Chapter 1486 Signing the Deal

"30 thousand gold coins?" Zarius asked, unable to understand just how much it was that he was being offered. He had a total of around 35 thousand gold coins provided to him for the current research he was doing.

When he completed the research and invented these echolocation devices, the sale of it would be what the sponsors would get back. It was called an investment because there was a chance of failure with no money back for the sponsors.

And Ning wanted to nearly double his research funds. Zarius wondered if he was being toyed with and looked toward Jacob who sat in the distance and got a nod of approval from him.

Zarius took a deep breath. "Thank you for this, Sir Ning," Zarius said as he stood up and shook Ning's hand. "I promise you, I will finish this invention within the next 2 months now."

Ning smiled. "I will wait for it," he said. Zarius looked toward one of the guards and gestured something. The bodyguard walked forward and pulled out a briefcase he had been holding this entire time, opening it to reveal a bunch of documents inside.

Zarius pulled out one of the documents and handed it to his daughter, who began writing on it. She paused at one point and looked up.

"What is your full name?" she asked.

"Is that for me to sign?" Ning asked.

"Yes," the girl said. "This is a binding document to keep us to each other's words."

"If that is so then do not write my name in it," Ning said.

The girl frowned, putting down the pen to look at Ning. Zarius frowned as well. "Sir Ning. I thought you said you were ready to invest."

"I am," Ning said. "I simply don't want it under me."

He turned around toward the two that were sitting comfortably, with not a care in the world. "You two, come here. You have a few documents to sign."

"What?" Jasmine asked, realizing that she had been called. "What do you want?"

Ning ignored her. "Please make 2 documents with 15 thousand gold coins each. The sponsor in one of them will be Timothy Orstar, from City of New Tremala in Ordain kingdom."

"As for the other one, she is Jasmine from Warfort," Ning said.

The girl quickly wrote down everything she was told to write even though she was clearly surprised by the whole ordeal.

Jasmine and Tim arrived next to Ning, surprised that it was their name that was going to be attached to this investment. "Why are you doing this?" Jasmine asked.

"Just leaving you with some earnings," Ning said. "You will need it."

The young girl Arya filled up the document and handed it over to the two to sign up.

Timothy and Jasmine quickly signed the documents before sitting back on the couch.

"Do you not wish to sign at all, Sir Ning?" Zarius asked.

"No, it's alright," Ning said.

"I see. Then our task here is done, I believe. I'm sorry I cannot keep you company for long. I need to get back to work immediately."

"Please, don't let me stop you," Ning said and stood up. "But I do have a few questions that I hope you won't mind answering on your way to your workshop."

"Please ask. I will answer any question that I can," Zarius said as he stood up and began to leave. His daughter left with him.

Ning followed them.

"Your inventions are so different and so varied. Is there a reason why you come up with so many ideas from so many different fields?" Ning asked.

"I fear that is just how my mind works. I see an issue, I come up with a solution, regardless of if I have ever worked on it," Zarius said. "I can't help it, you know."

"I understand that," Ning said. "Then I have another question about your latest invention. Your 'Instant Painter'."

"What about it?" Zarius asked.

"How did you come up with that idea?" Ning asked.

"Oh, I saw painters struggling to make paintings of people correctly every time, and I decided to help them a bit by making their work automatic. They could capture real-life paintings with the snap of their fingers, and that is what I made," the man said.

"True, true," Ning said. "And then, do you have any idea when you'll make a television?"

Zarius looked back with a confused look. "I'm sorry. What is that?" he asked.

"I mean, you made a camera, so it won't be long before the camera takes videos. And those videos have to be shown somewhere, shouldn't they? So you should be making Televisions soon enough."

Zarious seemed truly puzzled. "I'm afraid I do not understand what you mean," he said. "The terms you are using, they must be in another language or something."

"I understand," Ning said. "Then, what about your system?"

"My system of work? I thought I already answered that. I see and problem and I fix it. That's it," Zarius said.

One of the guards stopped to stop Ning from moving down the flight of stairs that led somewhere.

"I'm sorry but you cannot come beyond here, Sir Ning. I will meet you when I can later or tomorrow."

Zarius left, walking away with the set of guards toward his workshop.

Ning watched them leave and smiled.

Tim and Jasmine arrived behind him, looking at the people that walked away.

"What was that about? What did you say?" Tim asked.

"I wanted to see if he knew the words I said or not," Ning said. "I needed to find out if he has a system or not helping him with these inventions."

"What's that?" Jasmine asked.

Ning shrugged.

"Did he have this thing?" Tim asked.

"No, he doesn't have it," Ning said, but he was unable to keep the smile away from his face.

Zarius did not react to the words Television or Camera. But someone else did.

"It's his daughter," Ning said softly. "She's the one with the system."
