Allevia cursed as she constantly positioned herself behind others as they charged up the mountain. Divine Spells flew everywhere and many of those around her were killed pretty quickly. 'Damn Jor! This isn't a fight we should be involved in!'
She was angry when she realised that they were not really good for anything other than cannon fodder to make the enemies waste their DP in killing them. Her eyes narrowed as she saw another barrage of spells flying her way. She quickly dove behind a boulder large enough to shield her as screams echoed on the mountain.
The surrounding air shimmered with all the motes of light from those who fell. Jarxos was somewhere ahead, shouting for them to keep up and keep moving. She shook her head slowly at his yells. If she continued to go forward, she was sure she would die. But if anyone spotted her hiding, she would likely be kicked out of the Pantheon and left in Elden territory to die anyway.
Once again, she cursed at the situation she found herself in. Right before jumping out of her hiding place and dashing forward to catch up again. She clenched her jaw as her hands trembled. Her shield and spear kept striking against her legs as she ran.
Meanwhile, the mountain suddenly felt as if it were trembling beneath her feet. From higher up the mountain, massive gods made of rock with four arms had begun to charge down to meet them. Her eyes went wide when she counted them. There was more coming towards them than there were human gods behind her. But that was not the worst part. More Elden gods appeared higher up on the mountain!
Those who were ahead of her seemed to hesitate briefly at that sight before letting out loud war cries. Their efforts renewed as they put everything they had into running faster to meet the Eldens sooner. Allevia released a few Divine Spells at the incoming wall on legs, but no damage was done.
When she saw that her Authority, which was her highest stat, could not hurt them, she quickly sprinted to catch Jarxos by the shoulder. Stopping him in his tracks. When he turned to look at her, there was an angry expression on his face.
"What are you doing Allevia! The enemy is almost upon us!" Jarxos yelled while turning red in the face.
"Jarxos! They're beyond our level! I'm sure of it! We'll be wiped out in minutes if we clash with that!" Allevia shouted back while pointing her spear at the Eldens. "We need people from the higher Tiers over here to deal with it!"
Jarxos' eyes narrowed as he glanced from her to the enemies ahead. Then his attention turned to the other teams that had been formed of different Tiers and their positions.
"It seems like that is Lord Jor's plan, Allevia! Look around! We were supposed to draw them to us because we'll be quick to deal with. While Lord Jor is on the other side of this mess! If the Eldens start from our position, then their frontline will have to go through every one of us as they sweep across the mountain to reach Jor!" Jarxos sighed as he glared at her. "Jor must have a plan to launch the attack. The best thing you can do for the Pantheon is fulfilling your role in this battle!"
Jarxos turned after those parting words and sprinted on to meet his troops, who had already begun to clash with the enemy. Allevia stared with her mouth agape at the carnage unfolding. The Eldens were laughing as they crushed the Skardians who had come to meet them. These frontline warriors of the Eldens bore huge shields that required two of their hands to hold while carrying a weapon in each of their two free hands.
It was obvious that any human would be at a disadvantage when fighting them! 'This isn't worth it! Screw this!' Allevia glanced around to find a way out of that situation. She had decided to abandon the Pantheon. After all, was it worth staying in a team that would treat her like she was disposable?
She spared one last glance at those fighting up ahead before sprinting towards her left. Away from the fight and away from the others still coming up from behind. She faintly heard Jarxos yelling from somewhere behind her, but she paid no attention to whatever he was saying.
A determined expression crossed her face as she picked up the pace. A giant boulder stood in her path, but she did not want to go around it. As she neared it, she prepared herself before jumping into the air. A broad smile swept across her face as she cleared the top of it. But it did not last long.
The boulder hid a wide, dark hold that seemed to plummet into the depths of the mountain. But there was nothing she could do to save herself at this point. She let out a long scream as she fell into the pit's cavernous mouth. Her voice echoed off of its walls as she plunged into darkness.
'Is this it? Am I just going to die anyway?' She wondered as the darkness rushed past. Just as she began to lose hope, she saw a flicker of light from somewhere below her. Accompanied by the sound of running water. 'Oh, please let that water be somewhere beneath me!'
She closed her eyes as she waited for either the cold of the water to wash over her or for death to take her. She suddenly gasped as she plunged into freezing waters. It rushed down her throat before she could realise her mistake as she sunk into its depths. She tried to cough it out as she frantically swum towards the surface, where she could see the flickering orange glow from before illuminating which way was up.
'Typical! This is just my rotten luck!' She thought as she broke the surface of the water and gasped for air...
