MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1498 - 1498: Myriad Prodigies: Final Round (9)“…Fight!”
Although the arbiter found the atmosphere surrounding both Valyr and Yarkov awkward, the man was left with no choice but to officially start the fight, seeing as both of them looked quite eager to fight one another.
“[Domain of the Platinum Guardian].”
Whoosh!
Living up to his title as the Resilient Human Fortress, rather than take the initiative and land the first hit on Valyr, Yarkov went ahead and conjured a domain surrounding him that bolstered his defense.
“[Reinforced Armament of the Platinum Guardian].”
“[Bastion of the Platinum Guardian].”
Then, wanting to make sure that he reduced the damage he might receive as much as possible, he then went ahead and activated a couple more defensive skills, causing his aura to start giving off the feeling that he was an impregnable castle.
Placing his shield in front of him after that, Yarkov glanced at Valyr with a hint of mockery before taunting him. “Come on, oh ‘Arcane Lord of Destruction’. Show me if you have what it takes to break down this human fortress.”
“…If you say so,” said the young man in response, shrugging his shoulders as he went ahead and used [Limit Break] on himself.
“[Orb of Apyrhan].”
Giving his body the time it needed to adjust to the sudden boost in stats, Valyr then went ahead and took out his staff before sending out a flaming orb towards his opponent.
Bang!
Watching the flaming orb collide with Yarkov head-on, a look of curiosity briefly flitted across the young man’s face, inwardly wondering the man’s title as the Resilient Human Fortress was not without basis.
Fortunately, as the aftermath of his attack gradually subsided, he was able to confirm that there was indeed basis behind the title, seeing that his attack had only affected the man’s shield.
And even then, the surface of the shield was only slightly charred because of it.
“…So that’s all there was to it?” Though the physical force behind Valyr’s attack caused him to inwardly change his impression of the young man, Yarkov continued to look down at him on the outside, feigning amusement as he glanced at his shield.
“If that’s all you have, then you won’t be able to defeat me.”
“Let’s see about that,” said Valyr in response, not hesitating to cast more flaming orbs before sending them Yarkov’s way.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Casting them at the very second they were off cooldown, the young man continuously bombarded his opponent with flaming orbs, causing some of the crowd’s complexions to pale as they thought about how one of the orbs would easily injure them, if not incapacitate them.
Yet, the man on the receiving end took it all without complaint, with the only slight change thanks to the bombardment of the orbs was the man taking a couple steps back.
Nevertheless, Yarkov still remained unscathed.
“You must be getting tired,” said the man, briefly putting his shield to the side as he looked at the slightly exhausted Valyr.
Smiling in amusement, he asked him, “We both know you won’t be able to break through my defense, so why not accept reality and admit defeat right now?”
“…” Although he heard his opponent’s question clearly, Valyr remained silent the entire time.
Then, sparing a glance back at Yarkov, he went ahead and awakened his mana circuit.
‘[One Star, Three Revolutions, Nine Cycles].’
Swoosh!
Allowing the Lesser Arcana in his body to slowly get up to speed, Valyr went ahead and activated [Limit Break] once more as he cast [Orb of Apyrhan] one more time.
However, unlike before, he cast the spell with its corresponding incantation.
“Oh, Great Arcane. As your Emissary, grant me the strength of the essence of magic.”
“Under your might and my control, may this spell I cast cast my foes to an unending inferno.”
“[Orb of Apyrhan].”
Swoosh!
Although it seemed like Valyr had only activated two additional skills before casting yet another spell, the might contained within the flaming orb was greatly amplified, giving off the feeling as if it was an inferno ready to raze the world to ashes.
“…Haah!” Of course, Yarkov took notice of this as well, causing his expression to turn solemn as he actively made a move to defend against the attack.
Bang!
Slamming his shield against the orb, the man was able to negate a considerable portion of the orb’s might in the process, causing him to inwardly let out a sigh of relief.
Though, just as he had successfully defended against the first one…
“[Orb of Apyrhan].”
Valyr shortly sent another one towards Yarkov, its might slightly greater than the one that came before it.
Feeling like the situation would end up with him losing if he didn’t do anything about it, Yarkov went ahead and slammed his shield against the incoming orb once more, only to then activate a skill the moment the two made contact.
“[Platinum Guardian’s Reflection]!”
Whoosh!
As if the orb had been possessed by an otherworldly source of energy all of a sudden, the flaming orb soon flew back to where Valyr was, causing the latter to slightly frown as he took note of the slight hint of platinum coating the orb.
Nevertheless, the young man had no problems defending against it, casting another flaming orb to negate it before going ahead and taking things up a notch by activating yet another skill.
‘[Arcane Authority].’
‘[Partial Sky].’
Whoosh!
With the threat of the reflected orb pretty much nullified, Valyr continued to send more and more flaming orbs towards Yarkov, this time at slightly greater speeds thanks to the reduced cooldown [Partial Sky] gave him.
Of course, with the might contained within each spell going up yet another level, the man was forced to defend against each attack far more actively than before, even going so far as to buff himself with another skill just to make sure he could defend each one.
Continuing to stand in place as he cast [Orb of Apyrhan] again and again, a slight smile soon appeared on Valyr’s face as he changed [Partial Sky] to [First Sky], increasing both the might behind the orb, as well as the speed at which he sent it.
‘…Is there any end to this?’ At this point, Yarkov began to feel a sense of despair from the great number of orbs coming at him.
After all, even one of the orbs hitting him at this moment now had the capability to actually injure him if he did not defend well.
Then again, amidst the despair he felt, he held belief that the battle would end with him being victorious, confident that Valyr would run out of steam before he did.
However, he forgot to take one thing into consideration.
The fact that Valyr had the option to speed things up before that happened.
“[Soul Fusion].”
Whoosh!
Bolstered by the sudden increase to his stats, Valyr went ahead and cast multiple fiery orbs in a row and sent it all towards Yarkov.
Feeling the danger from each orb reaching an unbelievable level all of a sudden, the man pushed all of his senses to their utmost limits as he timed his usage of his skills to where he’d take the least damage possible.
“Haah… haah…”
By the time he had defended against all of the orbs, Yarkov gasped for air, his chest heaving as he thought about how close he was to being in danger.
Nevertheless, he was still able to defend against all of the orbs, causing him to let out a cackle as he said, “I win, Ataraxia! I’ve exhausted all of your cards!”
As these words left his mouth, the man shifted his gaze towards where the young man stood, expecting the latter to look at him with both despair and indignation.
Yet, once he did so… Valyr was nowhere to be found.
Schwing!
Just as a thought that explained the current situation popped up in his mind, Yarkov soon felt a blade being pressed near his neck as his mind swiftly went into panic mode.
Seeing his opponent become flustered in response to his actions, Valyr could not help but let out a chuckle.
“So…”
