“How come it turned dark?”

“I can’t see anything either.”

The second level of the Floating Temple was enshrouded in complete darkness!

In the Normal-level dungeon, this darkness was caused by Black Pearls which would be refreshed every 10 minutes, thus reducing the players’ visibility. As long as the Black Pearls were smashed, their vision would be restored.

However in the Expert-level dungeon, to increase its difficulty levels, players’ vision was set at 0 right from when they stepped into the second level of the Floating Temple!

“Stay together,” said Lin Jie. Even though he had the Wolf Soul Necklace which gave him Night View +15, he also had difficulty seeing the surroundings clearly.

“We need to stand back to back. Listen to my instructions.”

“Move 10 steps to your left, then move 6 steps in front. The first Black Pearl should be there.”

All of them gathered around in a circle, clenched their weapons, and walked towards the designated spot cautiously. The second level of the Floating Temple would refresh monsters known as the Bomb Throwers, which were actually Goblins. Under the cover of darkness, these monsters were almost invincible. If anyone managed to lure their aggro, they would be chased to their deaths.

Following Lin Jie’s instructions, the five men moved forward carefully.

Lost Camel sniffed the air and said in a low voice, “There are monsters three steps ahead.”

Lin Jie was shocked. He could remember the coordinates of the Black Pearls, but could not remember where the monsters were at. As such, the group had to change their direction.

However, it was strange that Lost Camel could distinguish the monsters around them, even though they were robbed of their visions. This was pretty amazing.

“What skill is this?” asked Dejected Night curiously.

“It’s just an inborn talent of mine,” said Lost Camel proudly. “I was bitten by dogs when I was young, and hence my nose became extremely sensitive to any signs of danger.”

Everyone acknowledged his words with a long “Oh———”, but they all decisively dismissed the second half of his sentence. They guessed that this goofball most probably had some secret that he did not wish to reveal now. After all, this fellow was always full of gibberish—who would really believe him?

Besides, they were not in a fantasy world.

Lin Jie stretched out his hands and touched the sleek rounded object in front of him. He pulled out Broken Blade, activated Army Obliteration and stabbed into the object without any hesitation. After he heard a slight crisp sound, he shouted, “Everyone, run and take cover!”

Shoosh!

All the people present here were experts, and their reaction speeds were fast—even for Dejected Night, who was infamous due to his reputation in Lin Jie’s previous life. At the first sound of the Black Pearl’s rupture, they all managed to escape to a safe place.

“Wahahaha, the bomb is coming!”

A sharp scream was heard, and there was a loud explosion where the Black Pearl was previously located! This was the attack by the Bomb Thrower, which would reduce its target’s health bar cap by 500 points maximally. If hit by this, the player’s health bar would remain as such until he got out from the dungeon. Considering most of the current players’ stats, as long as they got hit once, it would be hard for them to survive in this dungeon.

“The next Black Pearl is about 50 yards to our left. I am not too sure of what path we should take to get there,” said Lin Jie, who had a big frown on his head. His limited vision had clearly affected his judgment. After all, he was not Superman! It was already an amazing feat that he could lead the team till this far in the darkness.

“Let me lead the way,” said Lost Camel. After which, the team could hear him sniffing hardly with every step they took. The sounds were especially obvious in the dark.

Dejected Night couldn’t help but comment, “The way this dungeon was designed, it seems as if the game designers are just intentionally making things difficult for players.”

Lin Jie smiled. “To be honest, it isn’t that difficult to clear this part. If one can’t find where the Black Pearls are located at, he can send 10 Shield Specialists to pave the way and let them smash all the Black Pearls before they die. The team can then replace these Shield Specialists with other people.”

“10 Shield Specialists... which scumbag would be that inconsiderate!” exclaimed Mixed Breathless indignantly as he rolled his eyes.

Lin Jie also rolled his eyes. ‘Wasn’t that ‘scumbag’ you, who came up with this idea in the first place?’

In Lin Jie’s previous life, this tactic was developed by Mixed Breathless. When he was still unnoticed by players in the game, Mixed Breathless had made a living for himself at the Floating Temple for a long time with nine of his Shield Specialists followers. Together, they did nothing else but offer services of helping other teams smash the Black Pearls.

“There’s one Black Pearl right in front,” said Lost Camel as he stopped not far away from a Black Pearl.

Lin Jie instructed everyone else to stay put, activated Wind Rider Blade Aura Executioner and pierced through the Black Pearl from a distance.

With a powerful guide like Lost Camel around, the team actually managed to breeze through this originally super difficult part of this dungeon. When the fourth Black Pearl was smashed, the place finally lit up.

Hundreds of Bomb Throwers screamed, ran around hysterically and threw bombs everywhere, without giving a damn about their companions. It was as if an entire ants’ nest was being dropped down and overturned all at once.

“Should we kill them?” Ice started to form in Dejected Night’s hands as he began to chant the spells for Frost Nova.

Lin Jie thought about it and shook his head.

“Wait!” Before they proceeded further, Lin Jie suddenly seemed to discover that the team was missing somebody.

“Childe, where are you? Did you fall into a Goblin’s pit?” asked Lin Jie in the team’s group chat.

“Oh the heck of you all, I am still on the first level! You group of goofballs, I will never forgive you for this! Ah... my butt!” An angry voice shouted out from the communication device, ending the sentence in a splutter.

“Oh dear, can you still hold on?” Cold sweat broke out on Lin Jie’s forehead as if he had really forgotten about Childe’s existence.

The rest of them broke out in laughter when they saw this!

“Hold on? You try when you have hundreds of monsters chasing after you non-stop!” Unexpected Childe screamed through the communication device, but he did not even stop for a single moment while he did this. There were hundreds of Young Lizards behind him now. No matter how strong he was, if they pounced on him altogether for even just half a second, he would die right on the spot!

Lost Camel snorted and said, “If you can’t persist on, admit defeat to me. I will go down to help you immediately.”

Unexpected Childe was infuriated. “To you? Hah! Me here, I can hold on by myself even if I have a few hundreds more monsters chasing me!”

Lin Jie was overjoyed when he heard this. “Great! Then come to the second level right away, there are around 100 plus goblins here. Gather all the monsters together, we will pick you up after we kill the final Boss.”

Unexpected Childe’s response, “[email protected]#¥%...”

No one could interpret what he meant as they only saw a bunch of garbled symbols. However, since he seemed so ‘excited’, they genuinely felt that this most probably meant an ‘OK’.

Well, yes, it must mean that.

If a team could kill all the Young Lizards and Goblins at the same time, they could accomplish a super rare achievement — [One Wave Kill]! In Lin Jie’s previous life, Unexpected Childe could definitely handle all the monsters together effortlessly. However, now... hmm, surely it shouldn’t be that difficult for him, right?

Lost Camel gave a small cough. “Are we too much?”

“He has the ability to do so,” said Lin Jie, “If he really ran into danger, we will rush to his aid immediately, so don’t worry.”

“I haven’t worried about anyone since I was young.” Lost Camel snorted as he threw a look at the first level of the Floating Temple, before proceeding to the third level.

A strange voice sounded, “Ah, what did I see? New slaves!” It came from a gigantic eyeball the size of a house, which was floating in the air!

[Evil Eye]: Level 15 Overlord, Health points: 250,000!

“In the Normal-level dungeon, the Evil Eye will transform and progress to three different states,” explained Mixed Breathless.

“During the first stage, it will summon its avatars one by one, and each avatar has 5,000 health points. When we kill each avatar, the Boss will also lose its health points. During the second stage, three eyeballs will rain down on us every 10 seconds, and we will have to hit the eyeballs back to the Evil Eye by using Counter-Attack type of skills. At its last stage, we will just have to attack it head-on.”

Lin Jie nodded in agreement and said, “The progression stages of the Evil Eye is the same for the Expert-level dungeon, just that it will be slightly more difficult to kill the Boss here.”

“How difficult...?” asked Star Kill.

“For example, during the first stage, it will summon 10 avatars each time.” Lin Jie’s lips twitched.

Everyone stared at him. This was called ‘slightly more difficult’?

All of a sudden, darkness fell upon them! A burst of laughter erupted from the Evil Eye, and an avatar was formed. The avatar had an unclothed human body, and a single disgusting eyeball was framed onto the body’s neck.

[Evil Eye Avatar]: Level 15 Elite, Health Points: 15,000

There was a total of 10 such avatars!

“Loser, come here!” Mixed Breathless taunted, and his shield smashed down five monsters in a row.

The Evil Eye Avatar’s tentacle-like arms slammed onto his shield, causing more than 70 points of Damage! Mixed Breathless heaved a sigh of relief as it was only 70 points. He could still withstand attacks of such scale!

Yet at the next second, the Evil Eye Avatar split both its tentacles into two new tentacles each—its attacks now would be doubled!

“Fu Sheng, I can’t withstand these!”

Mixed Breathless did not try to flaunt his abilities. At the moment his health bar dropped, he shouted for help immediately. As a highly-qualified Shield Specialist, his judgment of his enemies was very accurate. If he had stubbornly tried to resist the attacks by himself when he knew he could not take it, the whole team might be wiped out!

Each time the Evil Eye Avatar split its tentacles, its Attack Power would actually increase by 100%. As long as the splitting process took place for three times, Mixed Breathless would be killed!

Lin Jie nodded and shouted, “Everyone, we’ll try to lure a few monsters each and lead them into a run along the edge of the map. Maintain your health bars as much as possible. After the monsters are refreshed for five times, we will kill them all together!”

Dejected Night was shocked. ‘Let the monsters be refreshed for five times?’

The Normal-level dungeon only refreshed its monsters at most three times, and only one monster would be released each time! Now, there were 10 monsters even before the dungeon had been refreshed. Who could withstand it after it was refreshed five times?

As a short-legged Mage, his Movement Speed was slower than the avatars!

Star Kill and Lost Camel were both agile jobs, and they could move very fast. In fact, they needed to deliberately slow down to maintain the aggro of the avatars they were luring. Berserkers and Shield Specialists had middle-ranged Movement Speeds, but as for Mages... they were known for being slow!

Dejected Night gritted his teeth, and decided to just simply stay at his spot while frost condensed in his hands. He made up his mind, if anyone was in danger, he would help to lure the monsters’ aggro to himself, even if it would result to his own death!

During the first round, Mixed Breathless took on five monsters, Lin Jie lured two, Lost Camel lured two and Star Kill lured one. All was safe.

After ten minutes, the dungeon refreshed a second wave of monsters, and everyone began to feel the stress! Mixed Breathless attracted four more monsters to himself and hurriedly ran to another spot, while the others divided up the remaining six monsters among themselves.

The third wave of monsters was refreshed soon! Everyone wore solemn expressions on their faces now. Dejected Night gritted his teeth even tighter and was ready to cast his spells.

When the fourth wave of monsters was refreshed, half of the entire level was being occupied by all the Evil Eye Avatars! The four of them were under immense pressure. With one wrong step, they would collide into one another and crash into their teammates along with the long train of monsters behind them!

Mixed Breathless had lured 18 monsters, and he made a deadly mistake while moving around—he actually ran to a dead end! Even if he was a Shield Specialist, he would die if he was attacked by so many avatars all at the same time!

“Breathless, run!” A great shout sounded, and all the Evil Eye Avatars were frozen!

Dejected Night was holding up his right hand in the air, and Frost Nova was condensed in his hands. He was trying his very best to control all the avatars’ movement. Mixed Breathless gritted his teeth and escaped from within the monsters!

Suddenly, eight of the avatars turned and rushed towards Dejected Night!

Lin Jie saw what happened. Dejected Night’s actions had finally earned Lin Jie’s acknowledgment!

Hunter’s Forward Charge!

Just at the moment when Dejected Night was about to be pounced on by the avatars, Lin Jie turned into a black shadow and rushed towards him. He made a great leap, activated Ice Spirit Slash and Ice Explosion skills, and thrust out both of his ice-clad swords! All of the Evil Eye Avatars were frozen by him!

Putting a skill book into Dejected Night’s hands, Lin Jie shouted, “Run!”

When Dejected Night looked at the book in his hands, his hands trembled.
