Chapter 1290: Training Starts

The surge of power was visible to everyone and there was even a glow around Jiang Fei. It was a very faint illumination but the shockwave from his surging power blasted everything around Jiang Fei, including Gaxia who was only a few inches away. Only now did Moglain realize why Alexis and Ottogackt strongly coveted Jiang Fei.

“Impossible...” Gaxia grunted as he struggled to get up. He had always thought that Jiang Fei was nothing but trash from a random corner of the universe. He absolutely could not accept his defeat at Jiang Fei’s hands.

“Kill him,” murmured Ottogackt, stepping closer to Jiang Fei.

“Huh? Why?” asked Jiang Fei.

Gaxia might be an intolerant Decronian, much like any other Valsalrian, but he had done nothing wrong except bad-mouth Earth. His offence only deserved a good beatdown, not a death penalty.

Ottogackt turned to look at Jiang Fei’s calm expression and sighed.

“I see.”

It was a sign of compassion... mercy even, and Ottogackt did not like it. Jiang Fei’s innate talent had proved that he was a powerful fighter. It was the bare minimum that Ottogackt would accept in his class.

Knowing full well that Jiang Fei was a being that had empathy and compassion, Ottogackt was still willing to take him in. He believed that he could change Jiang Fei’s perception.

Jiang Fei lowered his guard when Ottogackt did not give him any other orders. He shut down Omnisurge and waited.

“Come,” said Ottogackt, turning his back on Jiang Fei and leaving.

Jiang Fei hesitated slightly when he saw that everyone had changed their minds about him. The thought of having everyone’s attention was nice but he knew well that he would be everyone’s target if he stood out. He did not expect to jump an entire year, especially since he had just enrolled in the academy.

So he left them with no regrets. He did not understand why Moglain was not willing to teach him or why the trainer was so offended by him. By all means, there was no reason for him to stay.

Ottogackt, the master of all trainers in Redstone. Respected by all, even Commander Alexis. He may be proud and arrogant but he had all the reasons and merit to be. Jiang Fei had only been on Redstone for less than a week but he had heard of Ottogackt’s many merits from Vorland. He knew that he would become stronger by following this infamous trainer.

When Jiang Fei and Ottogackt returned to his personal training ground, everyone was already waiting, including Jiang Fei’s previous opponents, the Decronain and the boarman.

“Jiang Fei, from today onwards, you will be taking my classes. Get into formation,” said Ottogackt, again with his back facing Jiang Fei. It was obvious that he was not going to show any mercy to the young Terran.

“Attention! We will pick up where we left off yesterday. Back into the facility!” ordered Ottogackt like he was without a single care in the world.

“Sir, yes, sir!”

Including Jiang Fei, everyone saluted and replied.

Jiang Fei had no idea what the facility was but he did realize that he was not going to receive any special treatment from Ottogackt. Instead, he would be put into the same group as the other trainees.

The entire class of graduating trainees quickly reached a larger building. There was no one around except operators who were tending to machines by the side of the structure. It was clear to Jiang Fei that the whole training ground was under Ottogackt’s control and command.

Besides Alston, Ottogackt probably held the highest authority, even in areas that he was not assigned to. Due to his domineering attitude, the other trainers were more than happy to let him have his way. No one dared to go against him lest they face his wrath.

Ottogackt was standing at the entrance of the structure, legs crossed and hands in his pocket.

“How are young ones such as yourself slower than a man such as myself... seems that you need a little extra motivation to get those muscles growing. I’m setting the gravity to 50g and the time accelerator to 5T,” said Ottogackt. He gestured to an operator at the side of the structure.

“Sir, thank you, sir!” replied the others. Jiang Fei was the only one that replied “sir, yes, sir.”

“Go ahead, I’ll die of old age by the time you’re done,” said Ottogackt when the operator gave him the go signal.

Everyone formed a single file and entered the structure.

As soon as Jiang Fei passed through a short tunnel, he kissed the floor hard, face-first. He could not even see the light at the end of the tunnel!

“F*ck...” Jiang Fei grunted as he felt every single bone and muscle in his body screaming with pain. 50g of Redstone’s gravity was not for mere mortals!

At this point, Jiang Fei had to activate Omnisurge or his bones would be crushed under its own weight. He controlled Omnisurge to only give him up to 500,000 combat level. At this level, he could survive in this crushing gravity but not be comfortable enough to hinder his training session. Relying too much on Omnisurge would not be as fruitful as training under pressure.

As he got to his feet, Jiang Fei realized that he was not the only one that had been floored by the powerful gravity pull. The boarman was also on the floor, grunting and panting furiously. The others managed to get to their feet.

Unlike Jiang Fei, the boarman did not possess any ‘power up’ ability that he could rely on. Even after struggling for so long, he could not even lift a single finger. Standing up would be an impossible task for him.

Ignoring the poor alien, Jiang Fei gazed at the scenery. It was a sight to behold as they were inside a building yet there were mountains, valleys, and even its own climate!

It would seem that the Valsalrians had mastered Spacetime manipulations to the point where they could even create a world within a building. There were plants and forests growing from the edge of the horizon!

Jiang Fei’s eyes traced the curving mountain ranges and could not see the edge as it extended far beyond the horizon. Jiang Fei figured that they must be inside a simulated environment or a real miniature world.

Ottogackt’s voice could be heard howling from the skies above. “Get your ass moving already!”

Everyone got serious for a moment and started to run. The stronger ones were seen sprinting while the weaker ones had to drag their weight as they walked at a snail’s pace. Some had to crawl as their overbearing sizes had proved to be too much for this high gravity setting.

While everyone was actually moving in some way, the boarman was the only trainee that was still immobile. Jiang Fei was also still trying to lift his right foot forward. Meanwhile, everyone else had either left them alone or disappeared into the distance, leaving nothing but a trail of dust behind them.

“Sheesh... what’s the rush? Is there a fire behind us or is the gravity up ahead better than back here...” muttered Jiang Fei.

“Huff! Huff! Huff!”

The boarman’s pants grew louder and louder. His expression changed from a furious struggle to despair and fear. It took Jiang Fei a moment to figure out that there was something else in this training field that he should be afraid of.

Jiang Fei frowned, thinking things over. Sure, having to move, much less run, in this extreme simulated environment was tough, but their training couldn’t be this straightforward! No one cared to explain what was going on with the lesson, leaving Jiang Fei completely unaware that every single one of Ottogackt’s lessons had something lurking in the shadows, ready to jump out and kill them.

Frantic, Jiang Fei tried to walk faster. He heard a deep, loud thumping sound coming from behind him. The thumping sound was accompanied by a soft but obvious heartbeat, like a subtle vibration beneath his feet.

“This cannot be good,” said Jiang Fei.

The ground they stood on cracked opened and a larger living organism emerged out of the earth like a kraken from the depths of the sea. As soon as Jiang Fei’s eyes locked onto the unknown being, the scope immediately displayed information about it on the HUD.

Abomination: Intelligence being of the Sawi system. Possesses a powerful combat level and extreme adaptability.

Combat Level: 350,000

Jiang Fei arched his eyebrow when recognized the beast. He even kept one of his own on in the eastern land! But compared to the one he had, the creature in front of him was far, far more menacing. Not to mention, larger!

The one he saw on Earth was just a Level 5 being with a combat level lower than 20,000. If it had been the same as the one currently in front of Jiang Fei, Earth would have been completely devoured.
