326 Let Them Struggle
"What!? Monsters!? Everyone, take out your weapons and get ready for the fight!" Another hunter drew his sword from the scabbard and yelled.
As the man let out a cry observing a large group of monsters obstructing their path a few meters away masking their existence within the dense fog, all the carriages instantly stopped as the roar resounded across the mountain range.
"Monsters!? Hurry up everyone bring out your weapons there is a large group of monsters blocking our path!" Another hunter shouted as he got out of the carriage holding a longsword in his hand.
"Everyone, protect the children and the women! Don't let the monsters approach them!"
"I can't believe we're getting attacked by a large group of monsters now...I didn't even notice their presence until I heard the shout."
"Me too, I also didn't sense anything unusual until now."
"Perhaps they're able to hide their presence due to the dense fog covering the entire mountain, it's even giving us quite a lot of trouble navigating the road."
"I see...no wonder we're not able to sense their presence until now."
"This dense fog is indeed very troublesome, and also dangerous."
Every hunter present emerged from their carriages, wielding their weapon, as did the mages, each brandishing their magic wand.
Everyone had a concerned expression on their faces, as they had not expected the monsters to suddenly block their route; after all, they were traveling in big numbers, and monsters only target small groups; they never attack large groups of humans.
Dennis looked at Russel with a smirk and said, "My friend, it seems that we've to join the force as well to eliminate those monsters."
"Agreed. The number of Monsters is quite huge, those few hunters won't be able to eliminate them without our help." Russel nodded and said with a smile before retrieving his weapon from his magic pouch that was hanging on his waist.
"Indeed." Dennis nodded, looked at his teammates, and shouted, "Get ready! We'll be fighting alongside them."
"Oh, Hell Yeah!"
Dennis' colleagues shouted in delight as they retrieved their weapons and raised them to the sky, a large smile on their faces.
"My blood is boiling in excitement just thinking about exchanging blows with a powerful monster!"
"Same here, I'm pumped up to fight those monsters!"
Russel had a strange smile on his face as he saw Dennis's colleagues' eagerness to fight the monsters, as he suspected that some of them were truly obsessed with battling.
He shook his head and turned to face his own companions, saying, "Get ready, we'll be joining the fun as well."
"Yes, Boss!" His teammates immediately nodded and took their weapons from their own magic pouches.
Russel then looked at Yuan's very large and tall carriage with a weird expression on his face, wondering inwardly, 'What are they doing inside? Are they unaware that the monsters are obstructing our route and have virtually surrounded us as we speak?'
'Are they not going to combat the monsters? If they join in, we will be able to fight all of the monsters with no losses.' He pondered with a bewildered expression on his face, his eyes fixated on the carriage.
'Whatever... Whether they join the fight or not it doesn't concern me, I better mind my own business...' Russel pondered and let out a long sigh, as he didn't want to provoke a monster like Yuan.
Provoking Yuan means only one thing—death! He was there when Yuan mercilessly burned Henrik's genitals in front of his father, the strongest Count of the Kingdom. And later he also tortured the count as well in front of his citizens, in his own territory.
By all means, Russel wishes to avoid any contact with Yuan and his wives. Although he befriended Dennis he was still wary of him as he previously observed him lusting over Yuan's women, and he doesn't want to lose his life simply because of some random person he befriended.
Dennis spotted Russel peering at the carriage in front of them with a thoughtful expression and asked, "Russel, what are you looking at? Let's go and join the battle; we can't let the monster kill anyone."
"U-Uh...Yeah, alright." Russel immediately coke out of his daze after hearing Dennis's voice. "Let's go and join the others."
"Yeah! Let's kill as many monsters as possible!"
Both Dennis and Russel's party members shouted in excitement before moving towards the front where the monsters had appeared.
A minute later, they arrived at the front where most of the hunters had gathered to fight against the large group of monsters ahead.
Once they arrived there, their expression froze at the sight of the large group of monsters blocking the path.
More than three thousand monsters are blocking the road, and there are numerous kinds of monsters, from low-level monsters to high-ranking ones.
All the monsters were glaring at the group of travelers with their fierce gaze, their eyes glowing bloody red as though they all went berserk for some reason.
"W-What the hell is going on!? How can such a large army of monsters appear here!?" Russel mumbled in a dazed voice as he began to sweat profoundly, seemingly in disbelief.
"H-Ho-How the hell are we going to fight such a massive army of powerful monsters? We are all going to perish here today." Dennis mumbled in a shaky voice, fearing that he and his companions would perish here today.
'Damn it! Is my luck truly so awful that we ended up in such a risky situation? 'Fuck my luck!' Dennis cried inwardly.
Dennis's expression, as well as his colleagues, changed dramatically, as they sweated profusely and trembled in horror at the sight of the enormous group of monsters ahead.
Roaaaarrrrrrr!!!
Roaaaaarrrrrrrrrr!!!
The vicious beasts begin roaring violently at everyone, their eyes exuding a powerful killing intent, and their bodies surrounded by a sinister aura that sends a shudder down everyone's spine.
"What a powerful murderous intent... These beasts are extremely powerful and bloodthirsty... I am wondering if we will be able to win this war or not." Said an A-rank Hunter at the front holding a longsword, and his brow was sweating a lot.
Everyone at the front fell silent after hearing the A-rank hunter's words; if even an A-rank hunter lacks the confidence to win this battle, who are they to dream of winning it? They're merely a bunch of low-level hunters, and the strongest of them all is a few B-rank hunter parties.
Meanwhile, inside the carriage, Yuan was hugging his mother and Emma's waist as he made them sit on his lap, he would kiss their necks from time to time as they passed their time.
"Darling, please, let me go. It's embarrassing...!" Anna Grace whispered in a low voice, her cheeks flushing, feeling very embarrassed in front of Leah.
"Why? Isn't this quite comfortable? Aren't you two not enjoying my touch?" Yuan asked with a teasing smile on his face.
"W-We're enjoying this comfortable sensation but it's too embarrassing!" Emma said in a low voice and buried her face in his chest.
At this moment, Lily left her seat, and entered the carriage, and seeing her brother flirting with her mother had Emma, her face twisted in annoyance.
'There is a large group of monsters blocking the road ahead, and here my brother is flirting inside the carriage... And why is it mom every damn time? Why not me?!' Lily cried inwardly, seemingly frustrated.
However, since the situation was not in her favor, she maintained her composure and said, "Little Yuan, are we not going to do something about the monsters outside? There are a lot of them and those weaklings won't be able to hold them back."
Yuan stopped kissing his mother's neck after hearing Lily's words and looked at her with a smile. No one except for Anna Grace and Xi Meili knows what Yuan was thinking at this moment.
"Why, of course, I'm going to deal with those monsters for daring to impede our route. However, I'd want to watch how those weaklings hold the monsters back." Yuan remarked with a small smile on his lips, and then he made his mother and Emma get up from his lap.
"So, darling are you trying to show off your prowess at the last minute of those weaklings' struggle?" After getting up from her son's lap, Anna Grace asked with a knowing smile on her face.
"Wouldn't that be quite fun?"
"Of course, it would be quite fun to see them struggling to hold back those bunch of low-level monsters." Anna Grace nodded with a wide grin on her face.
Seeing the wide grin on her mother-in-law's face, Emma shook her head and thought, 'As expected of Mother-in-law Grace, she is quite a cold and bloodthirsty woman.'
'Who is this in front of me? Where did the kind Miss Anna Grace go? That vicious grin, it can't belong to Miss Anna Grace at all...' Leah stared at Anna Grace with a dumbfounded expression on her face, seemingly in disbelief.
'I don't believe that this is the same Miss Anna Grace I know, it must be someone else impersonating her... that must be it.' She thought to herself inwardly, she had a feeling that the one in front of her was a totally different person and not Miss Anna Grace.
Meanwhile, on the outside, the monsters start moving forward, the atmosphere is filled with the horrifying howling of the ferocious monsters, and the ordinary people are trembling in fear inside the carriages and praying to the gods to protect them.
Outside the carriage, the hunters, mages, and warriors formed a battle formation to defend the people against the advancing group of ferocious monsters.
"They are coming! "The monsters are coming!" As the monsters advanced, one of the hunters shouted in panic.
"Everyone! They're coming, stand still and prepare yourself for the worst!" The A-rank hunter shouted as he stood solid, waiting for the monsters to approach.
