Gray and black mist gathered around Cyneah as the Macabre Glacier's sentient returned. It circled her a few times with its face frozen in a silent scream. After which, it retreated inside her, taking along the surrounding mist.
"Ugh..." Cyneah keeled over; her whole body felt like they were on fire. Still, she did her best to keep her connection with Lady Chrysanthemum and look at the silver figure. Doing this did not mean she would be able to see, but it would allow her to observe if the figure's light was something she could control.
Alas, when she used Lady Chrysanthemum's eyes to look at the silver figure's light, she failed to see it. Suddenly, she had a bad feeling, and her heart sank. She only ever knew one person who did not possess a light— no, it was not that that person did not have one, but that she could not see it.
Kyran.
Cyneah currently had no way of confirming if that figure was indeed Kyran. His presence had always been elusive to her senses, just as much as his light was to her sight. But the figure before her, though it did not have a light, its presence was there, and it was very oppressive. Nevertheless, there was something familiar about it, and she feared her instinct was correct.
In an instant, her mind was filled with different ideas— scenarios— she did not want to acknowledge. But one idea made a huge impression on her: running away.
However, Cyneah knew it was impossible, given her location. She prepared a route she could use to leave that hollow space, but she could not use it with the crowd above. After all, the route would lead her straight to the crater Kyran had created.
In the end, Cyneah decided to stay where she was and hoped the silver figure was not the person she believed it to be. If he was, she knew it would only be a matter of time before he appeared before her, and that was something she was not ready to face.
While thinking about this, Cyneah sensed more Armakeans regaining their conscience and activating their Divine Armaments to regain control over their bodies. Due to this, she coughed out another mouthful of blood.
Cyneah ultimately stopped the array formation because she could not afford to lose more blood. Besides, her venture had already failed. There was no point in controlling the enemy forces.
Kyran was surprised at how easily the three magical beasts submitted to him. Usually, he would have to subdue his targets before turning them into his Sigil. Then again, the pressure he exuded could have played a decisive role in making them submit without a fight.
Not that Kyran was complaining. The faster he could remove the three magical beasts in the picture, the faster he could stop this charade.
Pretending to be someone he was not had been a last-minute decision, and although he appeared to be doing just fine, the truth was the opposite. His current appearance was due to him releasing an additional 1% of the maximum Draconic magic he could utilize. Putting a more specific number to that, he was currently using 31% of Draconic magic.
A 1% addition might seem small, but the surge of Draconic magic energy coursing in Kyran's body was so powerful that he could barely contain it. And this was while his body had already undergone enhancements after drinking the Elixir.
Because of that additional energy, Kyran also had to exert extra effort in controlling his movement and using Draconic magic. After all, his current strength could easily destroy several mountains in one move. He did not want to unleash such a devastating move without a reason accidentally. Besides, he only had to put on this charade to stop Cyneah from using the Macabre Glacier.
With the threat of the magical beasts out of the picture, Kyran could now focus on the other matters at hand.
Kyran felt a searing hot pain at the back of his hand as the number of Sigils he had appeared was updated. Ignoring the pain, he willed the three magical beasts to stand aside so he could address the being behind them.
Lady Chrysanthemum stiffened as she saw the silver humanoid dragon look toward her. To be honest, she still felt disoriented and even angry after realizing someone had been controlling her movements. Unfortunately, before she could find who it was, the connection disappeared, and now she and the rest of the Armakeans were forced to face the silver humanoid dragon on their own.
Like the other Armakeans, they believed the one who controlled them just now and the one who unleashed the ominous hooded figure was the same person. Now that the silver humanoid dragon forced the figure to back off, the possibility that that person fled.
This assumption was not without basis. Now that they have regained control over their bodies, it was a possibility they had to consider.
In any case, while Lady Chrysanthemum wanted to catch the person who brazenly controlled her and kill it, she was not foolish enough to act when the silver humanoid dragon was before her.
Like the rest, she knew what a being like the one in front of her meant. She would never dare provoke it. Even the three magical beasts, who were under her magic just now— although she did it unwillingly— had completely submitted themselves before it.
"What are you?"
Lady Chrysanthemum blinked. The question raised by the silver humanoid dragon caught her off guard.
It was not only her. The rest of the Armakeans, even the Eidums, were dumbfounded. Nevertheless, some Armakeans believed they could use the silver humanoid dragon's apparent interest in Lady Chrysanthemum to their advantage.
Now that they had regained control over themselves, they realized their side was at a disadvantage. Obviously, the person who tried to control them was someone from the Eidums. Although such a move was unlike them, that was unimportant at the moment. What mattered to them was to shift the momentum back to their side, and if using the silver humanoid dragon was what it would take to accomplish that, they would do so.
Because Lady Chrysanthemum was stunned by the question, it took her a few seconds to process and react to it
"I-I'm sorry, Milord, I do not understand what you want to know— ack!"
An overwhelming pressure befell on Lady Chrysanthemum before she could complete what she wanted to say. She was forced to her knees as she sank to the ground a few inches from the pressure.
The expressions on all the Armakeans who had thought they could use the silver humanoid dragon's interest in Lady Chrysanthemum turned grim. They did not expect him to suddenly force her to her knees just because he disliked her answer.
"F-Forgive me, Milord! I-I am Chrysanthemum! One of the leaders of the Magical Beast Community!" Lady Chrysanthemum hastily replied, trying to salvage the situation. She truly did not understand why the silver humanoid dragon asked her what she was and thought it was alright to ask. After all, he did not force her into submission and even talked to her. From that, she was convinced he was lenient enough.
Alas, she was wrong, and because of it, she had suffered.
"Is that really what you are? A magical beast?"
Lady Chrysanthemum's eyes widened as she finally understood what the silver humanoid dragon wanted to ask. She slowly raised her head to look at him, ignoring the pressure that had yet to leave her.
"Milord..." She started. Fearing that he would punish her if she did not answer properly, she hastily said, "That is what we are known here."
When she had spoken these words, she used her native language.
A language she had thought she would never be able to use again.
Kyran's eyes narrowed. He was not knowledgeable about the Spirit language, but the few words he heard Chrysanthemum speak were one.
At the very least, he knew she did not speak the Somulian language just now.
"Then tell me what you are."
Kyran tried to use the Spirit language based on his memory and check if she would respond.
Lady Chrysanthemum's eyes turned glassy as she tried her best to hold back the tears that threatened to fall from them. She took a shaky breath and answered, "I am a Spirit, Milord."
After hearing Chrysanthemum's answer, Kyran did not hesitate to wave his hand and whisk her inside the Void World.
Everyone who saw this was frightened. They all believed Kyran had destroyed Lady Chrysanthemum with a wave of his hand.
Kyran turned his attention toward the rest of the Armakeans and then said with a voice that shook the whole land.
"You people brazenly used my kind to do your bidding. Any last words?"
RAWRGH!
ραndαsnοvεl.cοm The Comodo echoed Kyran as it buried its front claws on the ground.
Every Armakean turned pale at the realization.
