Chapter 3080: I Need Ten Million!

Ning Shu walked over and stood in front of the tanned girl. She looked at the man, who was holding a dagger, and said, “Do you feel no shame attacking a little girl?”

The tanned girl immediately stood up and hid behind Ning Shu.

The man looked to be in his forties, though his temples were streaked with white hair.

He was probably the oldest person among the participants.

“I, I…” The man’s hand, which held the dagger, trembled slightly. His face was filled with conflict, helplessness, and pain. “She… she can’t leave. If she leaves, the survival game will end.

“Ten million. I need ten million!” The man shouted animatedly. “I don’t intend to kill her. I just wanted to stop her from thinking about escaping.”

Ning Shu rolled her eyes. He was holding a knife, it was obvious that he intended to kill. This was the standard pose for threatening someone with a knife.

“If you had a daughter, she’d be about as old as this tanned girl. And yet, you’re willing to harm such a young child.”

No matter how desperate someone was, illegally taking an innocent person’s life was unforgivable.

Besides, there were no deep grudges between anyone on this island.

Did he really think getting that ten million would be so easy?

That ten million was just bait and an illusory one, at that. He’d never get his hands on it.

Moreover, he had another misconception. He thought that as long as he committed such an act, he would receive ten million.

Ning Shu pulled out a vine as thick as her finger and pointed it at the man. “Get lost. If I see you again, you’ll regret it.”

She whipped the vine against the ground, making the fine sand dance into the air.

The man sighed and said, “You shouldn’t try to escape. You’ll drag everyone down with you. Besides, even if you want to escape, you won’t be able to.

“My daughter is older than her. She’s about your age,” the middle-aged man said to Ning Shu. “I joined this show for my daughter’s dowry.”

Ning Shu: …

“Your daughter needs a ten-million-dollar dowry?” Ning Shu scrutinized the man. From the cut and quality of his clothes, he was clearly not wealthy.

Especially with the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. He looked like an ordinary, hardworking man.

If he were really rich, he wouldn’t need to participate in this show.

The man looked bitter as he explained, “My daughter found a wealthy man. She was probably afraid he’d look down on her, so she told him I was a businessman and that she’d bring ten million as her dowry. She’s getting married soon.”

Ning Shu: …

How could she lie about something like that? Did she really think she could hide her family’s real situation?

She couldn’t keep it a secret forever. Was this girl planning to get married first and have a kid to seal the deal?

How naive.

How insecure must she be to rely on lies to make things work? She didn’t even dare to be her real self when she was entering a marriage.

“You all shouldn’t try to escape. In a month, we’ll be able to leave here. If you rely on this thing, you might lose your lives,” the middle-aged man sighed. He turned and left. His footsteps were uneven as he trudged through the sand.

Ning Shu turned to the tanned girl and said, “Alright, let’s start weaving the boat.”

The girl touched her own face and asked, “Is my skin really that dark?”

“Your skin is a little darker than most,” Ning Shu said while spreading her hands.

Ning Shu and the tanned girl started weaving vines together. “Weave it just like how you’d weave a straw mat. Stack a few together and tie them up, and they’ll be a make-shift raft.”

Ning Shu gave her a thumbs-up and said, “You’re really smart.”

A kid who grew up in a city probably wouldn’t have this kind of ability.

The girl looked a little embarrassed, but since she had tanned skin, her blush didn’t show.

Ning Shu followed her lead. At first, she was slow, but she quickly picked up pace.

The two worked together. They made several woven vine mats and stacked them on top of each other.

Ning Shu found some vines to tie everything together, and the two of them worked together to drag the boat into the water.
