215 It was a Misunderstanding

Fang Su Jin poured the guests some water. Her lips turned into a faint smile. “Auntie, Uncle, have some drink first.” Her gaze shifted between the elders and Zhang Yi Hai.

The family of three did not say a word after they walked in. She could sense the tension as well as the awkward atmosphere between them. Moreover, the way Uncle Zhang was staring at Zhang Yi Hai made her anxious.

She could not understand why would the Zhang couple would show up in her room. However, her instinct was telling her that she was related to it.

“Su Jin, thank you.” Li Qin Yao spoke. She gave the girl a look over and smiled.

Li Qin Yao had always liked Fang Su Jin.

The girl has been friends with her daughter since kindergarten. Unlike her daughter who was crazy about basketball, Fang Su Jin was gentler.

Li Qin Yao was also glad that someone like Fang Su Jin would continue to befriend her daughter.

Zhang Li Xue spent too many times playing basketball with her brother and the triplets. She used to worry that her daughter would not grow to be ladylike.

Growing up with Fang Su Jin around, the girls would sometimes discuss clothes, make-up, and things that girls liked to talk about.

.....

Li Qin Yao turned to her son and heaved a helpless sigh. She recalled the rumor that her husband had announced last night and was having a hard time believing it.

No matter what, Li Qin Yao did not believe that her son would do something like bring a girl to a hotel. She knew her son well. She believed that her son would not do such a thing.

Surely, there would be another explanation behind this.

The moment she entered the room, Li Qin Yao swept her gaze around the room and was confident that the matters that her husband was worried about did not happen.

Li Qin Yao took a sip from her drink and looked at the girl again. “Su Jin, come over and sit down.”

Fang Su Jin watched the strange atmosphere again. She sat down awkwardly and wondered what was going on.

Fortunately, she had changed her clothes and washed her face when Zhang Yi Hai came over. Otherwise, she would be too embarrassed to see the Zhang couple like this.

“Alright, hubby, you need to stop scaring Su Jin like this,” Li Qin Yao spoke after watching the situation for a while.

It was fine if her husband wanted to continue this staring game with their son. However, they could not do it in Fang Su Jin’s presence.

Zhang Yu Han retracted his gaze. He glanced at Fang Su Jin before turning to his son again. There were too many things that he wanted to say, but with Fang Su Jin around, Zhang Yu Han did not know where to start.

He turned to his wife and hoped that she would be able to help him in this situation.

Li Qin Yao chuckled when she met her husband’s gaze.

“Mom, Dad, I can explain,” Zhang Yi Hai spoke after a long silence. “I know what you might have heard, but that was not what had happened.”

Zhang Yu Han had already planned to let his wife handle this matter. But once his son started to speak up, the anger that he has been suppressing erupted.

“There was a lot of staff who saw you carrying a girl to the hotel last night,” Zhang Yu Han spoke. “Are you going to deny that?”

Fang Su Jin’s face turned pale when she heard those words.

It did not take her too long to figure out what was going on.

Zhang Yi Hai and her were together?

That’s ridiculous.

Zhang Yi Hai was the boy she had watched growing up, alright?

How was it possible for them to have an affair?

Fang Su Jin was having a hard time processing this information.

She turned to Zhang Yi Hai and saw that he was looking back at his father with a serious look on his face. Fang Su Jin felt guilty, knowing that she had caused him some trouble.

“Dad, it was a misunderstanding,” Zhang Yi Hai spoke. “Sister Fang was drunk last night. I helped her to return to her room.”

Zhang Yu Han looked at his son skeptically.

“Auntie, Uncle, that is the truth!” Fang Su Jin spoke quickly. The most important thing was to clean their name. “I drank a little bit last night and Zhang Yi Hai was only helping to send me back to the hotel. There’s nothing going on between us.”

“Then, how come the two of you are together?” Zhang Yu Han asked.

“Yesterday, sister Fang had an exhibition at the art gallery. Later, she ran into trouble and I came over to help.” Zhang Yi Hai began to tell his father what had happened last night and how he had to carry Fang Su Jin because she had fallen asleep and he was unable to wake her up.

“Dad, you have to believe me,” Zhang Yi Hai continued. “You can ask the receptionist girl who was on shift last night. I let the receptionist girl look after Sister Fang after sending her to the room.”

Zhang Yu Han considered his son’s words and decided to look for the receptionist girl that his son had mentioned.

Li Qin Yao patted her husband’s arms. “Alright. It was all a misunderstanding. I told you that there was no way that our son would do something like this.” She looked at her son and sighed. “Yi Hai, we’re sorry. Your father was just worried. Last night, when he received a call from one of the staff, he began to panic.”

Zhang Yu Han knew that he shouldn’t suspect his son. However, he could not sit still after the rumor had spread for the second time.

“You better go and tell the staff not to speak any nonsense,” Li Qin Yao reminded her husband. Then, she turned to Fang Su Jin again with an apologetic smile. “Su Jin, we would like to apologize to you as well. Some staff saw the two of you together and thought that Yi Hai has been acting wildly. This had implicated you as well.”

“Auntie, it’s fine. As long as you know the truth, this is all that matters,” Fang Su Jin said. She glanced at Zhang Yi Hai and continued, “I’m thankful that Yi Hai had helped me. I didn’t think that this had caused him trouble.”
