Little Miss Witch: Revenge of the Tainted Angel

Chapter 128 - My Sister… Have You Met Her? (2)

The apartment Mu Jianyu owned had four bedrooms with a nice and spectacular view that oversees the cityscapes. Although Mu Jianyu wasn't as wealthy as Li Xiuying he was able to sustain both of them and could provide Ying with a good life, better than the common citizens out there.

Li Chuntao had been living with him for a week with Yu Luo by her side. She had enough reasons to keep herself busy to avoid Mu Jianyu. She liked seeing the man looking frustrated whenever he attempted to get close to her.

Whether she was busy reading Ying's personal books, checking the paintings Ying had finished, she always found a reason to decline Mu Jianyu's company.

"I'm sorry, Jianyu. I just don't know how to cope with these sudden changes.." she once told him. "The last thing I remember is that I was driving with Brother Zichen. Next thing I know, I was in the hospital, being informed I've actually forgotten seven years of my life."

She shook her head and looked at him helplessly like a lost child.

"Jianyu, I don't know anymore. You said you are my husband but why does my mind and my heart refuse to accept who you are?"

Mu Jianyu didn't know what to say. No matter how many times he explained to her the past events between them, it' all pointless as she wouldn't believe him.

"Then… let me work hard to regain your trust and love," he told her.

"I expect nothing less, Jianyu," Li Chuntao hid the insidious smile on her face.

Just how long can he keep up with his lies?

"Why don't we take this slow, step by step, and see if we could start everything from scratch? There's no point in trying to force yourself to remember the memories from the past when we can always make new memories together?" Mu Jianyu suggested.

It wasn't actually a bad idea, now that Li Chuntao thought of it. For the first time, this man was talking some sense and not trying to make a fool of himself in front of her.

"Really? Can we really start anew? What about the past? What if I forgot something really important?" She bombarded him with questions, worriedly, making sure her fear and worries would make him surrender to her act.

"Ying," Mu Jianyu stepped forward, invading her space. He'd always kept his safe distance from her, to not make her uncomfortable, but lately, he was having this urge to have her in his arms. He wanted to have her, to kiss her but she wasn't allowing him to be close enough to touch her especially when Yu Luo was around.

---

The next few days remained the same and every passing day she spent time with Mu Jianyu was torture for Shen Zichen. When the day came that it was time for her to move in to Mu Jianyu's place, he never appeared on Li Chuntao's door again.

It was stupid to feel enraged and jealous. He knew this, but Shen Zichen still wasn't pleased with her plans even if it was just a temporary stay. She was his woman for fucking sake. Of course, he wouldn't be happy with it. For two weeks, he wasn't able to see her nor visit her and it was testing his patience already.

Shen Zichen now enjoyed his long shift at work. He thought that it would keep his mind preoccupied and not think of her, but it was futile. Usually, he would prefer the graveyard shift, it gave him time to think.

He strolled out to the hospital parking lot, ignoring the light drizzle that fell on his head. He had performed a number of surgeries for the past week and yet at the end of the day, his mind was still full of her.

Damn it, she had become some sort of an obsession to him and he knew it.

Her eyes, those large, doe-brown eyes which were filled with such coldness and mystery. It was of no use lying to himself when a single look from her could cause him to lose himself in it and never care about anything else. They were such compelling eyes that made him drawn to her.

Her fragrant unique scent was already embedded in his mind. Her tresses, so long and silky that it felt right on his fingers. Every time she was near him, he felt complete. He didn't care about what people think anymore.

For the life of him, he wasn't always aware of what was going on in her mind though. She always does what she wanted without explaining herself to anyone. How could he even influence her to leave Mu Jianyu?

It was absurd that he was thinking about her like this right now. When Ying married that excuse of a man, he didn't feel this kind of rage in his chest. Or maybe his hatred for the man was amplified now because it was his lover who willingly went to him.

He had two more surgeries left before his shift was up but he needed some air and time to himself. He reflected on their relationship. Yes, a relationship where they certainly couldn't go back to being just friends. Not when he was already aware of his feelings for her.

Shen Zichen could no longer lie to himself and say that he wasn't in love with her. Gods, he should have known… he should have realized this earlier. When she suddenly left years ago, the loss he'd felt was indescribable. It was as if someone took a part of him.

Li Chuntao wasn't telling him what was happening. He knew there was more to tell but she wasn't opening up to him. It wasn't necessary for him to pinpoint what could have changed her. Her past was her business and it wasn't his right to poke on it.

But three months were too long for his liking. What could be done to make it faster?

He forced himself to get his mind back on the issue. He needed to do something to make sure Li Chuntao wouldn't fall for Mu Jianyu at any rate and he couldn't wait too long just to see and have her back in his arms.

A thought crossed in his mind like someone just lit up a bulb, clearing out the thought that had been clouding his mind for weeks. He really liked this idea. How could he not think of this earlier?

This would not only surprise Li Chuntao, but also piss the hell out of Mu Jianyu.

He pulled out his phone from his lab coat and dialed Shen Lingqing's private number. He really needed his little sister's assistance right now. After three rings, his sister answered his call. He knew she was also still awake at this ungodly hour like him.

How could she when her mind was clearest when everyone's asleep?

"Zi Gege." Her voice sounded like she was preoccupied with something. "Do you need something?" She asked.

Not wasting time as always, she knew he needed something from her.

"Indeed. I would really appreciate it if you can help me with this."

That surely caught Shen Lingqing's attention as she leaned back in her seat and tapped her pen on her chin.

"Then tell me what's on your mind?"
