Chapter 874: Backlash from the Azure Flame World
A dense cloud shrouded the city and the rain that was pouring down showed no signs of stopping.
Along with the torrential rain, the gale that blew from the seas seemed to grow rougher and more powerful.
Shang Xia’s clone arrived in the skies above the city and stood beside Kou Chongxue.
Because of the repulsion of the aura around them, the rain formed a circular shaped curtain around them.
“If you didn’t awaken earlier, they might have already forced their way into the city...” Shang Xia muttered. There was a trace of celebration in his voice.
Kou Chongxue tilted his head over and stared at Shang Xia. “Since you used the lives of 80,000 Yanlin clansmen as a threat, there was no way he would do it.”
“It’s a shame...” Shang Xia’s clone mumbled before looking at Kou Chongxue. “Patriarch, why don’t you seem surprised that there’s another entrance to the Yanlin Holy Land?”
“What are you trying to get at?” Kou Chongxue asked.
Shang Xia’s clone chuckled softly. “Does our Tongyou Paradise also have a second entrance?”
“Obviously?” Kou Chongxue shot him a strange glance. He was wondering if the clone before him was a little dumb. How could he actually ask something as simple as that? A look of confusion appeared on Kou Chongxue’s face. “Didn’t you guys enter the Beyond Heavens Pavilion from the second entrance of the Holy Land?”
Of course, there was nothing wrong with saying that. The look Kou Chongxue was shooting Shang Xia’s clone at the moment also didn’t seem weird anymore now that he thought about it.
“Heh.” Shang Xia’s clone snorted once before forcing a laugh, “Patriarch, are you treating me like I’m three years old? I’m asking if there is any hidden entrance to our Tongyou Paradise in the void...”
“Do you wish to know?” Kou Chongxue snorted back in response. “Wait till you take over your grandfather as a deputy patriarch of the institution! I’ll tell you then!”
Even though Kou Chongxue didn’t seem to give him an answer, his avoidance was enough of an answer.
“Hehe! Even my true body didn’t notice anything... Looks like it doesn’t matter if it's the Yanlin Holy Land or our Tongyou Paradise... The second entrance seems to be hidden really well!” The thought flashed through Shang Xia’s clone’s mind. However, he turned to look outside the city next. “The situation out there isn’t too optimistic. Aren’t you planning to make a move?”
Kou Chongxue stared at him with his jaws agape. “Didn’t they fail to barge into the city? What the hell are you all worked up about? Didn’t I kill those third soul Martial Sages earlier? My inner qi is fluctuating too wildly. How can I join the battle again?”
With a look of shock on his face, Shang Xia’s clone didn’t know how to respond. He could only cup his fists at the patriarch before returning to the Yanlin Holy Land to his true body.
In the Holy Land, a five colored light tore through the air and returned to Shang Xia’s true body that was hovering above the cauldron. Everything that happened quickly assimilated into Shang Xia’s memories.
His expression changed slightly. He couldn’t tell if the old man was actually lying about being unable to make a move after killing the third soul Martial Sages...
He was probably feeling some discomfort with his inner qi rampaging in his body, but he definitely had other concerns for not attacking immediately.
Whatever it was, it didn’t matter to Shang Xia. He was on Kou Chongxue’s side anyway!
His physical body started to blur and he separated yet another clone. It rushed to a certain spot in the Holy Land.
It was where 80,000 Yanlin clansmen were contained after their cultivations were sealed.
It didn’t take him long to find Yanlin Ju.
He didn’t bother with the formalities and he asked directly, “Is there another entrance to your Holy Land?”
Yanlin Ju’s expression changed.
“Is the other entrance above the heavenly screen?” Shang Xia’s clone continued.
Originally, Yanlin Ju’s face was already deathly pale from having his cultivation sealed. Now that he heard what Shang Xia was asking, it actually managed to turn a shade whiter. He stammered, “You... You... What do you want?! How did you know?!”
“Hmm. Looks like Yanlin Jue wasn’t lying to me.” Shang Xia’s clone mumbled to himself.
“Who?! Yanlin Jue?! Eighth Uncle?” Yanlin Ju was shocked to hear the name from Shang Xia’s clone’s lips. He seemed extremely stirred up and he stuttered, “How did he... How... You! You guys! What did you do to him?”
“Can you calm down? His decision was the same as yours. In order to protect your clansmen and the Holy Land, he chose to make a deal with us.” Shang Xia’s clone explained.
When he was done, he briefly explained what happened when he met Yanlin Jue. He also told Yanlin Ju about the deal Kou Chongxue made with Yanlin Jue.
Finally, Shang Xia’s clone concluded, “Before we leave, we will definitely release the restrictions on your cultivation before shattering the spatial tunnel in the city. When that happens, all of you will be trapped in here. Only after Yanlin Jue opens the second entrance above the heavenly screen will you guys be able to leave! Otherwise...”
“Otherwise, we can only wait for death here!” Yanlin Ju completed what Shang Xia wanted to say.
After the spatial tunnel leading to the city was destroyed, one would only be able to open the second entrance from the outside. If they tried to smash their way out, they would only cause their Holy Land to collapse.
Shang Xia’s clone nodded slowly. “When the time comes, we’ll leave you guys some rations and you can split it however you wish. I hope you guys don’t panic and mess everything up...”
“I don’t need you to teach me what to do!” Yanlin Ju snapped. However, he seemed to realize his tone wasn’t exactly right when talking to someone who would be allowing their race to live and he sighed softly, “... Many thanks...”
Shang Xia chuckled under his breath. “There’s no need to go so far. We are from different worlds and we have our own needs. Moreover, who’s to say that we won’t have any way of working together in the future?”
“What do you mean by that?!” Yanlin Ju raised his head violently, but Shang Xia’s clone was gone. His expression flickered uncontrollably and no one knew what he was thinking about.
As Shang Xia’s clone returned to his true body, Shang Xia no longer created any more clones. Instead, he focused fully on drawing world origin.
The main reason behind him not doing anything was because Kou Chongxue had already consolidated his foundations at the grand completion stage of the Martial Dipper Realm. He would be ready to deal with any threats and there was no need for Shang Xia to care about the situation outside any longer. Of course, Shang Xia didn’t believe Kou Chongxue’s bullshit about not being able to make a move because of his ‘fluctuating inner qi’.
Another reason he wasn’t planning to take part in anything out there was because he felt as though he was about to make another small breakthrough.
It wasn’t related to his cultivation. Instead, it was of his Five Element Arts.
Shang Xia used his crappiest naming sense to name it the Five Element Art before. It described the art with no problem, and Shang Xia didn’t have the time or luxury to think of the most badass name he could use to describe it.
As time passed, especially in the Azure Flame World where he was absorbing world origin non-stop, he hadn’t stopped circulating his Five Element Art.
Under such circumstances, he gained a better understanding of the Five Element Art. Perfecting it and reaching a higher boundary in the Five Element Art was a matter of time.
Just as he was about to take the final step and complete the breakthrough, the battlefield changed once again. Chaos broke out and the sound waves emitted were so powerful that the spatial barrier around the Holy Land failed to stop it.
Shang Xia’s expression sank. He could hear loud roars and the earth under the city started to tremble even with the suppression of the grand formation.
What the hell was going on?
Shang Xia couldn’t be bothered with the improvement of his Five Element Arts at the moment. He extended his divine will out of the Holy Land and was greeted with a massive storm. Loud cries from all sorts of creatures filled the air and it was as though armageddon had arrived.
Without any hesitation, Shang Xia created another clone and sent him to the platform that housed the eye of the grand formation.
“What’s going on?!” He asked the moment he arrived.
The Formation Grandmasters on the platform were so busy that they were running around without rest to strengthen and modify the grand formation as needed.
Hearing his question, no one bothered to stop to explain what was going on. Instead, a voice rose from the chaos. “Lightning storms, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, beast tides, sea beast tides... Everything is hitting the city as we speak!”
“What?!” Shang Xia’s clone gasped in fright.
It was then when the Azure Flame World’s Will roared in pain once again.
Shang Xia managed to fill the Stellar Cauldron up to the 70 percent mark!
The instant he did, he noticed that the Azure Flame World seemed to go crazy.
