"Wait… what?"

Hearing that the mission was classified as Crimson Mercenary-rank, Valyr immediately felt his mind blank out at the term to the point that he spoke his thoughts out loud.

After all, for one to reach such a rank in the first place, one would first have to go through the various ranks and reach the rank of a 10-Star Mercenary.

Then, once one accumulated enough promotion points at that rank, one would be able to transcend the number-based rankings and become classified as an Iron Mercenary, the minimum rank Valyr aspired to reach.

After that, by continuously risking one’s lives in missions that gradually increased in danger, one would be able to push their ranks even further, reaching the levels of a Silver Mercenary, then Gold, then Diamond and Platinum in that order.

Only by amassing enough promotion points as a Platinum Mercenary through death-defying missions would one reach the Crimson Mercenary rank after that, a rank that commanded as much awe and respect as someone who reached the Grand Marshal rank through the other path.

Naturally, with the authority and power one would be able to wield at the Crimson Mercenary rank, the missions that would be given to them paid that price accordingly, with each one forcing them to teeter between the edge of life and death.

In fact, the easiest ones among the missions given to those at the Crimson Mercenary rank needed one’s combat strength to match that of a Legend if one wanted to be successful.

On the other hand, if one aimed to clear the hardest missions given to those at that rank, one would have to reach the pinnacle of Rank 6 first before being able to do so.

Understanding that there was a small chance that the mission given to Hal and the others needed the strength of a peak Rank 6 class holder to clear, Valyr could not help but briefly hesitate over whether or not he should join them.

However, after giving it a bit more thought, especially after taking into consideration the levels of the two since he last met them, the young man eventually decided to agree with Hal’s proposal.

After all, with the amount of promotion points he’d gain from helping them complete the Crimson Mercenary-rank mission, he would have more than enough time to reach the Iron Mercenary rank before [Soul Shift] ran out.

’Though, I’d probably have to complete the missions I grabbed first before doing that,’ thought Valyr to himself, voicing out his finalized decision to Hal after that.

"You’ve made the right choice." Unsurprisingly, the man reacted positively to his answer, grinning widely as he wrapped his arms around the man’s shoulders. "With it, it’ll only be a matter of time until you reach the Iron Mercenary rank."

"Now that I think about it…" Seeing that the man continued to use the system’s chat feature after his response, Valyr briefly thought back to his earlier outburst before proceeding to continue the conversation through message.

"How did you know that I needed to reach the Iron Mercenary rank as soon as possible?"

"Easier than you’d think, actually," replied Hal, slightly grinning at the young man as he sent the message. "For one, the message I sent you about being mandated to come to the frontlines as soon as possible."

"That message should only have been sent out to 10-Star Mercenaries, equivalent ranks, and below, actually."

"However, with the military not knowing how they’d send a letter to you containing that announcement, they instead tasked a few people connected to you to send the message, such as me."

"I see." Valyr nodded in understanding. ’So that’s why Mystia, Julian, and the others sent me the same message about it.’

"Aside from that, the fact that I saw you grab 5 missions in one go is another reason how I figured it out," said the man after giving the young man a bit of time to think over his other words.

"But then again, you’re not the only one rushing to become an Iron Mercenary. It’s the reason why almost every mission hall is filled to the brim with people."

"Unfortunately, not all people have the same strength as we do to do that so easily," concluded the man in his final message, letting out a low sigh as he faintly shook his head.

"So…" While Valyr was still briefly pondering over the last few words Hal said to him, the man looked at him with a faint smile before asking him directly, "What do you plan on doing next? Are you gonna finish those missions you got first, or…?"

"I’ll do them first," replied the young man after a bit of thought, already taking into consideration the amount of promotion points he’d gain while doing so. "Of course, if you want me to prioritize the mission for the squad first, then I’ll do that."

"Nah, focus on your missions first." Hal shook his head, giving Valyr a reassuring smile. "Although I say the entire War Squad is at the east defensive line, only I have arrived here so far. Vera and the others would still take some time to get here."

"Hmm…" Pondering over the man’s words for a bit, the young man soon had an idea in mind. "How long would it take them to come here, give or take?"

"Around 4 to 5 hours… why do you ask?"

"…Yeah." With Hal’s words acting as confirmation, Valyr felt extremely confident he could pull his idea off. "I’ll complete all the missions I grabbed before they arrive."

"Are you sure?" Slightly left at a loss for words after hearing the young man’s claim, it took a while for Hal to regain his bearings.

"Although I know your strength is more than enough for you to complete even harder missions than the ones you got, each one would still take a while, no?"

"Even if that may be the case, don’t worry." With his mind set, Valyr stood up as he looked at Hal with a grin.

"I don’t say things I don’t mean."

"The moments those words left my mouth, I was already certain I’d make it a reality."
