Chapter 77: The Uninvited Guest (1)

Facing an army of ugly and scary women left me dumbfounded and felt a bit scared, unable to react on time. What should I do? It was not like I knew any skill to protect myself from them. It was not like I could fight them like I fought human.

Even though I could pull them out from any possessed people, it didn’t mean that I could touch them like I touched human flesh.

I didn’t know how I dragged them out, but somehow they couldn’t break free from my grasp.

But, the same didn’t apply to Tom.

I couldn’t touch him at all.

Well, probably it has something to do with him not being an ordinary ghost.

So, what should I do now?

.....

In the middle of my confusion and slightly panic state, I saw two shadows flashed in front of me and shielded me from the attack.

“Back off!”

Two different voices shouted in unison. Before it dawned to me, a gust of wind blew towards those Kuntis and another shrill cries was heard. As I looked up after tidying up my messy hair, I saw them flying away in hurry, scattering in all directions. In a moment, the roof which was covered by them before, now was back to the previous state. I could no longer see any of them floating, standing, sitting on the roof like a minute ago.

Standing in front of me was two men who were the cause of the frightened Kuntis. They were still facing the building, with their back facing me. I didn’t know what kind of expression they had on their face right at this moment, but I noticed their aura changed.

But what made me stunned mostly was the change in Tom’s transparent body.

For a second, I thought I saw wrongly.

For a second, I thought it was someone else who was standing in front of me.

For a second, I swore I saw his body solidified, not the transparent one anymore.

My head went blank as I kept staring at his back. Even after he turned around to face me, I was still dumbly looking at him. My only purpose in mind was to find any part of his body which had solidified, to prove that I was not mistaken.

But, all I could see was his transparent body with his handsome face, looking at me in worry.

“Jane!”

Somebody shook my body hard, successfully snapped me back to my senses. As I turned my head towards the one who shook me, another manly face filled my sight. In his clear eyes, there was no trace of worry, only confused. I could understand if he were worried about me, but why was he confused?

“What did you do? Why did they turn aggressive so suddenly? It was not normal.”

He sounded confused, indeed.

“Are you okay?” Before I could answer, another question was thrown to me, but it was from Tom who was eyeing me with worry.

Warmth filled my heart seeing he was so concerned about me, unlike someone who could only care about the reason behind the attack.

“First, I am fine. Second, how would I know they would turn aggressive? I only recognized one of them and accidentally called her. I had no idea they would attack me like that. Third, thank you for saving me.” I answered both of their questions in one go.

I was not upset at Sanji’s lack of concern, and I was not trying to defend myself. I was not some troublemakers. But, I felt I needed to make myself clear on what happened moments ago that made them attack me.

Thinking back to how it happened, I did realize something was amiss.

I watched the roof where those Kuntis were gathering at before. It was as empty as I usually saw. There was no trace of any one of them, which made me questioned our previous assumption.

Was there really someone inside who was pregnant?

I was not trying to put my nose into other people’s business, so I was not going to try to find out who the pregnant girl was. However, as the only person on the second floor which had the view of the roof of the whole dormitory, I didn’t think it would be a good idea to have a group of Kuntilanak as my everyday scenery.

Not to mention their noisy laughs and weeps.

Who knows maybe some of them would get lost and ended up in my room.

That was the last thing I wanted to happen.

I was considering the worst option that might happen to me when my eyes caught sight of a suspicious shadow lurking in the dark from the roof towards my room.

Bad premonition rose inside my heart.

Ignoring the two men, I ran inside and went straight to the second floor, into my room.

I had just stepped on the last stairs when I saw my visitor this time.

It never crossed my mind that I would meet her again.
