrounding him. He continuously spat out blood as wounds riddled his body. He was completely soaked in blood.

Suddenly, a small path appeared beneath the Abandoned's feet. It had been put there by Arch-Elder Zen.

Arch-Elder Zen’s Progenitor’s world was the Serene Path, and it was able to extend and retract without limit. It was capable of infinite extension and retraction, and it worked exceptionally well when rescuing people.

The Serene Path retracted further and further as the Abandoned gasped for breath. He could no longer even maintain his grip on his knife, and it tumbled from his hand.

His three opponents fell far behind, showing no signs of wanting to chase after the man.

The man locked eyes with the Abandoned, but he betrayed no hint of frustration that the Abandoned had been rescued. Instead, a mocking light filled the man’s eyes.

The man’s expression gave the Abandoned a bad feeling, and he quickly moved off of the narrow path.

Far away, Arch-Elder Zen was startled by the movement. "What are you doing?"

The Abandoned looked up at Arch-Elder Zen, but just as he was about to speak, his body exploded. Absolutely nothing was left behind. Space warped and twisted, and the Hollow was exposed. Everything nearby was devoured.

It only took an instant for the Abandoned to vanish from the universe. It was as if the man had never existed.

Arch-Elder Zen's face flushed red with rage. His bloodlust surged as he turned to look at the three people standing in front of the Spirit Nidus’s battleship.

The man from the trio sneered as he dragged his thumb across his throat while staring at Arch-Elder Zen. The results were unfortunate, as he had intended for the Abandoned to explode only after he was rescued, but the man had noticed that something was wrong too quickly. If not for that, more would have died.

Far away, on the inside of the stone gate, a strange phenomenon appeared in outer space.

A multi-colored light shot upwards, and then fell back down. There was not a single sound, but the Hollow was torn open. Nine mechas were swallowed, as were Xu Wuwei, Shan Zheng, and Wang Jian.

A red-haired man was responsible for the destruction. A single attack had killed three Progenitors and destroyed nine mechas.

However, because the attack was utterly silent, few noticed it.

Only Lord Xu, who had been the closest, had clearly seen what had happened. His pupils shrank, struck to his core by the death of Xu Wuwei. Infuriated, Lord Xu charged at the red-haired man.

The red-haired man’s name was Bao Qi. He was one of the Spirit Nidus’s Seven Seraphs, a matchless expert.

The Voidlord summoned the Voidforce Universe, and an incredible amount of voidforce energy shot toward Bao Qi.

The man remained indifferent in the face of the attack, and he allowed the voidforce energy to approach. He opened his mouth, and while no sound emerged, a multi-colored light erupted to directly clash with the voidforce energy.

The void shattered, and the Hollow opened up. Lord Xu was forced back by the impact, and he coughed up blood.

Bao Qi opened his mouth a second time, and the multi-colored light swept across the universe to slam into Lord Xu.

The Voidlord pulled out a tortoise shell in response. This voidforce puppet had blocked many powerful attacks in the past, but Bao Qi’s strike reduced it to dust. The multi-colored light destroyed half of the man’s body, leaving him severely injured.

The Voidlord coughed up blood, horrified by the outcome. How could his opponent be so strong? Lord Xu had even fought against the Three Pillars and Six Skies and had survived countless battles against numerous powerful experts, but never before had someone injured him so easily.

Bao Qi showed a cruel grin as he licked his lips as they split open. His actions gave him a bloodthirsty appearance, especially his red eyes. “Not bad. You actually managed to block one of my strikes. You must be one of the most powerful cultivators in this Tianyuan Megaverse, but that’s still not enough. Not nearly enough.”

The man then reopened his mouth. There was no tongue, only a coalescing, multi-colored light. The nearby void rippled constantly, as though the man’s next attack could tear the entire universe apart.

Lord Xu’s pupils shrank as he sensed an incredible amount of danger.

A figure flashed past the Voidlord, charging at Bao Qi with a golden cudgel that slammed down.

The Seraph’s eyes followed the figure as they approached, and finally, when the multi-colored light shot out, it met the descending cudgel.

Boom!

Space trembled as shockwaves rippled out in all directions. For the Heavens Sect’s forces, two mechas and a peak powerhouse from another universe were instantly destroyed by the shockwaves. As for the Spirit Nidus’s forces, several of their peak powerhouses had also perished. The shockwave even reached beyond the stone gate, nearly overturning the battleship.

Many eyes inside the vessel were watching the battlefield. Much of the original arrogance and confidence was slowly fading.

The people still aboard the battleship were the most talented members of the Spirit Nidus’s younger generation. Before they set out for the Tianyuan Megaverse, they had heard countless people tell them that the Tianyuan Megaverse was weak and that they would be able to bully and slaughter its people at will. It was a place with no Spirit Rebirths, no Spirit Manifestations, and no sequence bases.

These were many vital powers in the Spirit Nidus that simply did not exist in the Tianyuan Megaverse at all. Their absence excited the younger cultivators of the Spirit Nidus, who looked down on the Tianyuan Megaverse with every fiber of their being.

Without similar powers, how could any megaverse hope to resist the Spirit Nidus?

When the stone gate first opened, they had immediately surrounded Lu Yuan, and their contempt for the Tianyuan Megaverse had deepened. Despite knowing about the impending invasion, the Tianyuan Megaverse had only left one person behind to defend the stone gate. That made it look as though the guardian was the most powerful being in the Tianyuan Megaverse, as though he believed he could stand against the entirety of the Spirit Nidus on his own. What a joke.

However, Lu Yin’s arrival had caused the battle to take an entirely unpredictable turn.

Despite his extreme youth, Lu Yin had dared to stand up to a Seraph. After that, many more experts had emerged to fight against the Tianyuan Megaverse, including two Seraphs, Palace Master Yao, Tian Ci, and other seemingly peerless experts. All of the Spirit Nidus’s experts were being blocked by cultivators from the Tianyuan Megaverse, and both sides had already suffered casualties.

At this moment, the Spirit Nidus cultivators no longer underestimated the Tianyuan Megaverse.

Only by personally fighting against their target were they able to truly understand that the Tianyuan Megaverse was not the ripe fruit for plucking they had imagined. The invasion was not a one-sided massacre or looting the megaverse, but rather a fight to the death for both sides.

The Abandoned had fought his way into the battleship, and he had been killed for his attempt. But even then, he had also killed people aboard the ship. The stench of blood left the elites of the Spirit Nidus silent.

This invasion had already proven to be far more difficult than they had anticipated, and they were still unable to see a definitive advantage for their Spirit Nidus.

“This Tianyuan Megaverse isn’t as weak as we believed. Everyone, we need to be careful,” someone said.

“I never thought that even two Seraphs would be stopped, as well as Palace Master Yao, one of the most powerful people beneath the seven Seraphs. There’s also Lord Tian Ci, who was the greatest genius of his generation. All of them have been stopped.”

“Do not underestimate the Tianyuan Megaverse. Even the weakest megaverse won’t be instantly destroyed. Still, I don’t think that this one will be able to hold out much longer. Reinforcements from the Spirit Nidus are already on the way, and I’ve even heard that the High Seraph might come.”

“Impossible! The High Seraph is in the Consciousness Megaverse! How could he come here? It’s far more likely for someone from Theomantle Mountain to show up.”

“Fool! We’re already facing the Tianyuan Megaverse’s most powerful forces. They’ve brought out everything that they have to resist our invasion. This is already their peak strength. There’s no one else to reinforce them. Whether the High Seraph comes or not, the Tianyuan Megaverse is finished. Also, don’t forget that Lord Yuan Qi is already here.”

“That’s right, and Lady Zhan Yan as well.”

“I’ve heard that there are people in the Tianyuan Megaverse who’ve already defected to us, as well as defectors from the Consciousness Megaverse. All of them are here.”

“The Tianyuan Megaverse won’t be able to last much longer.”

The battleship shook again. A young boy sat in a corner, his leg propped up against a window and his arms crossed as he stared into outer space.

“Hey, Yuan Mie, aren’t you going to say something? Lord Yuan Qi is your ancestor, as well as a Seraph. You’ll be able to meet him soon.” A purple-haired girl skipped over to the boy. When she blinked, her eyes sparkled like the Astral River, revealing a hint of mischief in their depths.

The boy, Yuan Mie, completely ignored the girl, which caused her to pout. “What? Why are you so cold? I even came all the way over here looking for you. Look, even Kitty is here.”

“Stupid girl, I’m not a cat! I’ve told you a million times—I’m not a cat! Not a cat! Not a cat…”

The girl covered her ears. “Alright, fine! You’re not a cat. Why are you shouting?”

Kitty snorted and arrogantly raised his head. “All of you who’ve only undergone Spirit Rebirth are too weak! When I reach my full strength, I’ll easily sweep through this Tianyuan Megaverse! The Seraphs won’t need to do a thing.”

“Braggart.” The purple-haired girl made a face at the boy and then raced away.

Kitty roared at her, “Get back here! Stupid girl, I’ll teach you a lesson!”

Boom!

Another tremor shook the battleship, eliciting startled cries all around.

Yuan Mie looked away. It was good that he was able to witness the invasion firsthand. Was the Tianyuan Megaverse weak? How foolish. If that were the case, then his ancestor would not have stayed in this megaverse for so long. Still, it did not matter. The more people that died, the more opportunities that would remain for Yuan Mie. He was confident that he would eventually become one of the Seven Seraphs.
