Ever since he mentioned that they only had until tomorrow to become the War Squad that would ultimately kill the Grand Chieftain, Hal already had a plan in mind on how they would pull it off.

’Now that I think about it, it’s quite nice that all of us have clear-cut roles for this,’ thought the man to himself, continuing to answer the questions that the others had over the mission.

’There’s no doubt that Vera’s gonna be the main buffer for this mission. After all, her Mystic Energy is incredibly versatile in where it could be applied.’

’Though, it would also probably be a good idea to have her assist the main damage dealer by binding the Grand Chieftain in place.’ Hal faintly nodded at the thought, only to push the thought to the side.

’As for my role in this mission, it would probably be the same role I’ll give Valyr once all of the confusion has been clarified.’

’With our combat strength and survivability being the highest out of the entire War Squad, it would probably be best to have the two of us focus on making sure that Vera and the other two wouldn’t be disturbed during the mission.’

’And I guess that only leaves me with the two that would be doing most of the heavy lifting for this mission,’ inwardly muttered Hal to himself, briefly glancing at the two that had remained mostly silent all this time.

’Harold and Nerissa.’

Although their appearances made them seem like they weren’t related whatsoever, Harold and Nerissa were actually half-siblings, with both of them carrying an immense grudge towards the parent that connected them in the first place.

Vowing to stop at nothing in order to enact revenge on what that parent had done to them, the two of them roamed the lands of Veldanyr as an illusionist-assassin pair, giving them easy access to the organizations of the underworld.

With Harold’s illusion arts fortifying the stealth Nerissa’s abilities innately had, the two eventually garnered a reputation that caused many high-ranking officials just at the mere mention of their moniker.

Yet, once news of humanity warring against the orcs began to spread, the two did not hesitate to leave their past behind, only carrying the skills they’ve honed in the underworld in order to create a new name for themselves.

’I suppose it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have Valyr improve both of their weapons before starting the mission,’ thought Hal to himself, mentioning to the others about the support they would obtain if they were the ones to kill the Grand Chieftain before the others.

And with that, just as he thought that the plan he came up with was the plan they’d be using to complete part of their mission, Valyr went ahead and showed the entire War Squad a skill he had yet to show to both Hal and Vera.

"[Phases of the Azure Primacy]."

"[Traceless]."

Whoosh!

Manifesting one of the properties contained within his Prime Azure Energy, Valyr felt as if the presence of the azure energy circulating around his body diminished by a great amount.

Of course, because of that, the aura he gave off greatly diminished as well, briefly causing Hal and the others to think that the young man had disappeared in front of them all of a sudden.

"…Eh?" However, with all of them having been long polished by the battlefield, it only took a few seconds for the others to realize and understand what was going on.

"…You could do that?" Hal was the first to ask, looking at Valyr as if this was the first time he’d seen this side of the young man.

"Obviously," replied Valyr with a slight chuckle, subtly increasing the speed at which his energy circulated around his body. "I wouldn’t have brought something like this out if I couldn’t do it in the first place, no?"

Feeling Valyr’s aura grow a bit more faint as he replied to his question, the gears in Hal’s mind began to turn as he asked him yet another question. "When did you…?"

"No, that shouldn’t be the question I should be asking."

"Instead… does that ability of yours only extend to your presence?"

"I’m glad you asked," said the young man with a grin, extending one of his hands outward as he conjured one of his most basic spells.

"[Four Paths Azure Magic Arts]."

"[Four Paths Azure Bolt]."

Whoosh!

Considering the fact that he was the one casting the spell, Valyr could clearly see the bolt he had created through the skill, as well as the elements of Wind he had imbued within it to give it more lethality.

Seeing that the others were looking at him in confusion, wondering why he extended his hand all of a sudden, the young man inwardly let out a chuckle as he threw the bolt far enough to barely the edge of Hal’s face.

Swoosh!

"…!" Feeling his danger sense become greatly alert at that moment, it did not take long for Hal to realize what the young man just did, with the others also realizing the same thing a few seconds later.

"Wait…"

"Did Ylvar just…?"

"I think… he did…?"

Slowly coming to the realization that Valyr had done something that needed the two of them to work together to achieve, Harold and Nerissa were the first two to look at the young man with amazement, their expressions showing how eager they were to ask him how it worked.

On the other hand, Vera had a similar reaction to Hal the first time he realized what Valyr had just done, her mouth wide agape as she looked at the young man at a great loss for words.

As for Hal, with him being the target of what was basically a demonstration of what Valyr could contribute to the mission, the gears in the man’s mind pretty much went on overdrive at that very moment.

After all, he already had great difficulty realizing what Valyr had done just now, even with the improved senses given to them after reaching the peak of Rank 5.

As long as Valyr went all out in terms of combat power and made sure to hide the presence of his attack from the Grand Chieftain as much as possible, wouldn’t that mean they’d be the first War Squad to kill the Grand Chieftain?

With this thought in mind, Hal began to feel a bit of excitement well up within him, slightly giddy at the thought of being the target of the military’s full support.

Though, before he thought of proceeding with the new plan he had in mind, the man decided to ask Valyr another question to make sure it would work.

"Say, Ylvar." Hal looked at Valyr in the eye. "Does that only work for one skill, or…?"

"I haven’t really checked it out in detail yet," said Valyr as he scratched the back of his head. "But I’m pretty sure it works on any skill I use."

And with Valyr’s words as confirmation, Hal’s decision to go with the new plan was sealed.
