Chapter 225 The Lost Feeling
Klaus was taken aback when Joanna suddenly embraced him, tears streaming down her face. He heard her emotional plea for him to forgive Edward. The surprise was evident on his face because he never expected his little sister to beg like this.
Joanna knelt on the ground, clutching Klaus's arm, and softly begged, "Please, Klaus, forgive Edward. Don't kill him."
Confusion enveloped Klaus as he tried to comprehend his sister's plea. Klaus then reached for her shoulder and tried to comfort Joanna, saying, "Calm down. I'm not going to kill Edward."
Klaus lied. He wouldn't let Edward live after what had happened. This dungeon was the perfect place to dispose of his cousin. He would just delay it for a while.
However, Joanna didn't feel relieved immediately. She continued to plead with Klaus to forgive Edward, which, of course, made him even angrier. As he wanted to use the [Sleep Wave] on his little sister, Joanna suddenly unraveled his wickedness.
"I know everything, Klaus! I know about your plan to eliminate the entire Jacob and Edward crew. Please! Don't make me hate my brother even more!"
Naturally, Klaus was shocked. He wondered where his sister had gotten this information.
"What are you saying, Joanna? I'm not killing them," Klaus said, pretending.
"Cut the bullshit!" Edward chimed in. "Little sister isn't stupid. She can see through your lies."
Narrowing his eyes, Klaus gave Edward a warning look to stay out of it, but Edward didn't back down.
"Jacob has exposed your wickedness, Klaus, and your sister is defending you desperately, refusing to accept the fact that you're a killer."
"Shut your mouth before I cut your tongue," Klaus retorted.
What his cousin said made Klaus even angrier. He wanted to truly resurrect Jacob from the dead and kill him again. His blood was boiling, and he looked serious about the idea in his head.
"Stop it."
A soft voice escaped Joanna.
Giving him a hopeful look, Joanna held Klaus's hand warmly. She then said gently, "I don't want you to become a monster like he said. Don't make me hate my own brother."
Joanna's words pained his heart and made him reflect. He could read in his sister that she truly knew who he really was, and she was trying to compromise with that. If Klaus actually killed Edward, it was not impossible for Joanna to truly hate him.
Taking a deep breath, Klaus calmed his anger, trying to clear his mind again. He rolled his eyes to Edward.
"Get out of my sight before I change my mind and bring your unconscious girlfriend."
Rising with trembling legs, Edward walked to where Ava was unconscious. His steps staggered, and his body hunched from his injuries. As he carried Ava, Klaus suddenly called him.
"Take this!"
Klaus threw a bottle containing golden-blue liquid, and Edward caught it with one hand. Edward raised an eyebrow as he realized the liquid was an [Elixir].
Edward grinned weakly before leaving.
Now, Joanna looked better. A smile spread across her face, although her eyes were swollen, and Klaus was glad to see her like this.
For the umpteenth time, he set aside his ego for his little sister.
"I'm proud of you," Joanna said.
After an emotional moment between the two siblings, Klaus heard someone calling his name loudly. He immediately turned to the source of the sound and saw Justin running towards him. Justin suddenly hugged Klaus tightly and shook his body.
"Klaus! Thank goodness! You finally came! I thought we were going to fucked up but thank God. You're truly amazing!"
Justin acted like a little brother meeting his older brother, and it annoyed Klaus. He flicked Justin on the head.
"Ow! Why'd you do that?" Justin winced in pain.
"Stay calm," Klaus said irritably. "How many times do I have to say it? You're the guild master."
"Okay, okay. My bad," Justin said, rubbing his head. His face turned sour as he clicked his tongue.
Shaking his head, Klaus couldn't believe how Justin always acted childish in these situations. But at the same time, he felt relieved that this guy was okay.
"At least you're not in bad shape," he said.
Justin smiled.
Not long after, Sylvia and other crew members joined them. They looked fine, although there were some bruises from the previous battle. Sylvia held her arm, which was a bit sore, but she smiled with relief.
"Are you okay?" Klaus asked with concern.
"We're fine."
But it wasn't Sylvia who answered, but Akio.
As usual, Akio always looks carefree. He even looked like someone who had just woken up from a nap rather than someone who had suffered a crushing defeat.
All the missing crew members had gathered, and they were all grateful for Klaus's help. However, they had no idea that Klaus had sabotaged this raid. They were even more surprised when they found Jacob's gruesome corpse. They wondered what had happened, including Justin. Joanna and Sylvia kept their mouths shut, as if they hadn't seen anything. Akio, on the other hand, seemed to know something but acted indifferent.
"The situation is very bad. We should leave here before the monsters come," Klaus suggested.
Before leaving, they looted the camp. Klaus ordered them to take everything that could still be used. They had no supplies left since the camp had burned down in the battle. Jacob had taken Justin's spatial ring and emptied it. They wouldn't have enough foods until they met Olivia.
On their way to the elf village, Sylvia looked extremely happy as she walked by Klaus's side. An uncontrollable smile was on her face.
"Klaus, I'm so grateful you came and saved us. I was really worried," Sylvia tried to start a conversation.
However, Klaus was not very perceptive. He responded to Sylvia with a flat expression.
"Shouldn't it be that way? Every time you get into trouble, I have to come and save you," Klaus replied, slightly irritated.
Scratching her head, Sylvia realized she chose the wrong opening words. But she didn't give up. Sylvia drew closer to Klaus, touching his hand with hers. She tried to signal Klaus, but he didn't get it.
Sylvia nudged Klaus several times but still didn't get a response. Gritting her teeth, she was really getting frustrated. She almost lost her patience and wanted to grab him, but at the same time, she was afraid that Klaus would get angry with her.
"You're too close," Klaus scolded. "There's plenty of room to walk."
In the end, Sylvia sighed in disappointment.
"Aye, aye," she said with annoyance in her voice.
Of course, Klaus could hear that. He didn't understand why this woman suddenly got pissed off.
As Sylvia pouted, Akio passed by her side and patted her on the shoulder.
"Be patient," he whispered. Akio winked at her before picking up the pace.
Sylvia heard some crew members chuckling. They apparently knew that she had feelings for Klaus and that he was indifferent to it, which made Sylvia even angrier.
Meanwhile, Klaus wore a puzzled expression. He didn't understand the current situation until a soft whisper echoed in his head.
<My liege, you're really clueless.>
Klaus raised his eyebrow. "Laplace, I haven't heard your voice in a long time. You didn't even show up when I was fighting those goons."
Laplace sounded like she was chuckling in his head, and it made Klaus furrow his brow. This was unusual. The fire spirit had always been polite when she spoke to him since Klaus bound her with the [Soul Contract]. And now, she was acting like an annoying girlfriend.
"What's so funny, Laplace?" Klaus said through his thoughts.
<Yes, my liege.>
Naturally, Klaus raised one of his eyebrows.
"If that's the case, just say it. You know I don't like people beating around the bush, right?" he said in a warning tone.
<Sorry if I've annoyed you. But I couldn't help but laugh when I saw you treating that woman so bad. At the same time, I feel sorry for her.>
"Spending too long in a human body has made you softer. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed in you. Remember who you really are," Klaus said firmly.
<Yes, my liege. But it's a bit sad to see a woman likes you and try hard to get your attention, but you treat her with coldness.>
"Yeah, I know. I'm a competent leader. It's only natural that I treat her the same as the others."
<I will correct my previous statement. She sees you as a man, has her feelings for you. I mean, she loves you.>
Suddenly, Klaus stopped walking. Her last sentence froze him. After hundreds of years living life and reincarnating, he finally heard the word "love."
...
Inside the luxurious chamber, Lord Aymon knelt before the High Queen, who sat on a throne crafted from the golden roots of a tree. He had come to deliver a report to the queen about a massive explosion that had occurred roughly 75 kilometers from the Tree of Life.
"We have received reports of a significant explosion near the Tree of Life. It appears to be the aftermath of a fierce battle," Lord Aymon said with a grave expression.
The High Queen clenched her hands tightly, her face reflecting deep concern. Something was haunting her thoughts at this moment.
"Did 'that person' do it?" she asked, trembling.
Lord Aymon nodded with a bitter expression, confirming the High Queen's suspicion. "Yes, your grace."
The High Queen pondered for a moment, realizing they would face a significant challenge in the days to come. She felt this was a bad omen.
"Your grace, there is one more thing I must inform you of," Lord Aymon said, a touch of concern in his voice.
The High Queen rolled her eyes at Lord Aymon. "What is it?"
"Arwen, one of our guards, apprehended three humans while they were patrolling near the village."
Rising from her throne, the High Queen was shocked by the news. "What has become of them now?"
Lord Aymon explained carefully, "They are staying in Arwen's house as her guests."
This information surprised the High Queen even more. It was unexpected and could have an impact on the elves' future. She needed to take action immediately.
"Tell Arwen to have them brought before me tomorrow morning."
"Yes, your grace."
After receiving her orders, Lord Aymon promptly left the queen's chamber.
