Chapter 542: Flunking

“Are you brave enough to tell me your name? Scr*w your father!”
The black-clad Thief was still cursing, but Li Yi was no longer in the mood to entertain her. He summoned his horse and spurred hundreds of meters ahead. The moment he encountered one of the rayman bosses, he activated God Mode and fired a flurry of arrows into it, successfully disposing of it.

The Quest Pane’s display was updated once again. [Successfully killed a Cesha clone, Dungeon Progress advanced to 2%. Time used: 20 seconds. Grade: S. Obtained rewards: Mana Seed x1 (Permanently increases mana threshold by 10 points).]
Within Conquer, only a player’s first monster kill would be rewarded. If the player were to kill the same monster for a second time, they would receive nothing. However, if they were to completely eliminate all the monsters of the same species, they will be able to receive another reward and at the same time, their dungeon progress would advance as well.
Li Yi theorized that the reason the black-clad Thief had prevented him from killing the bosses was because she intended on eradicating all the raymen bosses herself, in order to obtain the final raymen bosses’ reward.
Making progress within Conquer was easy during the early phase. However, once the dungeon’s progress reaches somewhere around 50%, there would be a spike in difficulty and any attempts to increase the progress from then on was extremely difficult.
Sometime later, the black-clad Thief crawled back up. She had forgone the raymen bosses, and instead, with a vigorous rubbing of her hands, she summoned an iron rocket mount and got on top of it. Following that, the base of the rocket spewed flames, and she pursued Li Yi in the direction he fled to.
[Iron Rocket Aircraft, Unique Engineering Mount. Manufacturing requirement: Iron Rocket Blueprint, and Grandmaster Engineering Level.]
After angrily pursuing Li Yi for half an hour or so, the black-clad Thief had yet to find Li Yi, which made her even more furious.
She contacted her friend.
“Wang’zi, come to Conquer right this moment. F*cking hell, I’ve been bullied.”
“Who dared to bully you, Sister Cat?”
“I don’t know him. All I know that he’s an Archer, rides a golden horse, has a golden bow, exudes an aura of arrogance and pride, and has a punchable face. He’s really vexing.”
“Wait for me, I’ll assemble the brothers right this instant!”
...
Using his experience of Conquer from his past life, Li Yi’s progress quickly advanced to 35%.
Not even a day had passed and he had already reached 35%. Should this achievement be announced, there was a decent chance that the players would go crazy.
“Rong Rong, what’s your current progress? Send me your walkthrough...”
Li Yi contacted Little Elf from the Magical Realm and requested for her walkthrough.
“No wonder you didn’t come to Conquer earlier, you wanted me to experience it first. You’re like a fisherman reaping the benefits 1 , hmph!” Little Elf from the Magical Realm expressed her discontent.
Li Yi laughed heartily and sent the walkthrough he wrote to Little Elf from the Magical Realm.
The fun part of Conquer was in working together and exchanging experiences. There were many limitations when players searched blindly by themselves, but if players were to share their experiences that they had been through and discussed them together, the dungeon experience would become more enjoyable, no?
Although Li Yi disliked Conquer tremendously, completing the dungeon was still necessary as he needed those precious attribute seeds.
Back within the Iron Alliance, many players had posted about their dungeon experiences. However, compared to what Little Elf from the Magical Realm had been through, their accounts were significantly lacking.
Missus Rong was lacking in several aspects, but when it came to clearing Conquer, her abilities were greater than that of any ordinary player.
Armed with Little Elf from the Magical Realm’s dungeon walkthrough, Li Yi progressed at an even greater rate. Another two hours had passed and his dungeon progress was now at 40%. Though he did not catch up to Little Elf from the Magical Realm, his current progress was already on par with Jiaojiao’s.
Jiaojiao was constantly farming Conquer. Unlike Li Yi, she was extremely fond of the dungeon.
The reddish tint in the skies above had subsided. It was a notice to the players that the threat from above had greatly diminished.
Li Yi hopped onto Onyxia and took to the skies. Not long after, he found a majestic labyrinth floating in the sky.
The aerial labyrinth looked as if it was composed of clouds. Countless players could be seen going to and fro and wandering about within it.
The way to progress within the labyrinth was quite unique. Once players entered it, they would lose all control of their movement, and the only way to advance was to solve the riddles it provided.
For every step the players took, they would be provided with a question. If they answered it correctly, they would move forward, and if not, they would have to step back. Based on the difficulty of the questions, there would be a discrepancy in the number of steps taken forward or backward.
Li Yi entered the labyrinth made of clouds and a gold spark flickered into existence. A question appeared, and he immediately despaired.
“Which came first? The chicken or the egg?”
The countdown for the question had begun. Failing to answer within the given timeframe was akin to failing the challenge. 10, 9, 8, 7...
Li Yi almost lost his breath. Seeing that his time was about to run out, he could only rely on the answer Little Elf from the Magical Realm had provided for him. “You came first.”
“Correct. Move three steps forward.”
Tututu....
A joyful tune rang out, and Li Yi moved three steps forward.
[Second Question: Who came first? Males or females?]
Little Elf from the Magical Realm’s guide did not include this question. After all, the reason she managed to pass the labyrinth was due to her exceptional luck. Not once did she move backward, and thus, she was unaware of most of the questions.
“Your mom!” The words slipped right out of Li Yi’s mouth.
“Wrong answer. Answer given has negative connotations, please accept your punishment!”
“Boom!”
Li Yi was blasted on the spot. His HP was instantly depleted, and he dropped down from the labyrinth of clouds.
“Mogu! Mogu!”
The kind mogu cat had finally caught up. Seeing Li Yi who was blasted and covered in soot, it raised its wand and shot forth a ray of white light. It had cast Resurrection Spell and had revived Li Yi.
“Mogu! Mogu!” Once it saw that Li Yi had been revived, the mogu cat jubilantly handed over Li Yi’s equipment back to him.
‘I can’t accept this equipment, otherwise, the mogu cat will fly off.’
After sparing a glance at the sky, Li Yi shook his head and sighed. He activated God Mode and shot upwards.
The true reason that Li Yi hated the dungeon was because of the countless migraine-inducing questions littered within it. After all, back in his schooling days, he had never passed his exams. Back in his youth, his grades had planted him firmly at the second last place in class, and later on, when the punk in the last place transferred schools, he had firmly taken up his spot of the last place...
‘Let a game be a game! Scr*w you and your questions!’
Every time he entered Conquer, Li Yi’s heart was filled with displeasure. As time went on, he had grown to hate this place with every fiber of his being, and had it not been for the attribute seeds, he would have never have stepped foot into it.
Once again, Li Yi challenged the ‘Labyrinth of Clouds’. The moment he stepped into it, he was rewarded with a consolation prize by the system, a Ten-step Coupon.
[Ten-step Coupon: Ignores the current question and automatically moves the player forward by ten steps after using it.]
The sparkling first question popped into existence. [Does the universe have a boundary? What lies beyond the boundary?]
Li Yi gaped with his mouth wide open. He waited until the countdown had nearly ended before furiously slapping the Ten-step Coupon. A white light emanated underneath his feet, and he was able to ignore the current question. With a series of ‘Tch’s, he automatically moved ten steps forward...
Another question popped out, and Li Yi sunk into despair.
“How many stars are there in the sky? Please give an accurate number.”
‘What the f*ck do you want me to say?! Fine, I’ll say...’
‘F*ck!’
