Chapter 396: Yu Jing's Desperation
Carrying Lilith on my back, Yu Jing appeared somewhat agitated for some reason.
"When is she going to wake up?" asked the Princess, glaring at me like it was my fault. "It's already been a week."
"Hell, should I know? I'm not a doctor... wait, I am but still! Her body and mind were exhausted, It could take years, or she could wake up at any second. "I explained in a soft tone, "Why the rush?"
"What would you know? You are only a First Star, World King. There are hundreds of things going on that you cannot even begin to understand." Said Yu Jing, staring dead at my wife resting peacefully.
Noticing the trace of fear within her heart, I felt a little conflicted for a bit. She was my savior, but I did want to toy with her. Yu Jing, from what I could see, was quite ambitious. The way she spoke, walked and stood all screamed royalty, yet she did not truly care for it from what I could see. It was as if power was all she wanted.
Throughout this weak, all she did was cultivator till she turned pale from too much qi within her system. She was definitely under tremendous pressure.
"How about a little trade, I give you some hints about the Laws of Darkness, and in return, you tell me about yourself?"
"You are but a World King. Do you truly think your understanding of darkness is greater than mine?" Yu Jing contemptibly replied.
"Are you at the ninth tier of Dao? I am one of Tenebrae's children, so believe me when I say darkness is my friend, unlike you, who seemed to be out of the loop. What are you, a tier seven. no, ill say your a six-tier bordering seventh." I coldly analyzed, studying the way the darkness shimmered over her body.
Pausing her footsteps in disbelief, I lifted my lips as a trace of inferiority seemed to skim just at the tip of her heart. Sending a glance towards the knights following their dear Princess, Yu Jing raised her hand, "head back down, we—"
"Meet us in the Holy City; there is a nexus gate somewhere within this mountain," I said for the first time, looking up at the endless stairs within the mountain that led upwards.
The airflow within here was old, as one could taste the dust and moss that had begun to grow from this ancient mountain. It would seem the last time this entrance was used or cleaned was hundreds if not thousands of years ago.
"Unacceptable," Li Su, the young knight around World God with long blonde hair and white armor, valiantly claimed, "I was given a mission by the Holy Swords to protect her ladyship, and I will be damn sure to follow. It to the end."
"I shall be fine, head down," Yu Jing commanded, "You are not needed anymore. Meet me in—"
"Forgive my rudeness, your Grace. But it is not up to you." Li Su swiftly said, lowering his head as not to gaze upon Yu Jing, "We were given an order by your Mother to protect you. No matter what. And here you are, standing next to a mysterious danger. The others may leave, but I shall not!"
Clapping my arms at the impressive fool I had the urge to feast upon, Yu Jing's face began to tremble with radiance. It was a golden qi that appeared to be corrupted by traces of darkness.
What the hell is that? Darkness and... Chaos? No, it feels a little evil, almost like destruction, but not so much. That is definitely a mortal Dao!
"Fine," Yu Jing said in a strained tone, "But keep your distance."
"And just as we lost two, we gained another two." I slightly complained, "Anyway, what say you, Princess? Ready to spill some of those secrets for power?" I bribed, raising my hands with a devilish glint within my eyes.
Staring me in the eye, Yu Jing shook my hand without a hint of hesitation, "You go first," She voiced, before turning to Li Su, "And you can screw off a distance away."
"Quite a brutal princess, huh? But OK, I'll go first. Let's see. Your darkness revolves around the withering aspects of draining your enemy's life force, correct?"
Somewhat taken back, I could only lift my lips as the inferiority within her began growing by the second. Yu jing nodded towards me in conformation, as I continued, "then what I suggest you do is, stop looking at darkness as a tool of death.
"The withering or decay is more of a side effect of darkness pushing away other laws, such as life, that holds light within—ever heard of the spark of life? There is a reason such a saying exists. Each law is connected in some way or another one just needs to look outside the box.
Witnessing the Divine Laws of Darkness spring around the Princess like moths to a flame, I held her in my sights as her comprehension of Dao spiked into the seven tiers of Dao comprehension.
"Congrats," I swiftly complimented, "Now tell me, who is your master?"
"One of the founders of the Court of Nox, Aiza."
Widening her eyes at what she just said, I nodded at the strange turn.
"Now, that is impressive. A founder of the most powerful organization in the Bed of Chaos, yet why would she send you here on Alos? I am sure Nox has great cultivation facilities."
Not receiving an answer, I could only chuckle at her ashen expression, "I—It was a slip of the tongue forget I said anything."
"But of course, I would not want to have my head taken," I explained, understanding that Yu Jing actually believed she had misspoken. "Shall we continue? I am sure darkness is not your only Dao."
"No, I think it's fine for now. I must meditate over what you just said. There is much I need to go over." Princess Yu diligently said, closing her eyes.
Walking ahead, I took a look back at the Princess, walking and meditating simultaneously. A strange and dangerous action to perform out in the open.
So Aiza is a founder, but why is her disciple so desperate for power? It's pretty strange if you ask me, but it's my way into her heart. I will find out everything about you and your master. Not everyone in the court of Nox is an enemy. Let's hope you aren't, my dear Princess.
