Seeing the message board in front of him, Arvin got the gist of how to control the panel of his mischief system. Now all that is left for him to do is to start using it. But before he could do so, he had some questions that he wanted answers to…
'Hey Dobby, can you explain something to me?'
[Yes, Host ask away.]
'You said the level denoted in the panel will portray my strength in comparison to the strongest being on the floor correct?'
[Yes.]
'What is the power level of the strongest being of this floor?'
[I am afraid I can't give you an answer to that question. The host has to seek out the strongest being himself.]
'That figures… Another thing, does the strongest of all the floors differ in strength?'
[Yes. Higher the one goes in Yggdrasil, the stronger the beings will get.]
'Ok. That's comforting. Another thing, what if somebody from says second floor comes to this floor. Then how will it affect my level.'
[No being from a higher floor can come to a lower floor. This is the restriction of Yggdrasil.]
'So if I went to the second floor then I won't be able to come down to the first floor?'
[No. You will be able to come.]
'So earthlings can come down and go up the floor as they like?'
[Yes. But the restrictions of Yggdrasil is not that simple.]
'Explain'
[A being that is born on a floor can only go to a higher floor. It cannot go to a lower floor.]
'So a person from the second floor can only go to the 3rd floor or higher?'
[That is correct.]
'Then if that logic is applied, then people from 1st can go to any floor?'
[Yes.]
'Cool… that means that people on the 1st floor are very versatile people. They could be used for labor on all the floors…' Arvin started thinking. As he listened to the story of the Cullens then he got motivated. He thought he should open a business on one of the floors like Cullens…
[That might not exactly be the case host.]
'What do you mean Dobby?'
[People on the 1st floor may be versatile. But they have a drawback…]
'What?'
[They will not be able to survive higher floors]
'What? Why?'
[Higher floors have a different atmosphere to compensate for the power of beings on that floor.]
'So?'
[Beings from the higher floor have stronger bodies. So they can withstand the atmosphere and pressure of higher floors. But beings on the 1st floor don't have strong bodies. And they also don't possess the potential to reach such heights.]
'So humans… I mean earthlings possess strong bodies?'
[No. But they all possess the potential to attain such physique.]
'So we can evolve and attain such a physique?'
[Yes. All the earthlings possess such.]
'That is amazing… Now the next thing. Explain Exp to me clearly.'
[I don't understand your question.]
'I did a forced mission. But that didn't give me any sort of Exp. And how the hell did running away from Alman and his goons had made me stronger?'
[I understand your question. For that you should first what Exp refers to.]
'Go on.'
[Host tell me what do you think strength is?]
'It could have different meanings depending on the situation.'
[Correct. The strength that I am here referring to is battle prowess]
'So?'
[How can one increase one's battle prowess?]
'Through exercise?'
[That will increase your body's strength. But not battle prowess.]
'So how does one increase its battle prowess?'
[Through getting experience. Through fighting death battles.]
'So does that mean that the quests that I will receive will have a mortal danger to increase my battle prowess?'
[Yes. Most of them will have mortal danger.]
'That is relieving…'
[This is the part where earthlings differ from normal beings of the world.]
'How?'
[Although one might receive quests that may face life-threatening danger, not all quests are like that.]
'So?'
[But every quest will give earthlings some exp. So do you know how is that possible?]
'How?'
[Blessing of gods. That is the power that makes an earthling differ from a being from Yggdrasil.]
'Explain.'
[When a being from Yggdrasil lives through a life-threatening battle then he gains some experience. But if earthling faces a similar situation then not only, he gains experience, because of the blessing his. her body will get evolve through that experience. That means that if a earthlings face a large number of life-threatening battles, he or she will evolve in a better version than before the battle.]
'So what about non-life-threatening quests?'
[In that case, the blessing will still make you stronger.]
'Well… that feels like cheating.'
[This is how this world works.]
'Dobby, one more thing. What about the Apostles? Surely we are different from other earthlings'
[Yes. Apostoles are different from normal earthlings.]
'How?'
[Think of it like this. The amount of exp a player or earthling could have been predetermined by GM. So if there was a quest to kill a rat, according to GM code let's say 5 exp should have been given to the player for this quest. But exp given to the apostle will be determined by the god whom the earthling or player is loyal to.]
'Does that mean that Lopt guy can make me very powerful?'
[No. He could not do that. According to the code of Yggdrasil, there is a limit for exp give as a reward for a quest. Like the example about killing that rat. If a player performs exceptionally well, then the max rewards given to the player would be 5 exp. Based on your performance you will either get 5 exp or lower.
But this rule doesn't apply to Apostoles. Even if they perform very poorly, Gods are entitled to give their apostles the maximum amount
of exp.]
'Woah. That is so cool.'
[But the only drawback of being an apostle is that, if the god mood is sore for any reason then if he/she decides that no reward should be given out for your performance. Then it will come true,]
'Fuck. But normal earthlings will always receive a reward?'
[Yes. But this cannot be said for sure in the case of Apostoles.]
'That is a big drawback… Fine we will see what happens in the future.]
[Host, quests have been updated. Would you like to have a look at them?]
'Sure.'
