Reborn as a Transcendent

Chapter 595: Let’s Fake It, Your Highness, Saintess!

Chapter 595: Let's Fake It, Your Highness, Saintess!

Half a minute later, Irene finally regained her senses and spoke slowly. "Princess, did you just say you cured Aurora's illness? I didn't mishear, right?" Her voice carried deep disbelief. After all, Aurora's mysterious illness had baffled even the most renowned doctors.

How could someone like Princess, barely an adult, manage to cure her? Besides, she didn’t exactly look like a doctor. ‘Maybe if you said you were good at fighting or charming girls, I’d believe you! But medical skills? Hahaha!' Irene rejected the idea entirely in her mind.

"That's right. In all of Jade City, only I could cure her," Yaeger stated confidently.

"Heh, stop messing with me," Irene smiled, waving a dismissive hand, clearly still in disbelief.

Yaeger smiled as well. Suddenly, a green needle appeared in her hand, and before Irene could react, it was swiftly stabbed into her shoulder.

"Ouch!" Irene let out an unexpected, cute yelp. Her expression quickly shifted to astonishment.

"Why can't I move?" she exclaimed. Her body felt completely frozen—she couldn’t even twitch a finger.

"Normally, I wouldn't be able to pull this off against someone as strong as you. But if you’re caught off guard, I stand a chance," Yaeger said calmly, summoning another green needle.

At Level 90, that needle wouldn’t have affected Irene at all if she’d been alert.

"What are you going to do?" Irene asked, staring at the long, thick needle in Yaeger’s hand, feeling a chill run down her spine.

She could sense that she would be able to break through the paralysis soon, but Yaeger wasn’t giving her the chance.

"What am I doing? Showing you that I have medical skills," Yaeger replied, stabbing another needle into Irene’s other shoulder.

It didn’t stop there. More green needles appeared, repeatedly stabbing into Irene’s body.

"You’ve been staying up too late, accumulating toxins in your body. You might not have symptoms yet, but it’s bad for you in the long run." Once the acupuncture session was over, Yaeger continued speaking with her usual calmness.

The needles dissolved, absorbed entirely into Irene’s body.

"I can move again?" Irene flexed her fingers in disbelief, testing her regained mobility before her eyes sharpened with realization.

She felt a surge of pure life energy flowing through her body, and everywhere it touched gave her a strange yet comfortable sensation.

Moments later, Irene’s shock grew as she realized the fatigue that had weighed her down over the past few days had completely vanished. She felt refreshed, renewed, and completely energized.

"I feel amazing, like I’m truly myself again!" she exclaimed in excitement.

"I just made a few minor adjustments. Do you believe me now?" Yaeger asked, her tone as calm as ever.

This was nothing extraordinary for her—it was a simple task, hardly worth boasting about.

"You… You really know medical skills…" Irene muttered in disbelief. She still found it hard to grasp, but after experiencing the effects herself, she had no choice but to believe.

Reality was undeniable now.

"Do you believe me now?" Yaeger asked, flicking Irene’s forehead playfully.

"Ow! Why’d you hit me?" Irene yelped.

"That’s for looking at me with those skeptical eyes."

‘So petty. She’s so petty!' Irene sighed internally, realizing just how petty Yaeger could be.

"Anyway, back to business. Like I said, I cured Aurora, but it’s brought her some trouble." Yaeger sat on the bed and motioned for Irene to join her.

Irene obediently sat beside her.

"So, what do you want me to do?" Irene asked.

"A miracle," Yaeger replied simply.

"A miracle?" Irene repeated, confused.

"Yes. I need you to certify that Aurora’s recovery was a divine miracle," Yaeger explained, her tone clear and confident.

"You want me, the Saintess, to fake a miracle?" Irene asked, surprised.

"It’s not really faking. Aurora was practically incurable. Now that she’s better, doesn’t that qualify as a miracle?" Yaeger reasoned.

"I guess that makes sense…" Irene admitted, biting her lip. "But it’s not really a divine miracle."

"Can’t you just frame it that way?" Yaeger pressed.

"I’d still feel bad about it. If the Goddess finds out I used her name for a lie, I might get hit with Divine Punishment." Irene shook her head, uneasy.

"The Goddess you mentioned—can she contact you? Like in a dream or something?" Yaeger asked, smiling.

"No," Irene answered without hesitation.

"Do you think she can hear your prayers, then?" Yaeger continued.

"No," Irene admitted truthfully.

"Then isn’t that fine?" Yaeger said, suddenly wrapping an arm around Irene’s shoulder. "Besides, think about it. Even if the goddess isn’t directly involved, she’s still getting the Power of Faith from the people. It’s a win for her."

Irene blushed as soon as Yaeger pulled her close. She wanted to pull away but ended up staying still.

"What do you mean? The goddess will still get the Power of Faith whether I do this or not," Irene said, her voice betraying her nervousness.

"I know that. But isn’t more always better when it comes to the Power of Faith? Especially nowadays?" Yaeger had heard that gods relied on faith, but whether or not it was true didn’t concern her.

"Fine, I’ll help you this time," Irene agreed, nodding. She wasn’t fully convinced, but she figured that it was ultimately for a good cause.

‘It’s not because she’s hugging me… definitely not!’ Irene tried to reassure herself.

In the commoner’s district, outside Fiat’s home, a crowd had gathered, filling every available space.

"Fiat! I heard Aurora’s been cured. Is it true?"

"Fiat, let me see your sister, Aurora! Is that all right?"

"Fiat, this is Viscount Oula! Come out and greet me!" a nobleman shouted irritably, his patience wearing thin after standing outside for over an hour. He was infuriated that a mere adventurer was making him wait.

Inside the house…

"Brother, what do we do?" Aurora asked anxiously. Her beauty had been restored, but her expression was filled with worry.

Most of the crowd outside had ulterior motives. Some wanted to meet the mysterious doctor who had cured Aurora. Others hoped to have their illnesses treated. Still, others sought to recruit this miracle worker. But in truth, they all had one target: Yaeger.

"We can’t go out right now. Fortunately, we still have enough food at home. I doubt they’ll destroy the house…" Fiat’s words were interrupted by a loud bang. Dust fell from the trembling wooden door.

"Do they even respect the law anymore?" Fiat growled, his fists clenched in anger. His sister had been given a second chance at life by a mysterious benefactor, yet instead of being able to enjoy it, they were being hounded by these people.

Once one person began hammering at the door, others followed, and soon the house itself began to tremble as though it would collapse.

"I’ll go fight them!" Fiat yelled, unable to take it anymore, but Aurora grabbed his sleeve just in time to stop him.

At that moment, the commotion outside suddenly quieted, and a loud, authoritative voice rang out, "Her Highness, the Saintess, has arrived! Everyone, back away!"
