MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1398 - 1398: Clearing Prerequisites (2)

‘…Yep.’

‘That pretty much answers it.’

Whoosh!

Just as the thought came to mind, most of Valyr’s attention was still focused inwards as the mana in his body swiftly circulated according to a certain pattern.

To an outsider, it might seem as if the mana was just following the route of an esoteric mana circuit. After all, there were many mana circuit skills out there that prompted one to circulate mana in circles of various sizes.

However, as time gradually passed, the mana within Valyr’s body gradually began to gain a sort of ethereal feeling to it, making it seem as if he was establishing a connection to a realm far away from Veldanyr.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Though the sensation made him recall the experience he had at the start of consuming the Nascent Rebirth Elixir, the young man continued to place his utmost attention towards circulating his mana, having already gone through the process a few times already.

Fwoosh!

With that, it did not take long for the ethereal feeling to become something more corporeal, slowly transforming the mana within his body into something a bit more than it previously was.

In the end, he spent around six more hours of constant circulation in order for all the mana in his body to be transformed into that slightly better version.

Fortunately, by the time it was over, the system had given him confirmation that the transformation was successful.

Ding!

[You have completed the 5th level of the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture.]

[Your passive skill ’81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture — 4th Level’ has been upgraded to ’81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture — 5th Level’.]

“…Finally.” Seeing that his efforts hadn’t gone in vain, Valyr immediately laid himself flat on the ground, staring at the night sky as he gave himself a short break to compose his thoughts.

Then, after feeling like he’d gotten enough rest, he sat up once more, unleashing a bit of the energy he just spent hours on in the form of a quick mana bolt.

Whoosh!

Manipulating the bolt to circle around him, the young man gradually began to nod in satisfaction as he used all of his senses to gauge the difference between the mana he used to have and the mana he now currently wielded.

“Considering that it’s the level corresponding to the 1st Metamorphosis stage, that’s quite a decent jump,” said Valyr, dispelling the bolt with a satisfied smile.

“Then again… to think that I’d reach the 5th level of the scripture in just a day and a half is quite unbelievable.”

Valyr soon let out a chuckle. “But that also answers one of the questions I had at the start.”

After completing the first quest needed to evolve his class, Valyr went ahead and focused on the quest that seemed the next easiest in terms of difficulty.

Although that title belonged to two quests that both involved spending a lot of time on monotonous work, he eventually decided to go with the one that needed him to transform his mana into Lesser Arcana.

Slightly skeptical at how long it would take him to reach the level necessary to complete the quest, Valyr’s doubts and queries were immediately answered once he completed the scripture’s 1st level in just half an hour.

Though the levels that came after that took considerably more and more time than the last, the young man still felt that the time spent was a worthwhile trade-off.

After all, in order for him to push both mana and Shadow Energy in his other identity to the stage of 3rd Cleansing, he spent a total of three months in time-accelerated space to do so.

In comparison, it took roughly over 60 times less time than that for him to push his mana one stage above 3rd Cleansing.

“Well, the scripture does simplify the purification process the higher the level goes,” thought Valyr out loud, wondering if it had something to do with the fact that the scripture split up the transformation process into multiple levels.

Getting the feeling that his train of thought was correct, the young man decided not to think about it any further, logging out for the day as he soon headed off into a deep slumber.

“Now then…”

“What should I do next?”

Having gotten a good night’s rest after spending almost the entirety of his previous session pushing his mana to the 5th level, Valyr wondered if he should continue practicing the scripture or do something else for the meantime.

“Considering the pace it’s going at, I’ll probably take around a week and half to reach the 9th level of the scripture,” murmured the young man to himself, the gears in his mind turning as he rubbed his chin.

“Aside from that, is there anything else I should be doing?”

Unsurprisingly, Valyr immediately thought of the classes in his other identity, with all of them having been left more or less untouched ever since he got them.

Though, those thoughts were swiftly pushed aside as a wave of realization suddenly hit him, reminding him of something he had yet to obtain as a player.

“A subclass…” uttered the young man, only to then slap himself in the face after that.

“I’ve already reached the peak of Rank 2, yet I still don’t have a subclass as a player yet.”

Feeling like he’d missed out on the opportunity to showcase a far more overbearing prowess during the recent tournament, Valyr inwardly admonished himself for having overlooked something that would given him a massive boost to his strength.

Then again, he did not beat himself up for too long, being reminded of the fact that it also took him a while before he got his hands on his first subclass back then.

Not only that, but he had no idea what subclass would suit his current identity, especially if he wanted to bolster his spellcasting abilities even further.

“Should I ask Mystia if I could obtain the Mystic Rune Alchemist subclass?” asked Valyr to himself, recalling that the stats he gained from it aligned well with his current build of going all INT.

However, after mulling over the choice for a bit more, he decided not to go with it in the end for a couple of reasons.

For one, his other identity already had it as a second subclass. Though it did not give the same amount of stats as a first subclass did, the skills gained from receiving the subclass remained unaffected.

Other than that, it would just result in redundant skills in the off-chance he needed to use [Soul Fusion].

Sure, he’d have higher stats if he were to take it, but wasn’t it just plain better for him if he were to have higher stats and other skills to choose from?

“I have a couple subclasses in mind thanks to my memories, but none of them go up the Mythic level like [Shadow Serpent Lancer],” said the young man to himself after some time, having spent the past few minutes perusing the treasure trove of memories he had from his past life.

In the end, he decided to just ask for Dalton’s advice in picking a subclass, confident that the director would give him a subclass that synergized with a magic class the best.

‘…Or I could also ask Arcane for the best subclass,’ thought Valyr a few seconds after, being reminded that he now had a way to contact her whenever and wherever he wanted.

‘After all, she knows that my main class is Emissary of the Arcane. Considering how she helped me gain a lot more from absorbing the Nascent Rebirth Elixir, she’d probably tell me the subclass that would synergize with it the most.’

Recalling how many times he postponed simple tasks in the past, only to forget them and recall them later on in the future, the young man had a slightly bitter smile on his face as he sent a quick message to Dalton.

Just as he sent a message to the old man on what subclass would suit a mage the best, he also made use of the passive skill he recently got to send a message to a nigh-omniscient being.

‘Hey, Arcane. You there?’

Activating [Mark of the Arcane Concept] as the thought came to mind, Valyr expected her to take a bit of time to reply back to him.

In fact, there was even a small part of him that believed she wouldn’t reply to him at all.

Yet, in line with one of the messages that came after he obtained the passive skill, a mix of various voices began to echo in his mind mere seconds after he sent the message out.

‘…You called?’

‘Gah!’ Not expecting Arcane to reply to him so soon, Valyr was slightly caught off guard by her quick response.

Taking a quick breather to compose himself, he swiftly returned his attention back to her. ‘Did I disturb you with my message or anything?’

‘Nope,’ replied Arcane, her tone slightly tinged with happiness. ‘As I said before. Even if you call me through your thoughts, I’ll sense it and I’ll answer.’

‘I’m the personification of magic, after all.’

‘Anyways, you wouldn’t be contacting me this soon for no reason. Did you evolve your class already or something?’

‘I wish.’ Valyr wryly smiled at the question. ‘If anything, I wanted to ask your opinion on something.’

‘I’m all ears,’ said Arcane, allowing the young man to let out a sigh of relief as he faintly nodded.

‘Considering that I’m your emissary, I was wondering…’ With that, he showed no hesitation in asking her the question he previously had in mind.

‘What subclass would synergize with my class the best?’

‘What subclass…?’ repeated Arcane, her tone that of slight disbelief.

Letting out a faint sigh after that, she then asked him her own set of questions. ‘What kind of subclass do you want, specifically? The subclass that would synergize the most? Or the strongest subclass that would still synergize?’

‘The subclass that would synergize the most and have the easiest requirements to obtain,’ said Valyr after pondering some time.

‘If that’s your requirement…’ Pondering over Valyr’s criteria for a bit, Arcane eventually gave him an answer. ‘Then there’s only one of them that’s obtainable in Veldanyr.’

‘What is it?’ asked Valyr in return, inwardly expecting that he’d be the first to get his hands on some unknown subclass.

Though, when he heard the name of the subclass that soon echoed in his mind, the young man’s expression turned blank.

‘It used to be called something else back then, but now it’s called…’

‘…Ah, right.’

‘The subclass that fits your criteria the best is called [Spell Scribe].’
