Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 441: Details of the duelChapter 441: Details of the duel
Michael understood why they were all doubtful about his Diva. After all, they thought that the only way that a person could become a Maugnetic was through surgery. And if someone recently became a Maugnetic, then it would have been gossiped around in Metropolis.
Not only that, but he was from the Kings region, which people considered as the backwoods part of the continent. This was probably because the concept of dueling wasn’t widely used in that area, making them seem barbaric and ancient.
To ease their worries, he closed his eyes and summoned his Diva.
The appearance of robotic hands hovered above his stature. The right hand was complete, up to the shoulders. While the left hand was only a single hand.
They all gasped, with Chucky just clapping his hands in amazement. They had never seen this kind of Diva before, as it looked like it was made out of metal that was alive! The lights that pulsated around the ’veins’ of the arms reminded them of the lights from Michael’s mobile truck stall.
This Diva definitively proved that Michael was a Maugnetic.
Claudia couldn’t help but look at Michael in a different light. The boy that she thought stole the heart of her niece ended up becoming a man with a terrific business acumen. And now, he changed again to become a veritable lion with his own set of fangs. She could no longer treat him and his company as inferior.
With Michael’s business and his power, there was a chance for him to cimb through the ranks of Metropolis!
She looked at him, subtly giving him a nod of approval.
“Michael, you have proved your competence to go ahead in this duel,” Claudia announced. “Dicky, does this prove that the two of them are of equal power?”
Dicky observed Michael’s Diva and saw that it was no longer a Diva that was just a little seedling yet to burst through the soil. It was already a plant with its own roots!
“You…you’re in the third stage of Body Formation?!” Dicky shouted. It was one thing for Michael to be a Maugnetic. But it was a completely other thing for him to already be in the third stage while barely in his teens!
He knew just how hard it was to obtain a GodForge piece in the wild. He and Chucky only obtained their own pieces through inheritance. But presumably, Michael didn’t have the same privilege as they had, meaning that he had simply stumbled upon them naturally.
And somehow, he was lucky enough to obtain enough pieces to grow into the third stage! That was absurd to think about.
“Amazing!” Chucky praised. “You’re also in the third stage?! Our battle will be legendary!”
Dicky patted his brother’s shoulder. “Yes, miss Claudia. My brother here is also in the third stage of Body Formation. They are equal in cultivation.”
This meant that they had a right to duel!
Michael was the owner of a company that has yet to prove themselves in Metropolis. Meanwhile Chucky was a janitor from one of the greatest companies in Metropolis. Those two evened out, especially in terms of Maugnetic power.
“The next step is for you to discuss the terms of your agreement. What do you want to achieve in this duel?” Claudia asked Michael.
“I want to learn the method to coat Soo,” he said plainly.
Dicky scratched his hairy chest as he thought about Michael’s proposal. “Normally, the method to coat Soo is a secret that we keep to our graves. Even when people hire us to coat their Mithril Relics, we do not let them watch the process.
The only way that we can reveal is through one specific circumstance: through a duel.
But for us to accept this duel, what can we get in return?”
Claudia looked at Michael. “You have to present something of equal value to them.”
Before Michael could answer, Dicky gave him a solid piece of advice.
“But I have to warn you. You do not have to give something extremely precious to you.
That’s because even if you obtain the secret method to coat Soo, you will not be able to use it yourself. That is because the method is made only for our Hepheasteus lineage. There are people throughout history who have figured out how to modify the method for them to use, but I do not think that you have that kind of expertise.
I’m just saying that this may not be as valuable to you as you might think.”
Michael appreciated Dicky for being honest. The man could have held his tongue and let Michael believe that he could use the formula once he learned it, thereby increasing its value. But he devalued it instead by telling the truth, which only helped Michael.
“I’m okay with that,” Michael replied. “And I am willing to bet 100 kilograms of Damascus Steel.”
Everyone looked at Michael like he was crazy. Even Chucky, who had been patiently waiting for the fight to start couldn’t help but express his shock at the item Michael just put up.
“Damascus Steel?! Something that only Dwarves can make?! Bro, Dicky. Aren’t you collecting those for yourself?”
Dicky was frozen in place, unable to mutter a reply.
If someone were to look all around his room, many would immediately notice his obsession with Dwarven relics. He had been collecting them even when he was a child, spending millions of his own money in black markets to obtain just a single piece of memorabilia.
And in all years of collecting, he was barely even able to get 50 kilograms of Damascus Steel! Yet now, Michael was offering double that as a bet.
“Michael…that’s an extremely valuable item,” Claudia said, with a look of concern in her eyes. “I’m not doubting you, but—”
Before she could even finish her words, Michael used his shadow skill and dropped a large block of Damascus Steel into the ground with a loud thud. This came directly from their forge in the Nation of Reborn and weighed 50 kilograms in total.
“I’ll get the other 50 kilos—”
“That’s fine! We believe you!” Dicky stopped him. He didn’t know how to feel about Michael just casually bringing an entire block of one of the most treasured metals in the world like it was nothing.
Dicky didn’t want to see the Damascus Steel in front of him. He didn’t want to build up his own expectations and get let down if Chucky lost the duel.
Claudia took a deep breath as she tried to compose herself. But how could she act professional when Michael kept dropping surprise after surprise?
“Ahem…anyway, are the two of you in agreement about the duel?”
Michael nodded.
“I think that the Damascus Steel is far too valuable for this duel, but it’s your choice. We agree,” said Dicky.
Once the negotiations were over, Claudia took out two sets of papers and set it down in front of both parties. She seemed to have magically written down the details of the duel, including the prize for the winner.
“Look over the contract and sign your name at the bottom. Once you have done so, the duel will officially be set.”
Chucky didn’t spend much time reading and simply just signed his name on the dotted line.
Michael looked over the contract, with ChatJK4 confirming to him that it looked solid. He then signed his name at the bottom, making the duel official.
