SORCERER: I WANT TO BE AN ACADEMIC PRODIGY
Chapter 537 - 535: Inexplicable PremonitionChapter 537: Chapter 535: Inexplicable Premonition
The King of Green Thunder was originally one of the five great Void Kings in the sorcerer world, and in the end, he perished in a mutual destruction with a traitor who had sided with the beasts from the extremity plane.
Venton was the King of Green Thunder’s family, and this female sorcerer named ‘Fioqi’ was a descendant of his.
Faced with her somewhat scrutinizing gaze, Ivan responded with an awkward yet polite faint smile.
“In that case, you may choose from the common arrangements,” the King of Ten Thousand Woods promptly suggested. “Ivan, what about your choice?”
“I—”
Ivan was about to speak when he suddenly froze.
…
He was completely dumbfounded for a moment, as if he had thought of something complex and forgot to answer the King of Ten Thousand Woods, who did not urge him.
Ivan was dazed, not for any other reason, but because the Prophet’s Treasure Tome in his soul sea had been stirred.
Several vivid images emerged, flashing quickly, among which one conversation was particularly clear and somewhat mysteriously unsettling, compelling him to take notice.
In the images, someone said to him, “Sorcerer Ivan, you have truly returned to the underground world; come with me quickly to find the lost throne!”
The other party looked at him earnestly.
He nodded vigorously, “Good, let’s set off immediately.”
Ivan could naturally recognize that the one extending the invitation was his old friend Meg, the ancient treant he had traveled to the underground world with.
The ancient treant Meg always had a wish to go to the seventh layer of the underground world to pick up the lost throne.
What concerned him was not Meg’s words, but the fact that his own image in the vision had agreed so readily.
‘Could it be that Meg hasn’t been deceived, and there really is a lost throne in the underground world to be found?’
‘That doesn’t make sense!’
After much contemplation, Ivan could not understand it.
What is a throne?
That is something that only powerful beings of Level 6 could condense, and so far, the sorcerer world has not yet given birth to any Level 6 sorcerer, so there is no specific definition for this level of sorcerer.
Level 4 is an Arcane Wizard, Level 5 is a Void Spirit Sorcerer, Level 6 has not been defined yet, and no one dares to arbitrarily define it.
Similarly, no one in the sorcerer world can clearly explain what a throne actually is.
Such a coveted object, yet someone tells him that they can go pick it up together—if this wasn’t a precognition from the Prophet’s Treasure Tome, he would have scoffed at the idea.
Unable to figure it out, he was nevertheless willing to believe in the capabilities of the Prophet’s Treasure Tome.
“Lord Gena, if I choose to go underground, what would my specific duties be?” Ivan, coming back to his senses, asked the patiently waiting King of Ten Thousand Woods.
The dramatic shift in his attitude led the other two to quietly speculate about what had just happened.
They came up with nothing.
“Fioqi, you should leave,”
“I’ll wait outside.”
Fioqi had her own sense of propriety. Hearing the King of Ten Thousand Woods’ words, she did not object this time and turned to leave the Truth Hall.
“Before we discuss your duties, let’s talk about the current war. You should have noticed that our internal preparations are far from rigorous,” the King of Ten Thousand Woods finally continued.
Ivan couldn’t help but nod slightly. After becoming an Arcane Wizard, his understanding of sorcerers’ combat capabilities deepened, and he knew that the sense of laxity internally wasn’t for show, but because they genuinely held assurance in handling the Alien Races currently engaged in the war.
“Not to brag, but just the Thunder Race, Black Scale Race, Feather Race—merely three tribes. If we decide to counterattack, crippling their alliance will become as certain as iron. However, those three tribes are not the enemies we urgently wish to eliminate.”
“Who is the real enemy then?”
Upon his words, Ivan timely asked.
“Ivan, you are a person worthy of trust, and that’s why I’m going to share the real situation with you. I hope you keep it in mind and not worry too much about the current state of affairs,” the King of Ten Thousand Woods did not hurry to answer, but emphasized with a solemn expression.
“Who is not trustworthy then?”
Ivan asked subconsciously, then realizing what he implied, he said awkwardly, “I understand, not conducive to unity should not be said.”
“Aptly put.”
“Hehe.”
“In the land of the Montara continent, what we need to guard against is another powerful race—the Polymorphic Race. We cannot give them any opportunity to exploit,” the sorcerer said.
“Our primary target is the traitor who has been resurrected. As long as we execute that traitor successfully, we will then purge our ranks. At that time, the issues in the Beast Plane will no longer stem from internal strife among our sorcerers. Everyone has the responsibility to defend their territory; the current situation will then be easily resolved.”
“Having heard you say this, I feel much more at ease.”
It wasn’t difficult to discern that the Supreme Council was already contemplating ways to execute the traitor. Ivan wisely refrained from probing any further.
It wasn’t a matter of trust; the fewer people who knew about these things, the better.
“You can probably guess your own duties.”
“Colonizing a piece of land for human habitation?”
“Exactly, establish a secure place to live—it’s better to be safe than sorry,” said the King of Ten Thousand Woods, then added, “There’s no rush for this task, and you won’t have to do it alone. Once you have a plan, more people will assist you.”
“I understand.”
Ivan, of course, knew that there was no urgency, as the lands of the underground world were already owned.
A new power appearing there suddenly, with the intent of settling for the long haul, would inevitably face pushback from the surrounding forces and perhaps from the entire first layer of the underground world.
He had once heard a saying in the underground world that only those races who lost in the territorial disputes below would retreat to the surface world.
This saying not only revealed a sense of contempt that the underground races had for those on the surface but also nakedly reflected the cruel order of the underground world: only the victors had the right to thrive there.
Outside the Truth Hall, Phoebe stood not far from the entrance, gazing into the sky, her thoughts drifting to an unknown place.
Inside the Truth Hall, the King of Ten Thousand Woods and Ivan had a long exchange.
After quite a while, Ivan emerged from one of the many doorways at his leisure, noticing Phoebe in her wide, long robe still standing there.
He didn’t care and went straight to the outside of the Floating City.
“Wait, Sorcerer Ivan.”
“Sorcerer Phoebe, is there something you need?” Ivan asked, stopping in surprise.
“You are a scholar of broad knowledge,” Phoebe flattered him, then requested, “I’d like you to take a look at something for me, to see if you can identify any information from it. How about it?”
Her approach was to cast a wide net, but Ivan did not refuse.
“It’s a small matter.”
Seeing his agreement, Phoebe took out a purple crystal box, opened it in front of him, and revealed the item inside.
A clump of dark gray smoke, filled with an exceedingly ominous aura.
The smoke slowly churned, occasionally forming into a fierce, malevolent face.
Ivan’s heart stirred as he recognized that familiar face; it was the King of Green Thunder’s, who had already been sacrificed. This was not a good omen.
“Where did this come from?”
“It’s from the Truth Crystal Ball that the King of Green Thunder always used.”
Phoebe hesitated for a moment but still answered his question.
“May I take a closer look?” Ivan asked again.
“No problem, but try not to touch it, to avoid contaminating your soul,” Phoebe advised, gently pushing the crystal box, which slowly glided towards him.
“Roar!”
Unexpectedly, as it got close to Ivan, the fierce face within the dark gray smoke became particularly agitated, as if it were ready to fiercely confront Ivan, but it was restrained by the box and couldn’t come any closer.
At that moment, Ivan detected a trace of a vaguely familiar essence mixed with a sense of familiarity from long ago.
He narrowed his eyes at the sinister face, recalling his memories quickly.
“Sorcerer Ivan, have you discovered something?”
Phoebe, seeing his contemplative demeanor, did not dare to disturb him until he seemed to have an epiphany, and she eagerly asked, her speech inadvertently carrying a tone of respect.
Facing her expectant gaze, Ivan nodded slightly.
“Shall we find a place to discuss this in more detail?”
“Sure.”
Phoebe glanced around, agreeing wholeheartedly, and quickly closed and put away the crystal box, disregarding the desires of the face in the dark gray smoke.
Then, the two left the Floating City and headed to 3 Sky Street in the Scholars’ Court, Golden Rock Tower.
