Chapter 125: UFO

Zhang Zian really didn’t know what to do, as he should have known better how the internet’s free-talk zone could never give him the correct answer.

“I remember that manager was single! Where is the girl from? Your imagination?”

“I remember that the manager is a single dog. The girl is not in your fantasy, is she?”

“Make a girl cry? First you have to have a girl.”

Zhang Zian read through several pages of comments, which all sounded ridiculous; none of them was suggestive!

He was so disappointed with the internet feedback that he threw his cell phone aside and turned around in place, not knowing what to do.

Suddenly, he had an idea and shouted towards the outside of the shop, “Look, a UFO!”

This trick worked its magic!

Lu Yiyun raised her crying red eyes and looked out, “Where’s the UFO?”

Zhang Zian also wanted to cry himself. “A UFO just flew by! My princess, please don’t cry anymore! I almost want to go and hang myself! What happened? Can you tell me exactly why are you crying?”

Lu Yiyun had been crying for a while, her glasses getting blurry, but she felt a lot more relaxed. She was too embarrassed to take off her glasses and wipe her tears. She whispered, “Sorry. I don’t know what happened. I just wanted to cry.”

Suddenly, Zhang Zian wanted to cry, too. The reason left Zhang Zian completely speechless.

He hopelessly pleaded, “Let’s make a deal. Next time, can you drop some hints before you cry? Like, ‘I’m going to take a deep breath,’ or ‘I’m getting frenzied’… even the BOSS in a video game can’t trick people as suddenly as you!”

Lu Yiyun burst out a laugh, shook her head and said, “I will really not cry anymore!

It was an accident,” she stressed.

She didn’t want to tell him the real reason she was crying; after all, it was not a glorious thing.

Zhang Zian stared at her as if he was watching a time bomb, and a nuclear bomb that didn’t show the countdown number which could accidentally knock him into a cinder.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Lu Yiyun noticed that the registration book had been soaked by her tears, and even the handwriting had been blurred. She quickly took out a tissue and tried to wipe it. “What can I do about it?”

“No worries, as long as you don’t cry. ” Zhang Zian did not dare to blame her.

Not only was it the page that had Lu Yiyun’s name, but the other pages that had been soaked. She felt more embarrassed; how could she have cried so hard this time?

“Mr. Manager, I’ll rewrite them.”

“No, I will do it!” Zhang Zian didn’t want her do it in case she cried again.

“No, this is my fault. I have to take care of it,” she said firmly, as if to say, “if you don’t let me do it, I can cry any time!”

“All right, you can do what you want to do.” Zhang Zian was afraid of her.

Lu Yiyun used cutting knife to cut the few wet pages in front of book. Then on the next dry pages, she neatly transcribed the names and contact information of Xiao Yan, Jiang Qianxue, Liu Wenying, Zhao Qi, etc.

The few people before her left a variety of handwriting styles, but Lu Yiyun’s handwriting could beat any of them.

“Have you ever practiced calligraphy?” Zhang Zian looked at her face and asked carefully, “It’s rare to see a person who can write so well in this world of computers.”

As she wrote, she said, “I can paint, and I have practiced calligraphy for a while.”

“Oh, no wonder.” Zhang Zian was relieved. His writing was like a dog climbing, because he never got chance to practice. If he did, maybe he could write as well as her.

She quickly finished, stood up, and handed the book to Zhang Zian. Then she bowed, and said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t usually do that.”

It was another little lie. This wasn’t the first time she’d cried suddenly, but it was the first time she cried because she was praised. Sometimes she wondered whether she had been alone for too long?

But except painting, she has no other skills to make a living. She could go to a restaurant to wash dishes, as she only had high school diploma, but she could not earn more by doing that than if she painted.

Zhang Zian thought he was unlucky and responded, “Well, that’s the way everyone does. Sometimes I suddenly want to cry too.”

He swallowed the last few words – like now.

Lu Yiyun was not good at expressing herself. Zhang Zian did not to blame her, which made her unsure of what to do. Finally, she quietly took out her cell phone, opened her Alipay app, and said, “I will pay.”

“No,” Zhang Zian waved. “I said that I would give you a free membership.”

“No, I should pay,” responded Lu Yiyun.

Zhang Zian asked her to think for his situation. If he didn’t keep his promise, not only would he be despised by Fina, but he would also let Old Time Tea down.

“The rechargeable money is also charged to the membership card. When you come in next time, take your membership card and pay in cash,” he explained.

There were two reasons that he insisted on charging money to become a member. One was to accumulate funds quickly, and the other was to bring customers back. The customers would come back often if they had the money in the card; even Internet cafes knew to advise customers to do memberships. But Lu Yiyun seemed to already be a returning customer, and he didn’t need her 1000 to accumulate the capital. So he didn’t insist upon it.

“Oh,” Lu Yiyun thought for a while, and agreed with his explanation. “Well, I’ll leave now, sir, I’m sorry to bother you.”

After she repeatedly apologized, she left the store. As soon as she was out the door, she almost ran instead of walking normally. She felt so embarrassed, and could not wait to get home and cover herself with her comforter.

Old Time Tea started watching TV again quietly.

Zhang Zian sat back on the couch, drained of energy, and said, “Old Time Tea, you’ve done a very unkind thing. How could you stand by when I was in urgent need of your help? I am okay if Fina didn’t help, as I never expected it to, but you are such a kind cat. Where did your kindness go?”

“Well, well!” Old Time Tea rolled its eyes, trying to find the reason.

“Come on, stop it!” Zhang Zian responded angrily. “I got hurt.”

He picked up his cell phone and looked at the post he had sent, which had gotten so many ridiculous responses.

He updated his post: “Both women and cats are difficult to raise!”

An ID called “Evil Bottle for Ten Years” immediately replied, “Congratulations for finally realizing that women are too troublesome to deal with.”

Zhang Zian re-edited the title of the post.

“The problem was solved. Web host, please close the post.”

Then he dropped his cell phone aside but there was a WeChat message coming.

It was from Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan’s message was: “I forgot to remind you. I got a WeChat ID number for your shop which will be connected to your membership system in the future, but it needs to be updated frequently. Please go to the 58 City and hire a part-time or full-time artist who is good at dealing with pictures; it would be better if he/she has some creativity.”

Zhang Zian responded slowly that he needed a rest as he was so tired from the earlier incident.
