It hadn’t been more than 24 hours since last night’s summons.
The memory was still fresh in his mind, the middle-aged man in front of him was kneeling in front of him with tears, he was so excited that he could not control himself.
But the current Byron was completely different, with a gentle smile and even had a kind look, Shen Yi could hardly imagine it would appear on his face.
He was dressed like a college professor in the traditional impression of people, with a silver-gray coat, a book, and a coffee cup in his hand, only a pair of glasses missing.
When he first encountered him in the cafe, he was filled with maturity and calmness, and his personality was described as aristocratic.
Byron still had a different kind of feeling, he had the maturity and handsomeness of a middle-aged man, but his temperament was more gentle, yes it was more like that of a normal person.
He almost thought that the other party was not Byron, but his brother, but reason told him this was unlikely.
But one thing was unsure, that was whether Byron’s sudden appearance here was intentional or merely accidental.
Scratching his face, he calmly said. “I’ve gotten a lot better, and it just so happens that someone asked me to meet in the school’s library, so I came.”
Shen Yi looked slightly towards the ground and said with a little uncomfortableness. “Uh, as for who exactly asked me out, teacher, you don’t ask me.”The reason he found it was simple and plain, that was today he had an appointment with a girl.
He really couldn’t think of any other reason that would make a sick young man run over on a stormy day.
An understanding smile appeared on Byron’s face and he nodded. “Yeah, but I think it’s better for people with a fever to stay out on rainy days, especially these current heavy rain… you’re also interested in mystics?”
With a gentle smile, Byron casually pointed toward the bookshelf beside Shen Yi.
Shen Yi nodded and said. “I think mysticism books are very interesting, even though I know it’s fake, but I still want to read it, just like reading a story.”
Byron laughed and took a closer look at The Language of Silence, which Shen Yi had just put down.
“Don’t dwell on the illusory things, you are not serious at all in my math class.”
Shen Yi opened his mouth, wanting to complain about the wizard but he forcibly held it back.
Moving his feet outside, he said. “Teacher, the library will be closed soon, so I’ll go first.”
Byron didn’t stop him, just nodded: “Just a minute, I’ll go with you.”
Shen Yi’s heart wanted to say no very much but still nodded with a smile.
“Okay.”
They walked down the stairs together, the sound of their double footsteps were extremely obvious in the empty and silent library.
Arriving on the first floor, Byron suddenly halted on his steps, turned his face to him, and gently said. “Wait a minute here, I’m going to go put my things down in the active room, just a minute.”
Shen Yi nodded and did say anything.
“Good.”
Leaving his side Byron walked to a closed room on the first floor.
Shen Yi kept staring at that room while thinking frantically in his mind.
Byron’s status in the society was likely to be that of the university’s mathematics teacher, he could be an ordinary lecturer or possibly a professor in service, which he could almost confirm.
The bus that Byron’s assistant got on at that time was the only bus there that could go directly to the Imperial Academy of Beland. She was most likely a student of this school and might have a close relationship with Byron.
That being the case, it was evident why he and his assistants were able to travel in and out of the city with ease.
As an experienced professor at a renowned university, he would naturally have connections with the elite.
Before he could process his thoughts, Byron came out of the activity room.
When he came out of the library’s activity room, the coffee cup and books were gone, replaced by a dark umbrella in his hand.
“Let’s go.” Byron said calmly.
Upon reaching the entrance of the library door, Shen Yi, who was dressed in a full raincoat walked directly into the rain, while Byron held up the black umbrella and opened it while following up.
~Why does he still wear a coat in this weather?
Shen Yi did not dare to open his mouth to ask, in case Arthur had asked this question before, wouldn’t it immediately reveal his identity.
He set his mind to cut down on talking and leave quickly.
Byron’s expression remained unchanged as if he could see his doubts, he explained with a smile. “People and their physiques cannot be generalized, I was just born with a special fear of cold.”
Shen Yi nodded and didn’t say anything more.
He recalled that the book he flipped through in the afternoon had mentioned – “The abnormal state of the transcendent is mostly a consequence of practicing invisible arts and using relics.”
~Are you afraid of the cold because of some rule that costs you?
It was just not clear whether he’s paying a long-term price, a short-term price, a cyclical price, or a constant price.
Shen Yi did not understand the cost mechanism of the Invisible Art and the Mysterious Relic, either. Since he did not feel that he had paid any cost for using the two Mysterious Relics.
In just a short while, the sky turned completely dark.
One thing that Shen Yi was acutely aware of was that they were the only ones on the college main road.
“Arthur, why did you suddenly run to the library at this time?”
Shen Yi was silent for a long time: “I told you the reason because a girl asked me out.”
“Oh.”
Byron still looked ahead and nodded his head lightly, as if he had heard him but as if he didn’t hear his answer.
“Just now, what was the last book you read?”
He had the impression that Byron had been staring at the bookshelf when he put the book down and almost knew what he was reading.
~Here is no way to lie.
He said calmly. “I just read a few mystery novels, and the last one was, well, it seems to be called ‘The Language of Silence,’ and it’s full of sterile stuff.”
“Um.”
Byron just nodded, and did not pry anything further.
With that they silently walked towards the entrance of Beland Imperial College together.
There was a huge artificial lake beside the main road, its surface was rippled by the violent rain.
With each step, Byron’s face grew colder.
The original gentle temperament had changed little by little, as a soft burning of water, just a dozen steps away from the lake, the man’s both aristocratic arrogance and wizard madness had completely come back.
Noticing his changes, Shen Yi first halted in his tracks, knowing that there was no need to conceal his identity anymore.
~Since my disguise has been blown, I have to find a way out fast.
Byron took a few more steps before stopping, and he just happened to maintain a distance of ten steps from Shen Yi.
Perhaps, he thought, this was the best possible distance between both the offense and defense.
Byron turned and stared at “Arthur” not far away, and the two men stared at each other in the dark curtain of rain.
Byron pulled out a piece of paper from his coat, like the ones you could normally see everywhere in school.
“I’ve just checked in the activity room, Arthur’s still at home.”
On this piece of paper, there was a line of black text wriggling like a living worm, as it got wet, it let out a squeaky whine before getting washed away, leaving only blank and wet white paper.
Shen Yi didn’t know exactly what the words on the paper meant, but he had a guess that it was “Where is Arthur?” he didn’t expect that Byron had such an intangible skill that was quite convenient to locate.
“I use a very convenient invisible art, but unfortunately, it can only be used on the completely powerless and more familiar human being, both conditions are qualified but I can’t get one out of it,” Byron says in the limit.
Holding the black umbrella, Byron gently released his other hand, and the damp paper blew away instantly in the violent wind and rain, disappearing into the darkness.
“I already expelled others, and no one will disturb us for the time being.”
His voice could still be heard clearly in the rainstorm as if it was right next to Shen Yi’s ear.
“Answer me two questions …… Who are you? What are you doing here?”
He stretched out his hand that did not hold an umbrella.
With the snap of his finger.
An invisible force swept across the vast artificial lake, sending out huge splashes of water, which did not retreat, instead churning on the water surface against the laws of physics. In the artificial lake, the swirls of turbulent splashes formed a complex pattern, creating a large and bizarre spell in the darkness.
Due to the strong wind, Byron lowered his umbrella and exposed only half of his face.
“You can either answer immediately or choose to wait for the corpse to speak.”
