MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1493 - 1493: Myriad Prodigies: Final Round (4)

“…Urk!”

With his attention solely focused on landing the first hit during their fight, Jameson did not notice the iridescent strands forming around his feet, causing him to fall prey to them the moment they latched on the ground.

Thud!

Making the ground briefly quake in response to his fall, it took a while for the man to get up, his expression that of slight annoyance as he looked at Valyr.

“Where did that come from?” he asked, to which the latter pointed at his feet in response.

Seeing where his opponent was pointing, Jameson went ahead and looked down, only for his expression to turn solemn as he noticed the iridescent strands pinning his feet to the ground.

‘As far as I know, he used something similar during the second round,’ thought the man after looking at it for a bit more, only to feel a great sense of danger in the direction of his opponent a few seconds later.

“Oh, Great Arcane. As your Emissary, grant me the strength of the essence of magic.”

Not knowing when his opponent had taken out a staff, Jameson watched as the aura of magic began to fluctuate around the young man.

“Under your might and my control, may this spell I cast cast my foes to an unending inferno.”

“[Orb of Apyrhan].”

Whoosh!

With his buffs, the mana circuit, and the incantation working together, it did not take long for a massive flaming orb to manifest from the staff’s tip, giving off an intense heat that caused Jameson to shudder in fear.

Knowing that he’d be severely injured if he were to take the attack head-on, the man went ahead and distanced himself from Valyr as much as possible, only to be reminded that he was still pinned in the exact same spot he fell.

Feeling the young man stare at him as the massive orb of flames continued to hover in the air, Jameson eventually gritted his teeth as he activated one of his stronger defensive skills.

“[Greater Armor Reinforcement]!”

Bang!

As if waiting for his opponent to mitigate as much damage from the attack as possible, Valyr only threw the orb at Jameson the moment the latter activated his defensive skill, instantly dispelling the strands binding the latter’s feet in the process.

Swoosh!

Unsurprisingly, with the might contained in the orb, the stocky man was sent flying to the edge of the platform, even though his body was far heavier than the average.

Thud!

Landing on the ground yet again, but this time from a higher point, Jameson could not help but let out a slightly pained cry as he forced himself to stand up once more.

“[Orb of Apyrhan].”

However, rather than give him an opportunity to mount an additional defense against his attacks, Valyr sent yet another flaming orb towards his opponent, only to then follow it up with a domain that reduced the latter’s stats.

“Domain. Debuff.”

Swoosh!

Watching as an iridescent domain expanded to cover the entire platform, Jameson hastily distanced himself from the approaching orb, his body now knowing full well how powerful the orb was once it made contact.

Yet, even though he pushed his body to its utmost limit, the man felt that his stats weren’t as high as they should be, which did not take long for him to realize was caused by the domain.

“[Guardian’s Bulwark]!”

Getting the feeling that Valyr would just send another attack at him if he were to dodge, Jameson decided to push his luck once more as he stopped in his tracks, activating yet another defensive skill in response to the orb.

Bang!

Although the collision between him and the orb caused him to be pushed back, the man fared better this time around, only being forced to take a few steps back from the orb’s physical force.

Feeling ecstatic at the fact that he’d successfully defended against the young man’s attacks, Jameson regained some of the confidence he had lost as he thought about making use of a few more defensive skills to even out the playing field.

Yet, just as this thought came to mind…

Valyr decided to thoroughly crush the man’s hopes with his next attack.

“[Archives of the Grand Arcane].”

“[First Verse of Creation].”

“[Awakening of Luminance].”

With Valyr’s final attack against his opponent causing the tournament to be covered in a wave of bright light once more, it did not take long for him to secure his victory, allowing both identities to move onto the next bracket of the final round.

Unsurprisingly, as they continued to fight against their opponents, the audience gradually began to notice how Valyr and Ataraxia tackled their fights from different perspectives.

Although Valyr boasted a level of strength that was near the top of what was expected from the tournament’s participants, he preferred to take a slightly defensive approach in his fights, lulling his opponents into a false sense of security.

Then, once he felt that his opponent was thoroughly convinced that he couldn’t fight back, he would make use of his stealth and end the fight in one swift move.

On the other hand, Ataraxia fought against his opponents in the exact opposite manner, making use of everything in his arsenal to immediately tip the scales of battle to his favor.

Whether it was the domain he formed through Mystic Energy, or the spells he had access to through [Arcane Codex] and [Archives of the Grand Arcane], the young man made sure to time his usage perfectly, gradually leaving his opponents with no path for retreat.

Of course, the main reason why he had succeeded in using such an aggressive style of fighting was due to the fact that he had far greater strength than the opponents he fought against.

In fact, even though he was already fighting for his spot at the top 200s, the opponent that was matched up with him was only at the start of Rank 4, a stark contrast to the average level of strength that remained after five straight rounds of fighting.

Naturally, they’ve also confirmed around that point that Lunarossa had indeed given them preferential treatment during this final round, prompting the two to send her words of gratitude as the fight for the top 128 began.
