MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1404 - 1404: Perks of Greater Synergy

After recovering from the shock brought about by Arcane’s words, it went without saying that Valyr asked her for more information on the skill.

After all, who wouldn’t want to make use of incredibly powerful spells if they had the means to do so?

Sadly, contrary to the expectations the young man had for the skill, Arcane told him outright that the skill only allowed him access to spells that corresponded to the class rank he was currently in.

Considering that he was still at the peak of Rank 2, then that meant that the spells he had access to if he were to use it would only be spells created by peak Rank 2 mages at most.

Hearing that, Valyr’s excitement was immediately dampened, thinking that there wasn’t any point in making use of the skill while he was still at the lower ranks of power.

However, after a bit of incessant persuasion from the woman before him, the young man eventually relented and activated the skill, only for his previous thoughts on the skill to be turned upside down on its head.

“How…” Though the spells he had access to did indeed span only up to those made by peak Rank 2 mages, it did not take long for Valyr to notice that almost all of them were considered the cream of the crop.

Whether it was in terms of damage, cooldown, or its subsequent effects, the young man considered these spells to be far better than the ones he could create through [Arcane Codex].

In fact, even the ones that weren’t considered the best of the best were still pretty superb in terms of quality, prompting Valyr to wonder if there was even any point into [Arcane Codex] at all.

“Pretty good skill, right?” Arcane gave off a proud aura, her indescribable gaze focused on the young man’s reaction. “I think you’ve already caught onto this, but the skill becomes more useful the stronger you get.”

Nodding in agreement with her words, Valyr stared at his skill for a bit before asking her a question. “Is there a limit to how many spells I could grab from this skill?”

“Technically, no.” The woman shook her head. “You’re only allowed to hold at most three spells from the compendium at once, but you’re free to swap those spells for other ones at any time.”

“Is there a way to increase that limit?” asked the young man in return.

“Either you evolve the subclass, or you improve your comprehension of the Arcane language,” replied Arcane, which prompted Valyr to look back at her with a wry smile.

“Speaking of the Arcane language, the last thing that sets your new subclass apart from its previous version is the fact that it allows you to comprehend the Arcane language faster through another skill.”

Whoosh!

Just as Valyr was about to ask what she meant by that, the woman went ahead and conjured a few pieces of parchment before him, all of which had specific runes from the Arcane language inscribed on them.

“Although I’ll teach you one of the ways you can make use of the skill, you’ll have to figure out the specifics of it for yourself later on.”

As those words left her mouth, she then told Valyr to use the inscribing process he knew on the parchments, instructing him to trace the runes on the parchments one by one.

Though he found the instruction slightly odd, the young man still did as he was told, condensing a bit of mana onto his fingertip before proceeding to trace the runes one by one.

Fwoosh!

In a matter of seconds, Valyr’s eyes widened in surprise as he felt a deluge of information enter his brain the moment he started tracing.

Though he did not have any prior reference on how fast he was comprehending the Arcane language, the young man felt as if the secrets of the rune he was tracing was laid before him, allowing him to comprehend more of the rune than if he were to do it any other way.

Feeling both his body and mind gradually getting stronger the more he traced the runes, it was no surprise that he soon fell into a trance of sorts, proceeding to comprehend as much of the runes as possible whilst tracing them with his mana.

Swoosh!

Watching the energy coating Valyr’s fingertip gradually become more refined the more he traced the mana, Arcane gave off a feeling of delight as she continued to watch him work in silence, feeling that his comprehension of the language was greatly improving by the second.

“…Woah.”

By the time he had fully comprehended the final rune Arcane showed him, it was only then did Valyr remove himself from the trance, letting out a faint sigh of exhaustion as he dispersed the mana on his fingertip.

Closing his eyes for a bit, he then went over the bits and pieces of information he absorbed during the process, swiftly organizing them in his head before starting to transform said information into usable knowledge.

Ding!

Once he was done, Valyr went ahead and showed Arcane an expression of gratitude as he went ahead and checked how much his comprehension of the Arcane language had grown.

In his mind, he felt that it wouldn’t be surprising if his comprehension had only grown to around 0.05 or 0.07%. After all, it took him quite a long time for his comprehension of the language to even be close to reaching 0.01%.

Yet, against all his expectations, the value that appeared on the screen before him was far higher than even his wildest imaginations, leaving Valyr at an utter loss for words.

“1.75%…?!”

For a while, the young man stared at that number with round eyes, the neurons in his mind short-circuiting as he tried to wrap his head around how his comprehension had grown that much in such a short time.

“What’s there to be surprised about?” Seeing Valyr’s shock, Arcane could not stop herself from laughing in amusement. “I just gave you the foundational runes of the Arcane language, that’s all.”

“If anything, it would’ve been more surprising if your comprehension didn’t improve to that degree after tracing them over and over again.”

Hearing those words, the young man forced himself to take a few deep breaths, hoping to regain his bearings.

Then, with a long exhale, he eventually looked back at Arcane with a calm expression, his eyes conveying all the gratitude he felt from her actions.

“Don’t feel thankful just yet,” said Arcane in response to his gaze, letting out a bit of laughter once more from the amusement she felt.

“I’m sure you’ve already noticed, but I’ve modified your subclass to be a Growth-type subclass.”

“And that… is where the great synergy between your main class and new subclass finally comes into play.”
