Sorcerer’s Handbook

Chapter 71: Spirit Relationship The Battle of Pure Love

In the luxurious villa’s basement in Gales.

As five overlapping Contracts turned to light smoke and dissipated, each of the five individuals faintly felt their Souls gain a slight weight.

“Now that we’ve signed the Contract, where’s the Treasure?” Adelle asked curiously, looking around. “I get it, is it hidden inside these tables and chairs, and we need to shave off the wood to find it?”

It was no wonder Adelle had this idea; after all, the basement was filled with tables and chairs, and it was clear at a glance that there was no place to hide anything.

“The Treasure isn’t here,” Felix stated.

“If it’s not here, then why are we here?”

Adelle looked bewildered, but the others seemed to have anticipated this, and Lois, frustrated that Adelle wasn’t getting it, pinched her cheeks. “Pay a bit more attention in class! We are Sorcerers, not ordinary people. When we hide something, how could we possibly do it like ordinary folks, hiding it in the real world?”

“If it’s not hidden in the real world, then where… Oh, the Virtual Realm!” Adelle had a moment of realization. “No wonder a spirit is required to unlock the Treasure!”

Compared to the real world, filled with surprises, transience, and natural and man-made disasters, the Virtual Realm was the ideal storage space: unchanging through the ages, free from disasters, and uninhabited.

The Virtual Realm has always been more than just a practice ground for Sorcerers; it is the cornerstone of the Sorcerer system. To this day, no one dares to claim they have thoroughly researched the Virtual Realm, as almost every year or month, Sorcerers use it to invent new techniques.

Sorcerers are like children picking up shells by the sea, with the vast and unknown ocean still lying before them.

Storing items in the Virtual Realm is not a new technique, but it still hasn’t been commercialized to this day and remains a Miracle exclusive to high-ranking Sorcerers.

The principle couldn’t be simpler: it’s all about finding a way to fix the Virtual Realm Coordinate of the Gate of Truth, ensuring that one can reach the same Virtual Realm Coordinate every time, which naturally turns that Coordinate into a personal storage for the Sorcerer.

Simple in theory, but the Gate of Truth randomly appears within the spirit’s body, so how can its Coordinate be made constant?

This involves another little-known field of study: Spirit Relationship science.

Since spirits possess intelligence, they naturally have emotions, but Sorcerers, at least those below the rank of Sanctuary, cannot discern the spirits’ happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy.

However, when multiple spirits come close and interact, their moods will inevitably change. If one can observe the pattern of these changes and keep one spirit’s mood constant in a specific state, then the Gate of Truth within it will also remain stationary, becoming an eternal and unchanging Virtual Realm Coordinate!

Felix summoned his own Vibration Sword spirit and said, “When the Vibration Sword shows a change in expression, you must immediately bring the Killing Intent Sword close to it. Are you ready?”

Sonya nodded and summoned her ‘Killing Intent Sword’ spirit.

Felix exhaled and then called forth his ‘Affection’ spirit, a pure and adorable single-winged girl spirit.

The Vibration Sword spirit’s appearance was that of a cold and detached swordsman. When the Affection spirit danced around it, its expression remained unchanged; even when the Affection spirit grasped its hand and shook it, there was still no change. Suddenly, the Affection spirit leaned in and pecked the Vibration Sword spirit on the cheek, and that perennially icy facade finally melted, revealing a faint blush barely visible.

Right now!

Sonya immediately brought the Killing Intent Sword closer. The Killing Intent Sword’s appearance was that of a red-haired, red-robed swordsman with two swords in hand, wrapped in a red aura. As it approached, the Affection spirit hid behind the Vibration Sword, which fearlessly faced the Killing Intent Sword, its body emitting black vibrations!

Spirit Relationship: The Battle of Pure Love, achieved!

Felix’s eyes sharpened, and his consciousness delved into the Vibration Sword, capturing the Gate of Truth!

Expand!

A grey dot flew out from the spirit, then rapidly expanded and inflated, quickly becoming a grey, translucent bubble.

The Grey Foam slowly grew larger in the air, even showing illusions of thunder and lightning within, causing everyone to keep their distance, not daring to approach.

The Gate of Truth can expand, but it’s nearly meaningless to Sorcerers in reality—only the Soul can enter the Virtual Realm.

No matter how much the Gate of Truth expands, it’s impossible for Sorcerers to bring anything through it.

Matter cannot enter the Virtual Realm.

But the reverse is not the same.

Things from the Virtual Realm can pass through the Gate of Truth into reality. Some Knowledge Creatures even take the opportunity to run into reality to obtain a true body, wreaking havoc at will.

This is also the foundation of spirit birth; Sorcerers resonate with the Virtual Realm through knowledge, allowing the truths of the Virtual Realm to flow into the Sorcerer’s knowledge. When knowledge and truth mix, a spirit is born.

That’s why Sonya and the others were so scared they retreated to the stairwell, ready to run at the first sign of trouble.

Because the Virtual Realm Coordinates used by Sorcerers for storage are generally not benevolent places. If a Sorcerer were to store things on a calm and serene island, not to mention the risk of other Sorcerers finding it, more importantly, Knowledge Creatures also hunt for food.

Felix chose to enlarge the Gate of Truth instead of entering himself, which also means he knows the corresponding Virtual Realm location is extremely dangerous, and anything could happen. There’s a widely circulated joke in the school that a Sorcerer was knocked unconscious by a blast the moment they opened the Gate of Truth, possibly because the corresponding location was in the midst of a Battle.

Being killed by the Gate of Truth is considered one of the most foolish deaths for a Sorcerer.

The Grey Foam grew larger and larger, and the thunderous phenomena within became more intense, frightening everyone to the point of wanting to flee the basement. Felix, who was severely depleting his arcane energy, turned pale, grunted, and unfolded his still-forming Silver Wings!

Sonya watched the nearly solidified Silver Wings with slightly narrowed eyes.

The Grey Foam continued to expand, and suddenly a bolt of Thunder struck a nearby chair, instantly turning it into charcoal!

“Wow!”

“What do we do now?”

“Maybe we should come back when the weather’s better?”

Everyone exchanged glances with Adelle—there’s no such concept as weather in the Virtual Realm…

Just as Felix was about to reach his limit, suddenly, a box fell out of the Grey Foam. He immediately cut off his arcane energy, and the Grey Foam vanished with a pop, the scattered arcane energy forming a gentle breeze that brushed past everyone.

“Is this the Treasure?”

Adelle dashed to the box with a curious look, examining the item that had fallen from the Virtual Realm. “It looks… huh, why did it disappear… oh, it’s back again? Am I seeing things?”

The box appeared to be made of obsidian, seemingly unremarkable, but as soon as Adelle blinked, it vanished, only to reappear upon closer inspection.

“Unrememberable Wood.” Lois’s voice was soft, as if afraid that speaking too loudly would scare the box away: “If you don’t pay attention for a moment, you won’t see it, you will even overlook it, and eventually, you’ll forget it… This is a precious material that can only be obtained in the Virtual Realm.”

“Its most important use is that it can be hidden within the Soul, enabling a Sorcerer to carry it out of the Virtual Realm, and of course, also back in.”

“If the Unrememberable Wood is made into a sealed container, then nothing inside will give off any scent, and even real-world Items can be placed inside, subsequently taken into the Virtual Realm…”

Everyone let out a sound of awe, marveling at the magic of Unrememberable Wood without giving it much more thought.

Only Lois took a covert glance at Felix, feeling somewhat astonished and uncertain.

Because of her Family reasons, she was familiar with this extremely rare and expensive commodity.

She clearly remembered that Unrememberable Wood is a rare material from the third layer of the Virtual Realm, ‘Distant Skies’, unattainable by anyone below the Tri-wings Sanctuary.

To be honest, this box is probably worth much more than whatever is hidden inside it—such rare Items that can traverse between reality and the Virtual Realm are not just priceless, but they are also the cause of disputes and chaos that can lead to Sorcerer killings!

She hadn’t held high expectations for Felix’s ‘mother’s inheritance’, assuming it was just some Items that could aid a Silver Sorcerer.

But the appearance of the Unrememberable Wood Box forced Lois to reconsider—using a Tri-wings Sorcerer’s box to store One Wing Sorcerer’s Items, Felix’s mother was much more extravagant than him.

Or perhaps, in his mother’s eyes, there was no difference between an Unrememberable Wood Box and Silver-level Items.

Just as Lois wouldn’t buy cheaper clothes because of the price difference, not out of extravagance, but because that price difference was almost imperceptible to her, so why compromise?

Felix’s mother must have had other ways to preserve Items, but she specifically used an Unrememberable Wood Box, which can only mean that such a box was of no significant concern to her.

So, what level of Sorcerer was Felix’s mother?

Tri-wings Sanctuary, Quadruple wings Legend, or perhaps…?

Lois swallowed hard, feeling like she had been dragged into a mess by Sonya. This was a dispute within the Vlozrada Family! This was not something a merchant’s daughter should be meddling with!

But now it was too late for regrets, she had already signed the Contract!

“Open it.”

Felix opened the Unrememberable Wood Box, and a burst of golden light surged out.
