23 Chapter Twenty Three: Leaving
“What happened?”
Most of the students were unwilling to take such an explanation from the both of them and since Tong Yang had no need to direct the driver anymore, she had entered the back with the other students.
“Are you sure you remember the address, this is quite some place.” One of the female students that had accompanied them said while scrunching her nose at the dirty and wet environment.
One had to know that most of them were extremely privileged kids and would usually have no reason to be in place like this normally.
Seeing that her unclear words had the exact reaction she wanted, Tong Yang sighed as she shrugged.
“I’m not sure exactly but that Auntie said some rich guy had helped Rong Yue pack out of their house.”
“Rich guy?”
“Is she being kept?” Another person interjected immediately, their ears working on overdrive.
“I don’t think Rong Yue is like that, even though she doesn’t have money to even survive and I have to loan her some mostly, she has never resorted to that and would always work hard.” She said softly, her voice carrying some hint of hesitation.
.....
“Although, I have to say that, she hasn’t really asked me for money this month, I don’t know how she’s surviving.” Tong Yang added and if the bus wasn’t that quiet, a lot of people would have missed it, but with how everyone was paying attention, it was hard for their mind to not run wild.
She was extremely poor and always needed money, now all of a sudden, she didn’t need money again and even moved out of their shabby house, it was indeed difficult to not think wild with a situation like that.
“Perhaps, she finally found a family member, didn’t you say that it’s just mother and daughter before?” Sun Li, one of the female classmates said as she looked at Tong Yang dubiously.
She was one of those people that couldn’t be deceived by Tong Yang’s act, also, she personally felt like Rong Yue didn’t look like someone that would succumb to something like that making her speak out in her support.
Although Sun Li was not one of the top students, she was from a respectable military family and quite the number of people respected her. Also, she was someone with high moral standards so her words was able to carry some weight.
After she said so, many people stopped speculating aloud, however, not many of them had ditched the idea of Rong Yue being kept, after all, with a face as attractive as that, it was hard for successful men to not come after her.
And so even though they didn’t say it in the bus anymore, with Tong Yang’s arrangement, as soon as they returned to school, several news was spread around and even some news carrying pages also participated in carrying around the news of Rong Yue being a kept woman.
As for the woman that was being talked about, she and her mother had just eaten an early lunch with Qin Yichen who was leaving for the capital and since his cooking was really good, when he had demanded that they ate a food together, she had immediately pushed the responsibility of cooking to the young master.
“Would you be coming back here again?” Rong Xia asked as she packed up some of the dishes that were already empty. One had to admit that as long as it was Qin Yichen’s cooking, Rong Yue’s appetite was really scary.
She had taken close to three servings of all the food he had made without taking a pause.
“Qin Yichen glanced at the young girl that was still engrossed in her meal completely, the corners of his lips raising while a doting look crossed his eyes.
“Hmmm, we don’t have many businesses here and since City A is only just developing, we are planning to make use of that opportunity.”
Rong Xia nodded in understanding.
“When next you come, we would be sure to treat you to a meal also.” She said and then went into the kitchen leaving the two on the table.
“Little girl, I have sent the money for your help over to you, after now, I don’t owe and perhaps, when next you meet me, you would be the one owing me.” He said with a knowing look and Rong Yue finally looked up from her meal.
“Tch, why would I owe you, besides, do you think the debt of life is something that can be easily paid off?” She asked with a huff, dropping her chopping sticks so she could glare at him.
“If in the future, I realize that your life is worth much more than you have paid, then you still owe me some more money.” She argued shamelessly.
She had really suffered in the past life and since she had only asked after meeting him, she had demanded only little.
Now that she was re-evaluating him, considering this house and his aura, she felt like she had really charged him too little.
Qin Yichen chuckled as he looked at her scheming expression.
“You only had that one chance, if you had charged any amount, I would have paid you regardless.” He said, eyes swirling with mirth.
Rong Yue kissed her teeth gently and then went back to her meal.
As he was eating, Rong Xia came from her room.
“I made you this healing salve, you can use it on your wounds so they can heal completely while you are away.” Rong Xia said handing a small bottle over to him.
Qin Yichen collected it and thanked her. He had been reluctant to ask for it, after all, he felt like a recipe that could allow his wounds to start scabbing in three days was something that would be precious to the both of them and thus didn’t want to cross boundaries.
“Thank you.” He said politely as he kept it in his side pocket.
After talking with them for a while more, he went to where Yong Yue was seated still eating.
“Take care, little girl.” He said as he pressed a quick kiss to her forehead, his eyes swirling with unwillingness to leave her alone.
