Kana was brought to a small room that only had a greenish pool of water in the center of it. Kana was a bit confused as to what was going to happen, so she could only patiently wait until Li Dong explained things.
"This is a gate to a realm of souls. Where this realm is, I do not know, but it is a place where many souls wander. The trial itself is only about thirty minutes long as the soul pool pulls your soul back after a short time. This pool is actually a heavenly treasure and was something I had acquired by luck while exploring a mystic realm. In order to use it, you must send your soul into the pool. It will then temporally enter the realm of souls. You must be careful as the energy there is strange and can damage your soul. So you must protect your soul. If you are able to pull your soul back without injury before the time is up, then you will have passed the trial and can then begin receiving the inheritance." Li Dong did not think Kana would have any issues with this test. Even he had no problems with it when he tried it himself. But there had been a few who had had their souls severely injured beyond repair. The strangest thing is that once you return from the other side, you will not remember anything except that it was a place with many souls.
"So I just need to send my soul in?" Kana asked to confirm.
"Yes. But do not worry. After thirty minutes, you will return. The soul pool only projects your soul in the realm of souls and does not sever the connection to your body." Li Dong answered. He would never have Kana attempt this trial if there had ever been an issue with the soul pool. He himself had used it many times when he was alive. And so have many others. Only those with weak souls would end up with damage.
Kana nodded and sat down up against the wall. Her soul then stood up out of her body and walked over to the soul pool. She took a deep breath and then stepped inside. A green flash of light engulfed her before her surroundings changed.
When she looked around, she stood in a vast field. The grass was not normal grass but transparent grass that swayed with the wind. "Hmmm… So this is the realm of souls?"
Kana looked off into the distance and saw a majestic mountain far off, and closer to her was a town or city, but it looked too far away to be able to reach in the short time she would be spending here. But seeing the emptiness of the realm of souls, Kana felt a little disappointed in this trial. With her current position, there was nothing worth mentioning, not even a soul bug.
So instead of trying to walk anywhere, Kana sat down and plucked some of the soul grass off to the side and smiled faintly. Twenty minutes passed as she let out a sigh and mumbled: "If only this place was where Angelica became the Ghost Empress."
"That would be good, wouldn't it?" A voice came from behind Kana, causing her to freeze.
Kana knew that voice very well. Even after all these years, she would never forget such a voice. She slowly turned her head, hoping her mind was not playing tricks on her to see a beautiful young woman standing there gently smiling at her. Tears filled Kana's eyes when she saw the young woman. "Baby!"
"Mama…" Angelica looked at her mother, who had changed so much, and began to tear up. She ran over and dived into Kana's embrace, hugging her tightly. "Mama!"
"Angelica!" Kana cried and hugged her baby. She missed her babies so much!
The two embraced and cried in each other's arms. A sudden reunion like this was too sudden. Kana really did not know what to say. It took almost five minutes for them to finally calm down. "Mama, how are you here? You didn't…"
"No, I am not dead. I am stuck on a planet where I am learning something called cultivation. That world has its own laws and suppresses my power except for my soul. I am currently taking a trial and will be pulled back soon. Right… I only have a few minutes left. Angelica, I wasn't supposed to meet you at all until I reached the sea of stars. But I promise. I will make it there. You must wait for your mama. Tell handsome papa and your sisters to wait for me. I will be there. I will rejoin you all as soon as I can."? Kana knew her time was almost up, so she had no choice but to rush what she was saying. She cupped Angelica's cheeks before leaning in and kissing her forehead. She could already feel a tug on her soul. She knew her time was up. "And most importantly, your mama loves you all very, very much."
Angelica had tears in her eyes. She only nodded her head and knew her mama was about to leave. "I love you too Mama…"
Kana smiled and wiped Angelica's tears away. She felt a hard tug on her soul and sighed. "I'm leaving. It was only a short meeting, but It was worth it. Be careful ba…"
Kana's voice faded away after her soul disappeared. Angelica stood there staring at the spot her mother once was, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I will be careful. Nothing will stop me from meeting you again in the sea of stars. Mama, I promise I will grow stronger and? not let you down."
"Where is she!?" Ceilie yelled out as she finally arrived with Nergal attached to her hip. They only heard Angelica scream, 'Mama is here', before she ran off. Angelica was much faster than them, and they could only run as quickly as they could.
"You just missed her. She was taking some kind of trial and was only able to stay for a short time. But it was really here." Angelica had a bright smile on her face.. In one hundred years, this was one of the best days she has had in a long time.
