Al knew that the next easiest target would be Eric.
His cousin had no true formal training with weapons, so he would be the most likely to fumble around a paintball gun.
As Al entered an area of the paintball field that resembled a suburban community, he quickly jumped into a building, using it as a hideout.
Unlike the area where Al had been initially assigned as his starting point, there was much more detail in the buildings here.
You could enter the houses and each home had a unique format, one that the staff also changed around.
Al quickly searched the first house, making sure that no one was camping out in the building. He was silent, making sure not to push down any of the walls and alert those nearby of his presence.
Clearing the first house, Al moved on to another one.
He didn't want to be a sitting duck on the fringe of the suburban area.
He used the houses and cars to block any shots that might come from the other side.
Al weaved between houses, avoiding any chance of being shot from behind.
When he was satisfied that no one was in the immediate surroundings, Al picked out the most unlikely house in the area.
He crouched down and listened.
He knew that despite the size of the paintball field, there was a high possibility of someone coming to this place.
This place would be the most logical to make a stand against and opponent, especially if you were more nimble like Angelica.
There were so many nooks and crannies that Al was sure he would lose if Angelica had been hiding out there.
Luckily, it seemed that his sister had been assigned to a much further area and had not found her way to this one.
Al waited for a few minutes, he began to wonder why no one had found this area yet.
"Emilio, you're out!" The instructor suddenly announced that Emilio was out, Al was caught off guard.
Emilio was a very good marksman. He also was no pushover when it came to the paintball field. It seemed that he just had the bad fortune of encountering Angelica.
The little girl was truly a prodigy, one that he knew would either enter the mafia or military. He just wasn't sure which one their parents were more likely to approve of.
Al continued to wait, he knew that it was only a matter of time till Angelica found this area.
What surprised Al the most was the fact that Eric had not yet been counted out.
It was possible that his cousin had found a really good hiding spot and was yet to be discovered.
Al temporarily considered venturing out and searching for Eric.
Eric would definitely be an easier target over Angelica. The little girl was so fast and so skilled with a gun that even Al hesitated to fight her on equal grounds.
When he was about to make a move and change his plans, he heard someone approaching from the other end of the area.
He knew it wasn't Angelica.
His sister would be much more stealthier, unless it was a trap and she wanted him to check out the sound.
Al was silently hidden, when he heard paintball shots going off.
He couldn't believe his luck. It seemed that Angelica was also in the area and that she would be getting rid of Eric, making the match one against the two of them.
"Damnit!" He heard his younger sister curse from the next building.
She was much closer than he had expected.
"Since when have you been this good, Eric!" Angelica shouted, her voice echoing around the area.
Al knew she was trying to figure out Eric's location by getting him to answer her question.
But Eric seemed to know that Angelica had planned to use sound to determine where his was and chose not to answer.
Not long after Al heard another round of paintball shots being unleashed, this time a little bit further away from him.
It seemed that this time it was Eric shooting at his sister.
Based on what he could hear, Eric was quite conservative with his ammo, something he didn't expect from his cousin.
He'd thought that Eric would simply point and shoot, increasing his chances of hitting his target.
"Fuck." Al heard Eric curse, giving away his location.
Al knew that Angelica would soon be running towards Eric's direction and quickly planting three shots on her mark.
Al heard the sounds of people running through the course, he heard doors banging open and close as they went in and out of houses and cars.
Someone was being pursued and someone was the pursuer.
"Fuck, you're fast cousin!" Angelica hissed, panting as she tried to catch her breath.
They were now probably right outside the building Al was in.
Al heard Eric laughing, it seemed he wasn't tired at all.
That was when three shots were fired, and instead of the result Al had expected, the instructor announced something else.
"Angelica, you're out. Good job making it this far, kid" The instructor chuckled.
It was not what Al had expected.
He knew that Eric had no experience dealing with guns, was Eric so lucky that he could take out Angelica even in her own element?
"One to go, good luck with my brother, you'll need it." Angelica chuckled as she spoke with Eric outside the house Al was huddled at.
"Any chance you could give me a clue as to where Alrdich might be hiding?" Eric asked in a smooth tone as he tried to get his cousin to speak.
Angelica simply laughed, refusing to give him any insight.
"Well, I guess I'm off to hunt Al down." Eric said as he accepted the fact that Angelica was not about to rat out her brother.
Suddenly the alarm in the paintball field began to go off.
Al quickly opened the door and pulled his cousin and sister inside, whatever the emergency was they needed to hide.
