Second Try Idol

Chapter 75: Chronos History (19)

Chapter 75: Chronos History (19)

The audience’s murmur rippled through the air as Endoros froze in their tracks. The unscripted drama unfolded—an unexpected intruder invaded the stage, disrupting the scene. With resolve etched on my face, I approached the intruder, firmly grasped his arm, and briskly escorted him offstage. As soon as we stepped down, a swarm of security rushed to us, swiftly whisking the man out of sight.

It was the epitome of a live broadcast gone awry. The melody ceased, and Endoros, caught in uncertainty, withdrew into the shadows of the backstage. Flurried staff handed us a hastily revised script as I rejoined my co-hosts, Goh Yoo-Joon and Yoo Ji-Eun, at the helm of the show.

“Uh... We encountered a slight hiccup.”

“Yes, a minor snag on stage, but rest assured, it's under control.”

“Our sincerest apologies to Endoros for the abrupt disruption. Shall we revisit their splendid performance?”

“Indeed, shall we?” Grasping the microphone, I settled beside senior Ji-Eun, and she subtly slid the updated script to me. I perused it quickly and, with an unwavering smile, said, “We are sorry about the interruptions. Let’s resume! Please welcome back Endoros for ‘Third Confession.’”

Endoros reemerged, reigniting their act. In an instant, the audience's discontent dissolved, replaced by a sea of supportive cheers.

“Ah, shoot. The show is ruined.” Yoo-Joon’s words dripped with dismay as he shuffled through the cue cards.

“No, not at all! We managed the mishap admirably. Why the long face? And thank you, really.”

Yoo Ji-Eun offered a comforting pat on my back before averting her gaze. I simply returned the hastily discarded bouquet to a staff member and downplayed my role. "It's really nothing."

The broadcast proceeded seamlessly to its climax—the announcement of the weekly champion. But could the audience’s reaction mirror the show's composed conclusion?

“And this week’s first place goes to...” Fireworks burst and filled the sky. After that, I tensed up my shoulder and continued, “High Tension's ‘You Are Shining!’ A round of applause for their victory!”

Living up to their prestigious label, High Tension clinched the top position right in their debut week. I then presented the trophy and bouquet, sharing a heartfelt embrace with Ji-Hyuk to cap off the show.

As “You Are Shining” serenaded the closing moments, I approached Ji-Hyuk, offering my congratulations with a shoulder pat. “Congratulations, hyung.”

“Ah, I didn’t expect to get the first Countdown trophy from Hyun-Woo. It's beyond words.”

“You’re amazing, hyung. Congratulations. I should head back now.”

After all, High Tension owned the spotlight today. However, just as I was about to make my exit, Ji-Hyuk pulled me aside, whispering, “The internet is abuzz.”

“Ah...”

“Take a look when you can.”

I bowed in respect and quickly retreated backstage. The staff was engulfed in a whirl of activity, so they hardly noticed our departure. I discreetly made my way to the waiting room, being careful not to intrude.

“Why today of all days! This is unbelievable.” Our manager's frustration was palpable. The day's chaos had derailed our carefully orchestrated promotional plans.

“Hey, come over here,” Yoo-Joon called, engrossed in the manager’s phone.

“Is it about the incident?”

“Yes.”

I then took the phone he offered. “Good job today, regardless.”

Having wrapped up his discussion with the director and Ji-Eun's manager, the manager ushered us out of the waiting room. I was reading the article on the phone as we were led away.

[Endoros Stage’s Audience Intrusion Incident. Chronos Suh Hyun-Woo’s Response Becomes a Topic of Discussion]

(A photo of a man intruding during Endoros’s stage, another photo of Suh Hyun-Woo pulling the man off the stage.JPG)

[Seoul Entertainment Reporter Kim Hye-Min] A commotion arose when a male audience member intruded on the stage during Endoros’s performance, leaving fans shaken. Endoros was performing their song ‘Third Confession’ on UNET's main music broadcast.

However, just as the song's intro started, a middle-aged man caused a stir by jumping on the stage. The man was removed from the stage by Suh Hyun-Woo, a member of the idol group Chronos, who was hosting Countdown at the time.

Both the audience and Endoros were surprised, but thanks to the quick response of the Countdown hosts (Yoo Ji-Eun, Suh Hyun-Woo, Goh Yoo-Joon) and Endoros, the performance successfully concluded.

According to an official, the man was isolated until the end of the broadcast and was not reported to the police as there were no significant incidents. A representative from Endoros's agency commented, "The members were just startled and took it as a minor mishap. There’s no need to worry."

Meanwhile, Chronos member Suh Hyun-Woo, who had rushed to the scene faster than the staff and pulled the man down from the stage, was drawing attention for his response, which was impressive for a newcomer.

After reading this, I asked, “Huh? Why is In-Hyun hyung angry?”

“What?”

I handed the phone back to the manager as we got into the car. “There was an incident during the live broadcast, but I don’t think we have anything to be upset about, right?”

Of course, the nature of the incident was pretty bad, but it wasn’t us who were performing at the moment. No one was hurt, and the articles were actually portraying me in a very positive light.

“Hyung, did you see the article?”

“I only saw the one about the incident.”

As I recited the part about me from the article, our manager, who had been grumbling in anger, fell silent. Trying to console him, I said, “The MCing went well, considering it was during our scene that the incident happened. We also got praised for handling it well. From our perspective, it’s a really good thing.”

Back at the dorm, I uploaded a photo with Yoo-Joon on BlueBird to reassure our worried and angry fans that we were fine. I also calmed my parents who had called in shock.

“Hyun-Woo hyung is awesome. Even as a guy, I have to admit that it was really cool.” Jin-Sung passed by, adding his compliment.

I chatted with the Team D members on the messenger app, not making a big deal out of the incident. However, this incident was not something that would just fade away because I said it was okay.

[Chronos] Yoo-Joon, Hyun-Woo's Countdown MC Audience Review (Mention of That Incident)

?? | 20××.07.24 20:28

(Audience wristband verification photo.JPG)

I hurriedly applied for audience participation when our “kids” unexpectedly became MCs, and I got selected. First of all, their appearance and outfit were amazing. I became a fan after Pick We Up ended, so this was my first time seeing them in person, and they were so unbelievably good-looking that it was like an eye-opener hahaha...

For the record, my favorite is center Cha-Cha, Hyun-Woo.

We met up with the Rings(Chronos fans) after entering the broadcasting station and then waited for their car. I'm not sure if they did it intentionally, but they parked near where we were waiting, greeted us, and left. That was my first eye-opening moment.

They asked if we weren't hot, but it was cool because of their refreshing presence ahhhh.

Then we sent the kids off and split into the audience team and the café team.

It was the most fun I've ever had at a music show. You should've seen our kids squatting down and greeting us before their entrance! I wondered how they were able to handle that cringy hosting, but surprisingly, both of them were quite witty. Every time they got embarrassed, they sought comfort from Ji-Eun.

When the Rings cheered them on, saying it was okay and they were doing well, Hyun-Woo got even more embarrassed. LMAO, I wanted to record it so badly. I felt like I just got Lasik surgery because Hyun-Woo’s gorgeousness blessed my eyes. I was feeling great until that bastard showed up. If not for him, today could've been my second birthday. That asshole.

During the commercial after the first part ended, Yoo-Joon left his seat for a moment, and Hyun-Woo was just squatting down, looking crushed. But then that crazy fucker suddenly barged in, shoving through the audience and going toward the stage.

Even though it wasn't broadcasted, when Hyun-Woo saw the man looking at Ji-Eun, he immediately shielded her... My boy was so cool at that moment... After that, the security forcibly dragged the man out and the second part started. However, that fucker broke in again and stormed the stage.

That’s when Hyun-Woo quickly went and pulled the man off.

The Endoros fans and I were cursing, but Yoo-Joon and Ji-Eun covered it well. After that, Hyun-Woo joined them again as if nothing had happened. The rest of the time went well, but honestly, after it ended, the mood among the Rings was really heavy :’( Worried if our kid got hurt... And then the kids posted a picture on BlueBird, cheers to them...

└ Why am I feeling so fluttered that Hyun-Woo protected Ji-Eun... Am I crazy?

└ Hyun-Woo!!! I watched the live broadcast and was so worried. It was such a brave action, but please be careful for your Rings.

└ I feel like I am trash for finding it romantic when Hyun-Woo was in danger.

└ Dang, me too... The way Hyun-Woo immediately shielded Ji-Eun as soon as the man looked at her and how he rushed to pull the intruder off the stage was epic. Such a young guy... but, ah... don’t test this noona to check how much I can like you...

└ What the fuck is UNET doing? Why haven’t they made a statement yet? It’s infuriating.

A fan who witnessed Suh Hyun-Woo and Goh Yoo-Joon's hosting posted their experience on an online community site. Given the sensational nature of the incident, the other audience members started sharing their stories as well. Each post attracted significant attention.

Chronos fans voiced their anger and concern, yet they also showered praise on Suh Hyun-Woo and Goh Yoo-Joon for their adept handling of the situation. Even Endoros's fans visited Chronos's fan community to express their gratitude.

└ Hello, I’m a Give (Endoros fan)! Thank you so much, Hyun-Woo, for protecting Endoros!!!

└ I came here after seeing the news! I’m a Give. Thank you for looking after our kids. I'll support Chronos when they debut!

└ Has the debut date of the Chronos been determined?

└ I came after reading what happened on Endoros’s fan page! I’m a Give, but I will definitely buy Chronos’s album. I hope you guys thrive. Thank you so much!

No one had expected them to become supporters for Chronos’s debut. In fact, Give was the fandom of Ash Black’s senior group under SM Entertainment, and they had a strained relationship with the Rings up until Pick We Up.

However, that had nothing to do with them expressing their gratitude. The rift between the fandoms melted away under the threat posed to their favorite artists by the intruder, and it somehow forged an alliance in support of Chronos’s debut.

Moreover, after reading the audience reviews and articles released by Yoo Ji-Eun’s agency, it became known that the perpetrator of the incident was actress Yoo Ji-Eun’s stalker. Her hardcore fandom felt sorry for the situation and promised to support Chronos by purchasing their debut album and voting for them on Countdown.

This was a significant boost for Chronos, especially as their debut coincided with that of Street Center.

However, unlike YMM, which experienced a positive impact from this good deed, the atmosphere at UNET and Yoo Ji-Eun’s agency was grave. Regardless of the circumstances, a problem had occurred during their shooting, putting the cast in potential. Therefore, they had to prepare appropriate compensation.
