Chapter 1421: Collapse

Collapse

Due to the large scale and nature of the building, the fire alarm blared loudly, so loud that even those in the neighboring buildings could hear the piercing wail echoing through the streets.

People moved quickly, panic settling in as memories of the previous attack by the PPIEX group resurfaced, an incident where the entire area had nearly been engulfed in flames. No one wanted to relive that horror.

It wasn’t just those outside who reacted. Everyone inside the building began to evacuate, their footsteps a chorus of chaos.

“You think this is going to help you?” Luzen muttered, holding his head in discomfort.

His words didn’t match his behavior. The constant blaring of the alarm was clearly affecting him. As a werewolf, Luzen had always relied heavily on his heightened senses to track his enemies. But the overwhelming sound dulled those senses, leaving him operating at the level of an ordinary human.

Still, Luzen wasn’t new to his abilities. He wasn’t some freshly turned pup. He could control himself well enough, but not to his usual standard. His precision was off.

The two of them locked eyes for a moment.

Then, Innu burst to the side, sprinting without hesitation. Luzen followed instantly, leaping toward him to strike.

A slash of Luzen’s claw grazed by, but Innu quickly retaliated. He swung his axe with force, missing just barely. Without missing a beat, he twisted his body and tried again, only for Luzen to duck under the second strike.

Luzen came down with a powerful overhead attack. Innu raised both axes above his head to block it, his muscles straining under the pressure. Then, using the momentum, he lifted his leg for a kick. Surprisingly, Luzen mirrored the move, their legs colliding mid-air.

But something felt different, Innu wasn’t trying to deal damage. He was using the contact as a springboard, launching himself backward through the air and landing in the far corner of the room.

Now, standing still and silent, Innu held only one axe.

He gripped it tightly, his body tense, his eyes focused.

He wasn’t flustered, wasn’t rushing forward like before. He seemed composed, calm, deliberate.

‘Something’s different about the kid,’ Luzen thought. ‘He’s not panicking like earlier. He’s not even speaking. It’s like he’s putting everything into this fight now… he’s completely focused. Is it confidence? He’s fighting better.’

Luzen wasn’t going to take any chances. With a growl, he shifted into a partial transformation and fired a barrage of spirit arrows toward Innu.

But Innu remembered his training, his days as an Altered hunter. Back then, they had drilled it into him: humans were the weakest among the predators. They had no natural advantages, so they had to fight smarter, harder, with everything they had.

Rather than waste time trying to block all the invisible arrows, Innu darted to the side, ducking behind pillars. Arrows tore into the concrete, but Innu stayed just ahead of them.

He broke into a full sprint, circling the office, but not directly toward Luzen.

Luzen narrowed his eyes. Something about Innu’s behavior felt off.

‘Is he retreating? Already out of energy? He has to know he can’t outrun me!’

As Luzen prepared his next volley of arrows, Innu did something unexpected. He slammed his axe into the floor beneath him, shattering the concrete and dropping down to the level below.

He didn’t just avoid the attack, he had moved to a completely new floor, inside a different section of the building. This office had different furniture, different cover.

Luzen approached the hole, cautious. Before he could jump, a barrage of debris was launched upward. Desks, chairs, splinters of wood, it all came flying at him. He deflected most of it with ease, but the unpredictability made him nervous.

Was Innu hiding below, waiting to ambush him?

When Luzen finally jumped down, his eyes widened in surprise. The floor was a wreck. Innu had already moved again, smashing through yet another level, leaving a trail of destruction behind.

Again and again, Innu continued this pattern, smashing the floor, dropping down, and vanishing to the next level below.

‘This idiot is just running away and wasting energy! He’s not even trying to fight me!’

Eventually, Luzen landed on what looked like the bottom floor, no longer in an office building, but inside what appeared to be an old apartment block. The decor had changed, and the rooms were smaller and more confined.

Innu stood at the center of the living room, both axes now in hand. His chest rose and fell with slow, steady breaths.

“So,” Luzen said, letting out a growl as his full Werewolf form emerged. Muscles expanded, claws sharpened, and fur covered his limbs. “You’ve finally stopped running. But after all that effort, you must be out of energy. What could you possibly hope to do now?”

Innu stared at him with steel in his eyes.

“I still have energy left,” he said. “But you’re right about one thing… I won’t have any left after this.”

Lifting both axes into the air, he poured his remaining Qi into them. His body glowed faintly with the power building within. Then, he launched himself upward and came crashing down with all his strength.

With the help of his telekinesis, the force of the strike was immense. His axes smashed into the floor, right into the center of the kitchen, obliterating everything in a deafening explosion of debris and light.

Outside the apartment building, a large crack split up the side of the structure. The foundations groaned under the strain.

And then, with a thunderous roar…

The entire building began to collapse.

The floor beneath them cracked, broke apart, and the tower, piece by piece, began to crumble in on itself.
