135 The Passing Car

Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi were still talking about her body condition when they both heard the sound of footsteps. Knowing that her mother had returned, Zhang Li Xue leaned back on the sofa, while Bai Qi straightened up his posture.

Seeing the serious look on Bai Qi’s face almost made Zhang Li Xue laugh. Fortunately, she managed to stop herself before her mother entered the room.

Li Qin Yao appeared at the door and smiled upon noticing that her daughter. “Li Xue, you’re awake.” Her lips turned to a smile. “Look who’s here to visit you?”

Zhang Li Xue kept her gaze at the door. She could not hide her surprise upon seeing Fang Su Jin at the door. “Su Jin?”

The girl waved her hand awkwardly. Fang Su Jin was about to greet her friend when she noticed that Bai Qi was also in the room. She stared at the man for a few seconds longer, wondering what was he doing in the house.

“Su Jin, this is Doctor Bai.” Li Qin Yao decided to explain when noticed the look on Fang Su Jin’s face. “He came over to check on Li Xue and her brother.”

It was then that Fang Su Jin seemed to remember that Bai Qi was also Qi Zheng’s student.

“Su Jin, why are you here?”

Zhang Li Xue’s question snapped Fang Su Jin out of her thought. She looked at her friend again before she walked over. “Li Xue, I heard that you caught a cold. I come over to visit you.”

.....

“How do you know that I caught a cold?” Zhang Li Xue knew that she did not post anything about this on her social media. Therefore, she thought it was strange that Fang Su Jin had appeared suddenly.

Fang Su Jin coughed. “It’s a long story. I will tell you later.” The sound of a low grunt made her halt. She turned to the sound and finally realized that Zhang Yi Hai was also in the room.

“Mom?” Zhang Yi Hai was awakened by the sound of their voices. He stretched up his body and turned. Noticing that there were a few more people in the room made him pause.

“Yi Hai, did we wake you up?” Li Qin Yao walked over to her son’s side. She placed her palm on his forehead and sighed. “Your temperature is still a little high.”

Fang Su Jin lowered her gaze when she heard those words. She felt bad, knowing that he had caught a cold because of her. If he did not lend her his jacket, perhaps he would not be sick.

“Su Jin came over to visit your sister,” Li Qin Yao explained.

At this time, Zhang Yi Hai turned to look at Fang Su Jin. Their gazes met momentarily before Fang Su Jin looked away.

“Doctor Bai came over to check on both of you,” Li Qin Yao continued. “Your Uncle Qi Zheng had an important meeting. He could only let Doctor Bai come over.”

Zhang Yi Hai shifted his gaze to Bai Qi.

The two of them had met a few times before. Naturally, Zhang Yi Hai did not suspect anything when he saw the young doctor in the room.

The men exchanged a brief nod.

Bai Qi let out a cough before he picked up his bag and went to Zhang Yi Hai’s side to check on his condition.

“Alright, you guys talk first,” Li Qin Yao said. “I’ll go in the kitchen to check on the food first.” Without waiting for an answer, she then left.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned a little strange.

Fang Su Jin turned to her friend and asked, “Li Xue, how did you get a cold?”

The two friends began to chat while on the other side of the room, Bai Qi was asking Zhang Yi Hai a few questions about his symptoms.

After checking on Zhang Yi Hai, Bai Qi felt that it was not appropriate to stay over for too long. He picked up his bag and turned to Zhang Li Xue. “I should go now.”

“So soon?” Zhang Li Xue could not hide her surprise.

“Mmm... I still have to return to the hospital,” Bai Qi said. He gave his little fairy a quick nod before walking out of the room.

Seeing that the young doctor had left, Fang Su Jin decided that it was better if she leave as well. Otherwise, she will have to continue this awkward conversation with her friend.

Fang Su Jin pushed the paper bag in her hand to Zhang Li Xue and whispered, “Li Xue, help me to pass this to your brother.” She then fled without waiting for her friend’s reply.

Zhang Li Xue stared at the paper bag in her arms in puzzlement. She took out the jacket in the bag and realized that this jacket belonged to her brother.

But... why was her brother’s jacket with Fang Su Jin? And why did she ask her to pass it over to her brother?

She turned to her brother and asked, “Yi Hai, why did Su Jin have your jacket?”

Zhang Yi Hai glanced at the jacket and retracted his gaze. “I ran into Sister Fang yesterday. She met a few troublemakers and I helped her out of the situation. Later, when it rained, I lent the jacket to her.”

“So it’s like this.” Zhang Li Xue shoved the jacket back into the paper bag. She did not suspect anything or pondered over Fang Su Jin’s strange manners anymore.

...

Meanwhile, Fang Su Jin rushed over and finally caught up with Bai Qi. “Doctor Bai, wait up.”

Hearing her voice, Bai Qi paused and turned around. “Miss Fang, is there something that I can help you with?”

“Doctor Bai, are you heading back? How about if I give you a lift?”

“That won’t be necessary. I can call someone to pick me up.”

“Alright, let me be honest.” Fang Su Jin heaved a sigh. “I’m just looking for a reason to leave earlier. Otherwise, Auntie Li will definitely make me stay a while longer.” She did not want to stay longer around Zhang Yi Hai. It made her feel awkward.

Bai Qi frowned but did not say anything. But seeing that Fang Su Jin had begun to walk over to the door, he quickly followed.

“You guys are leaving?” Li Qin Yao asked when she saw the two of them together.

“Yes.” Bai Qi nodded. “Auntie, I still have to return to the hospital. Later, I will ask someone to deliver the medicine.”

Hearing that the young doctor still have to work, Li Qin Yao knew that she could not force him to stay.

“Auntie, I still have other chores to do,” Fang Su Jin said. “Doctor Bai came over by a taxi. I’ll give him a lift to the hospital on my way back.”

“Alright then,” Li Qin Yao did not think too much about this arrangement. She walked them both to the door and watch them leave.

Just as Fang Su Jin’s vehicle left, a Cayenne was seen driving into the compound.

Mu Zhen Yu was driving, heading to the residence when he noticed the car driving out. Just then, his eyes caught the sight of the man who was sitting in the passenger’s seat.

Suddenly, Mu Zhen Yu pressed the brake. He turned to look at the passing car again and frowned.

Somehow, he felt that the man in the passenger’s seat looked familiar...
