After searching for a day, Jiang Fei and 0541 could not find anything more important in their search. After spending a little more time, Jiang Fei decided to call it a day and return to China.
Even though he had failed to find enough flesh to revive both Isabella and Ariel, Jiang Fei had basically called it a success. The only problem left was power.
“Captain, please wait. I have detected an abnormality!” cried 0541 when Jiang Fei was pulling the Giant Sword hoverboard.
“Did you find something?” said Jiang Fei.
“Captain, can you make your way to the apple trees at the other side of this hill? I would like to scan that area thoroughly,” said 0541.
“Alright.”
Jiang Fei hopped onto the hoverboard and flew towards the apple trees.
“A little lower,” said 0541 when Jiang Fei was hovering over the trees. If he had flown a little further, he would have reached another large mountain which was an inactive volcano.
“Captain, please remain here while I scan this area,” said 0541.
“Might as well,” said Jiang Fei as he got off the sword and walked around for a little.
20 minutes later, 0541 came back with a report.
“Captain, you would not guess what I have found!”
“Hoho! Is it the Main Engine room for Braveheart?!” cried Jiang Fei, excited. If it was, it would solve almost all of Jiang Fei current problems.
“No... not that. I’m sorry to fail your expectations...” said 0541.
“I have found the guardian beast of Japan! It is heavily injured!” said 0541.
“What the f*ck?”
If 0541 did not add the heavily injured part, Jiang Fei would have escaped the area. It was a Level 5 beast! A dangerous beast that could be the death of Jiang Fei!
“Captain, do not fear. It is currently in deep sleep due to its injuries and if we are careful enough, there would not be any danger,” said 0541 as it sensed that Jiang Fei was about to run away.
“How good is that?” said Jiang Fei. An injured Level 5 Alien Beast was still a powerful Level 5 Alien Beast.
“Captain, just follow my directions and you’ll understand,” said 0541 as it projected an image of the location.
“Fine,” said Jiang Fei. 0541 would never lead Jiang Fei into a dangerous situation.
Jiang Fei was led to the mouth of the volcano. Since the volcano was supposed to be dormant, the exposed mouth of the volcano was covered in a thick layer of hardened rocks. However, there was one opening that looked like it was dug through recently. Fumes could be seen puffing out of that opening. It seems that the Level 5 Alien Beast had escaped to this area as a means to hide and recuperate.
“This beast is kinda smart. It knew that the most dangerous place for humans to visit would be the safest place to hide!”
No one would have suspected that the beast would be hiding in such a place even though it was not very far from where the battle of Japan had taken place.
“Sheesh! It’s getting hotter by the second!” cried Jiang Fei as he entered the cavity. The smell of sulfur got stronger and stronger as he made his way into the hole.
“The heat generated by the lava is essential for the beast to heal. It is using the geothermal heat as a source of energy to recover,” said 0541.
Jiang Fei was wondering why the beast would choose a volcano to hide. That was why 0541 explained the reason. Since it was a volcano, albeit being a dormant one, the distance between the surface of the earth and molten lava was not too deep. Hence, the beast did not need to dig too far to reach the depth it needed.
“Geothermal? Could we use that as a source of power?” Jiang Fei asked. If the beast could use it as a source of energy, 0541 should be able to do so as well.
“Technically speaking, I am able to but the efficiency of converting heat energy into pure energy is extremely low as I lack the necessary equipment and tools. Given enough time I will be able to gather as much energy as I need. The thing is, time is currently not a luxury for either of us,” said 0541.
“Oh well... At least I tried,” said Jiang Fei as he thought that he had found a goldmine for energy. The beast could spend several human lifetimes to rest in the volcano, but Jiang Fei could not.
As Jiang Fei proceeded deeper into the volcano, 0541 made a barrier to protect Jiang Fei as the temperature had reached beyond human survivability. Water would have evaporated almost instantly at this point. Not to mention the poisonous gas in the air that would harm Jiang Fei if he had inhaled them.
The pathway got softer as Jiang Fei walked deeper. Everything was glowing in a deep red hue as the temperature grew hotter and hotter. He finally found the beast, only when he was floating amongst lava.
“What in tarnation is that thing?” cried Jiang Fei as he almost slipped off the hoverboard.
A few hundred meters below Jiang Fei’s current depth was a nasty looking glob of... thing floating on the lava as it breathed slowly.
It was pinkish in color and huge. No matter how Jiang Fei looked at it, it was an indescribable... thing. At best, it looked like a large clump of meat sticking to each other in a nasty way. It had a few extensions that looked like tentacles waving around.
“Based on the record, it is called the Doomsday monster. It only looks that way because of the injuries it had sustained,” said 0541 as it projected the original image.
“Oh damn. That thing doesn’t anything look like its original form!”
Based on 0541’s image, its “normal” appearance was more ferocious and beast-like. It was supposed to have black colored scales all over its body. Overall, it shared similarities with the mythical creature Cthulhu, with numerous eyes in its head and tentacles around its lower jaw. The data 0541 even explained that each of its eyes was capable of blasting energy attacks.
“0541, since it’s in that condition, how about we cut off some of its flesh?” said Jiang Fei.
“I would suggest otherwise. Currently, it is in a state of deep sleep. However, if any damage is inflicted, it might be awakened. Even if you could fend off every physical attack, you would never survive its psychic attacks!” said 0541.
“Ah...”
Jiang Fei immediately gave up trying to harvest its flesh. Jiang Fei had completely forgotten that even though it looked like a blob of jelly, it was still a Level 5 Alien Beast!
“Well then, if I can’t take its flesh, why did you lead me down here?” cried Jiang Fei.
