Sasha opened the door and noticed that Kevin was still awake, so she revealed her reason for seeking him out, "They're back."
Kevin's eyes widened in surprise. Although he had expected them to return that afternoon, when they didn't, Kevin simply assumed that they would not be returning home today.
But now that they were back, a smile bloomed on his face and he stood up to meet Sasha who was currently dressed in a maid outfit that belonged to Dahlia.
Kevin placed a hand on her cheek and caressed it a little before asking. "Where's the mask?"
She dipped her hand into one of her pockets and pulled out the mask. She then stared at the plain black mask as though she was reluctant to carry out the purpose of the mask.
'Doing this might not be as easy as I thought after all,' Sasha nervously thought to herself.
'It will certainly be weird talking to my sister without her knowing that she is actually talking to me,' Sasha was having second thoughts about whether she could handle the pressure of talking to her sister while pretending to be someone else without instinctively addressing Vanessa as her big sister.
She knew that if she slipped up, the plan would fail and everything everyone had worked hard for would all be in vain.
'But I have to do this, I want to....,' Sasha thought, trying to remind herself about how important it was for her to succeed. However, she suddenly felt a hand land on her shoulder.
She slowly lifted her head and noticed Kevin smiling at her while his hand reached for her cheek and caressed it.
'You can do this.'
Kevin didn't utter those words out loud, but when Sasha heard the words in her mind, it was the loudest and most comforting voice she had ever heard Kevin use and it genuinely moved her heart.
Her grip on the mask tightened and she nodded in response. She took in a huge chunk of air before finally exhaling and putting on the mask.
Right after she did, her appearance slowly changed into that of Dahlia and she raised her head to meet Kevin's smile, and he asked in return, "Are you ready?"
"Yes," Sasha nodded in response.
"Good, let's go."
Dahlia and Kevin walked down the stairs to welcome Drake and Vanessa home, but for everything to go according to their plan, Sasha had to be the only one to welcome them in.
*Ding* *Dong* The doorbell rang and Sasha instantly arrived at the front to open it.
The moment she opened the door, her eyes immediately fell on her sister, and Sasha instantly curtsied exactly the way Dahlia always did.
"Welcome back mis–" Sasha began, but Vanessa cut her off her mid-sentence with a question.
"Is he back?" She asked and Sasha instantly understood who she was talking about.
Sasha nodded at Drake and Vanessa who were anticipating her reply. "Yes, he is around, but he is currently asleep in the living room," Sasha closed the door after they both stepped in, before locking it right behind them.
Vanessa nodded in understanding, meanwhile, Drake wasn't really in the mood to say anything to anyone right now, so he simply went straight to the living room but he found Kevin asleep on the sofa. So, instead, he went straight to bed.
"We won't be eating anything tonight," Vanessa informed Sasha before instructing her to wake Kevin to go up to his bed.
Sasha nodded in understanding and watched her sister walk towards her bedroom before closing the door shut.
'I can't believe she didn't recognize me,' Sasha thought with wonder before waking Kevin up as Vanessa instructed.
___
A few hours later, Vanessa woke up from her sleep with a headache. She was also feeling parched so she left the room and headed straight to the kitchen to grab a cup of water.
She had been feeling a bit gloomy for the past few days, but now, she was glad that she had made significant progress and she couldn't wait for the sun to rise tomorrow.
For the past few days now, things hadn't been going well between her and Drake. She noticed that Drake had been acting strange towards her, but whenever she tried to bring it up in their conversation, Drake would immediately change the topic or ignore it.
But while they were returning home in the evening, she summoned the courage to ask him what was going on, and although Drake didn't specifically tell her about what he was having problems with, still he acknowledged that something wasn't right with him.
In the end, they talked it out and they concluded that Drake would have to talk to a psychologist the next day.
This meant that she would have to accompany Drake to find a good psychologist starting from tomorrow morning.
'I have to return to bed,' With a satisfied sigh, Vanessa returned the cup she used to drink water and walked back to her room.
But while she was trying to return to her room, she heard some strange noises coming from upstairs.
'What's making that noise?'
'Did Kevin bring a cat into the house?' She wondered before walking towards the staircase to confirm what exactly was going on.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, her eyes fell on the soft, glowing light that seeped out from under Kevin's room's door.
'Is he awake?' She wondered.
'But the sound is coming directly from his room,' she thought as she walked closer to Kevin's room to confirm her suspicion.
But as she walked closer, she could already guess what was going on in Kevin's room.
'Is he really having...?' Vanessa couldn't believe that Kevin already had a girlfriend.
He had seemed so shy and timid in things related to girls when they had spoken the first time they met. But she wasn't really close enough to Kevin to know a lot about him, so maybe Kevin recently got himself a girlfriend?
She came to a conclusion.
'I'm glad to see that he has a girlfriend,' Vanessa smiled.
She was currently a few inches away from the door, so she couldn't see who Kevin was humping.
'I hope she stays till tomorrow morning so that I'll be introduced to his girlfriend.'
'I might have to wake up really early tomorrow morning just in case Kevin isn't in the mood to let her stay in the house the next morning.'
