Myth Beyond Heaven

Chapter 2906 - 2906: The Mirror Lake (3)

In the distance, Nie Tong watched Yun Lintian with newfound respect. “He lasted longer against the vortex than any of us would have.”

Qian Jinglei nodded. “The combination of three divine powers… his comprehension is peerless.”

Xiong Yu remained silent, his earlier arrogance replaced by grudging acknowledgment of Yun Lintian’s strength.

Wiping blood from his lips, Yun Lintian closed his eyes in contemplation.

“The three powers weren’t enough,” he murmured. “The vortex consumes all energy thrown against it.”

His mind raced through possibilities. The Seed of Time pulsed in his Divine Core, whispering fragments of insight.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open.

“Not resistance… harmony.”

Standing slowly, Yun Lintian approached the lake once more. This time, his aura shifted—becoming fluid, adaptable.

Without hesitation, he took a step forward onto the lake.

As the shockwave hit, Yun Lintian didn’t block. Instead, he flowed with the distortion, his body undulating like reeds in the wind. The aging effect still wracked his left side, but significantly weakened.

Yun Lintian quickly followed with the second step.

BOOM!

When the deadly geyser erupted, Yun Lintian didn’t dodge. He spun along its edge, letting the force carry him upward before gently descending.

“It works!” Linlin was delighted.

Yun Lintian took a deep breath and took the third step.

The dark whirlpool formed again, but Yun Lintian stood calmly at its center.

“Synchronization.” he uttered calmly.

Silver light erupted from his chest, not fighting the vortex but merging with it. For a terrifying moment, Yun Lintian’s form blurred at the edges, his very existence oscillating between states.

Then—

Harmony.

The vortex stilled, becoming a calm pool of liquid time beneath his feet.

“Third step… complete.”

The lake’s surface rippled in what almost seemed like respect. The path forward now lay open, but Yun Lintian knew the true trial was just beginning.

“Let’s see what you got next.” Yun Lintian said with a faint smile.

Just as Yun Lintian prepared to take the fourth step, the air behind him rippled violently. Three figures materialized from distorted space, their auras pulsing with the weight of ancient power.

The leader, a gaunt man with silver-veined skin, chuckled dryly. “Interesting. Someone actually reached the third step.”

In the distance, Qian Jinglei’s face paled. “The Ghost Blade Triad… Impossible.”

Nie Tong stiffened. “Weren’t they killed during the Heavenly Net Sect’s purge three thousand years ago?”

Xiong Yu’s hand instinctively went to his axe. “How did they appear here?”

Qian Jinglei shook her head. “No one ever found their bodies back then… It seems the rumor is true. They didn’t die.”

Yun Lintian didn’t turn around. His focus remained on the lake, though his spiritual sense locked onto the newcomers.

The tallest of the trio, a woman with hollow eyes that burned with ghostfire, stepped forward. “This lake isn’t for the likes of you, boy.”

Without warning, she struck.

“Ghost Emperor’s Wail!”

A scream that could shatter souls erupted from her mouth. The very air crystallized as the soundwave tore toward Yun Lintian’s unprotected back.

Yun Lintian’s left hand formed a seal while his right remained poised over the lake.

“Echo.”

BOOM!

A thunderclap exploded from his palm, meeting the sonic attack midair. The collision created a visible shockwave that sent the three interlopers stumbling back.

The third member, a hunched figure wrapped in decaying bandages, hissed. “He blocked Sister Mo’s wail without even looking?”

The leader’s eyes narrowed. “Not bad. Let’s see how you handle this.”

The three ancient cultivators didn’t attack Yun Lintian directly. Instead, they grinned maliciously and unleashed bursts of energy toward the lake’s surface, deliberately provoking its defenses.

BOOOOM!

The lake reacted violently. Three massive water columns erupted simultaneously, each carrying enough power to obliterate True Gods. But instead of targeting the intruders, the attacks curved unnaturally toward Yun Lintian.

Yun Lintian’s eyes narrowed as he summoned a series of barriers. The triple-layered defense shook violently as the water columns struck. Cracks spread rapidly across all three barriers.

CRACK! BOOM!

The outermost storm shield shattered first, then the golden dome. The earthen barrier held just long enough for Yun Lintian to leap aside—but not unscathed. Blood dripped from his nose as the backlash rattled his organs.

The gaunt leader laughed heartily. “Hah! Let’s see how long you last!”

Now seeing an opening, the trio changed tactics. They shot forward simultaneously, unleashing direct attacks

The woman’s ghostfire claws aimed for Yun Lintian’s throat.

The bandaged one’s poisoned needles targeted his pressure points.

The leader’s twin black blades slashed toward his legs.

“Die!”

At this moment, Yue Zhihe acted. She dashed forward, her sword gleaming as she intercepted the bandaged attacker’s needles.

CLANG! CLANG!

She blocked two before the third grazed her shoulder. Instantly, her arm turned black as the poison spread.

“Ah!” She collapsed, her body convulsing.

“Heh. Court death.” The bandaged man sneered as he looked down at Yue Zhihe.

In the distance, Qian Jinglei stepped forward, her sword flashing. “We must help—”

Nie Tong grabbed her arm. “Wait! Let’s observe first!”

Xiong Yu stared at Yun Lintian attentively as he wanted to see how he was going to handle this.

Seeing this scene, Yun Lintian’s eyes turned cold.

Buzz—

All of a sudden, a terrifying pressure suddenly blanketed the entire area. The very air turned heavy as Yun Lintian’s aura exploded outward.

The Heaven Sunderer materialized in his hand—the massive greatsword thrumming with primordial energy. With a single horizontal slash—

“Rending Heaven.”

Rip—

A crescent of crimson energy tore through space, forcing all three attackers to retreat hastily. But Yun Lintian wasn’t done.

To everyone’s shock, he leaped out of the lake, abandoning his hard-won position.

“You wanted my attention?” Yun Lintian’s voice turned deathly calm. “You have it.”

The trio’s smiles vanished as Yun Lintian blurred toward them, the Heaven Sunderer leaving afterimages in its wake.

Puff!

The bandaged one raised his arms in defense, only for the greatsword to cleave through them like paper before biting deep into his chest.

“Gah—!” He flew backward, his torso nearly split in two.

Yun Lintian didn’t stop at that. He swung the greatsword towards the woman in the next split second.

“How dare you?!”

The woman’s ghostfire claws met the Heaven Sunderer’s flat in a shower of sparks.

BOOOOM!

The impact shattered every bone in her arms before the follow-up kick caved in her ribs.

“AH!” she screamed painfully as she was sent flying.

“Now, it’s your turn.” Yun Lintian turned to look at the leader.

Then—

The Heaven Sunderer in his hand blurred.

“Don’t be arrogant!” The leader shouted and crossed his black blades defensively.

BOOOM!
