Chapter 29: Mad Man
Translator: Mia
Sheng Youting managed a small bitter smile, “Hehe, you’ve never let me go. I can’t stop thinking about you. I’ve never slept tight for one night. How can you even think you would let me go as long as I stop my confrontation with Meng Shaoqian? I thought you had died. I dreamed about you every night. I dreamed about your leave, about your marriage and child bearing with another man despite my sufferings, and about your death in my arms. Every time when I’m waken up by dreams, I would never be able to sleep again. Ok, how about you coming back to my side and all things including my sufferings can be done as you wish.”
“I won’t go back anymore. My love to you has gone for long.”
“however, I...love you.”
“A one-sided love won’t last.”
“I...don’t care whether you love me or not.” Sheng Youting had recalled the words once said by Yu Lan.
It turned out that the one who offered love was always stupid yet persistent.
“Sheng Youting!”
Sheng Youting took in a deep breath, “Lan, Meng Shaoqian has bought his family trust funds. He can ensure them good lives originally. However, he has done one thing wrong. He robbed my woman from me. Now the money he used to buy trust funds turns out to be connected with money laundering. The original guarantees are gone. Now we can talk about for what can he rely on to ensure his family good lives? Are you sure you’re still willing to be together with him and bring his family disasters?”
Yu Lan closed her eyes. She managed hard to control herself yet failed, “Let Shaoqian and his family go. And let me go. I don’t owe you anything. The only thing I did wrong is to love you recklessly. I’ve paid a heavy price. I’m tired of it...Youting, how about let everything go?”
“Lan, I can’t. Unless I’m dead one day.” Hearing the busy signals from the other side, Sheng Youting hanged.
Holding Qibao in her arms, Yu Lan slept on the foam floor mats in the kid’s room. Meng Shaoqian hadn’t come back yet. She was indeed a Helen of Troy. She owed Meng Shaoqian much and there was no way for her to bring him more sufferings any more.
Meng Shaoqian worked till 2:00 in the morning. It was not until he came back before he found that Yu Lan and Qibao were gone. He tried to find them room by room but his heart became colder as he walked out from each room. In the end, he found a letter over Qibao’s pillow and he read the letter word by word. He fell heavily onto the ground once he finished his reading and his heart was finally frozen.
She was gone finally. He knew clearly that he was unable keep her stay or he had never ever kept her stay by his side once. However, he loved her. The others always teased that Yu Lan was his child bride, but his child bride was always enchanted by Sheng Youting.
Though he was wild with jealousy, he pretended to not care about it and put on a fake smile. He could not even dare to say that he loved her and comforted her that the child bride was just a feudal thought.
However, he really wanted to go back to the feudal society, for if so, he would not lose her.
He thought things would be better when they grew up. Yet, she was even more out of reach.
What a joke! They both loved the ones they couldn’t have. They loved bitterly and persistently. They won’t regret until they got wounds and scars all over their bodies and hearts.
Yu Lan dared not to leave Ancheng and thus she went to the bus station. She wanted to settle down in a secondary city near Ancheng, for she feared that Qibao would get allergic again.
The moment she was out of the taxi with Qibao in her arms, she was stopped by several strong men with black T-shirts.
Jing Shenxing looked at Yu Lan and couldn’t believe what he had seen. He pretended to remain composed and managed a smile, “Lanlan, I suggest you going back with us. The kid is small. It won’t be good to get her scared. Sheng Youting is a little bit mad now. I fear that the kid would get scared for she may have not seen such a crazy man.”
