153 Parents-Teacher Meeting

Bai Qi leaned over and asked, “Why are you here?”

This was his little sister’s kindergarten and they were currently listening to the teacher’s briefing about the kids learning. Bai Qi could not think of any reason for his little fairy to appear at this site.

Unless of course, she had a child or someone that she knew in this kindergarten.

Zhang Li Xue chuckled. She was about to answer him when she noticed that a few young parents were looking in their direction. As the teacher was still talking, Zhang Li Xue thought that it was inappropriate for her to explain.

“It’s a long story,” Zhang Li Xue whispered back. “I will tell you later.”

Bai Qi frowned. But he also realized that the situation at this moment was not suitable. In the end, he had no choice but to keep his mouth shut and wait until the end of the briefing.

He turned to look at his little sister who was sitting obediently in her spot. Then, Bai QI raised his head to look at the teacher and he continued to listen to her briefing with a serious look on his face.

Throughout the meeting, the two of them did not chat but instead, continued to listen to Bai Xi Xi’s teacher attentively.

Zhang Li Xue stole a few glances at the man beside her and a faint smile curled on her lips.

.....

The reason she came to this meeting was for Bai Xi Xi. The little girl was worried that her brother would not be able to make it and had asked if she could come instead.

Zhang Li Xue did not want the little girl to feel lonely and decided to come.

Who would have thought that Bai Qi would still be able to make it to the meeting?

Judging by Bai Qi’s tired eyes and messy hair, Zhang Li Xue could guess that the man has been rushing over to attend this meeting. He was very busy with his work but he would still try to make time for Bai Xi Xi.

Zhang Li Xue could not help but thought that Bai Qi looked quite handsome with a serious look on his face at this moment.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Zhang Li Xue found that the siblings’ relationship was quite enviable.

The meeting lasted for another hour.

When it was done, Bai Xi Xi walked over to her brother with a guilty look on her face. She knew that she should have trusted her brother when he told her that he was going to make it to the meeting. But she was worried and had asked the pretty sister to come over as well.

Bai Xi Xi glanced at the two adults in front of her alternately. Then, her gaze rested on Zhang Li Xue. She blinked, hoping that the pretty sister would be able to protect her when her brother nagged her later.

“Xi Xi, you’re amazing,” Zhang Li Xue crouched down and patted the girl’s head gently. “Your teacher said, you are on top of your class.”

Bai Xi Xi had a shy smile on her face. “Pretty Sister, thank you.” Then, she turned to her brother and eyed him cautiously.

A helpless sigh escaped him. Bai Qi leaned over and patted his sister’s shoulder. “Mmm... You have done a great job. Later, I will treat you to eating noodles, alright?”

Her eyes lit up and Bai Xi XI began to smile brightly.

As there was still time before the school would end, Bai XI XI went back to her seat while both Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi left the classroom to walk around the school compound.

They reached to the playground area where a few parents were seen sitting there as they waited for their children.

Bai Qi glanced at the little fairy beside him and asked, “Did you come to the kindergarten for my little sister?”

Her steps halted. Zhang Li Xue turned around and nodded. “Mhm... Xi Xi said you have been quite busy recently. She worried that you were unable to make it and had asked me to come over. Bai Qi, don’t get angry at your little sister.”

Bai Qi was stunned, but it was only because his little fairy had called him by his name.

Although the two of them had agreed that they shouldn’t be too polite with each other, Bai Qi thought that he would still need time to get used to this.

He lowered his head to hide the shy look on his face and hummed in agreement.

Seeing that he had agreed, Zhang Li Xue finally heaved a sigh in relief. “Are you not busy today?”

“Doctor Qi heard that I was going to Xi Xi’s parents-teacher meeting and decided to give me half day off.”

“That’s good.”

“What about you? Are you not busy?”

“Mmm... I already applied for a day off today. So, I’m not that busy.”

Bai Qi could guess that the reason Zhang Li Xue had taken a day off was for his sister. “I’m sorry. We have troubled you.”

“It’s fine. We are friends, aren’t we? Besides, I really like Xi Xi as well.” Zhang Li Xue flashed a playful smile at him. “It gives me a chance to skip work as well.”

A helpless smile curled on his lips as he heard her words.

She looked around and inhaled a deep breath. “I just thought that it has been a long time since the last time I came to a kindergarten. You see, everything in this place was too tiny.”

There was a small bench at the side that would only be suitable for little kids to sit on. At the side, a big weeping willow stood tall, shading the area around it.

However, because she was not careful as she walked, Zhang Li Xue stumbled into a small rock and slipped. Fortunately, Bai Qi was quick enough to grab her.

He held her arms tightly and looked her in the eyes. “Are you alright?” Bai Qi recalled how Zhang Li Xue had sprained her ankle a few months ago and he became worried. He stared at her ankle, wanting to inspect it. “Did you hurt yourself?”

“I’m fine. Fortunately, you caught me just in time before something would happen to me.”

Hearing her answer, Bai Qi looked up again. Their gazes met again and Bai Qi quickly helped her up before letting her go.

They were too close that he could inhale her scent.

His heart was beating loudly and he had to look away to calm down.

“I seemed to have remembered something,” Zhang Li Xue spoke, getting Bai Qi’s attention again. “When I was looking at some old picture of me not too long ago, I stumbled into this one photo. Bai Qi, in the past, you have once dressed up as a tree, haven’t you?”

“Mmm...” Bai QI lowered his gaze. He could still remember how he had to dress up as a tree for their classroom’s performance. For him, it was an embarrassing memory. As a tree, he stood at the spot without doing anything. Later, he ended up dead when the woodcutter cut him.

“So I was right.” Her eyes lit up.

The photo she found did not capture Bai Qi’s face. However, Zhang Li Xue had always thought that the person dressed as a tree was very familiar.

Zhang Li Xue looked at Bai Qi with the big weeping willow behind him and thought that Bai Qi was really suitable to dress up as a tree. He was reliable and would shelter those who rested underneath his shades. He could really make one feel peaceful just by standing near him.

As the thought came to her mind, Zhang Li Xue could not help but smiled.
