Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1213 - 1213: Something pretty rare though

[Rein’s POV: ]

“I think they noticed. I think they noticed us!” I could clearly see the Salamander of Captain Alpha peeking from the other side of the road.

There was also Luna’s shark on the other side of the road… how that fish swims on a road made of rocks is still beyond me!

They had scattered their familiars across the island of magic’s wealth when they got the information that we were on the airship. Med must have informed the people at the docks for this, that slay bitch.

“Should we run? We should, shouldn’t we?” We wanted to surprise them all by going there when they weren’t expecting.

It was a common tradition for friends to surprise one another when they come back from a vacation, right? I swear I heard it somewhere.

“Why do we have to do that though? Even if we don’t do anything, there’s no way they would know when we reach there.

They might have seen us but they won’t be seeing us coming to them. Besides, I know exactly where all of them are.” Eon smirked as he opened his eyes.

“Well, that’s true as well.”

He had been observing all of the familiars belonging to our dear friends: Luna’s shark, Alpha’s little fireball, Prince Alph’s cute turtle, Prince Claud’s familiar cat Ore, all the familiars including Tia’s wolf were keeping an eye on us ever since we arrived.

‘They must have been waiting for us, I understand that much, but what’s this surveillance?’

I didn’t like it when I saw Miss Ore right outside of the docks. It was as if they were trying to spy on us!

‘This was the very reason we decided to run away from them and their familiars, but they were still searching for us.’

The rest of them must have learned how to communicate with their familiars over a distance in this break time so they must be trying out all the things that they were doing.

The island of magic’s wealth was in teh process of getting ready to welcome the students once again.

Since the break was over and the students had started coming back, the preparations for reopening were happening all over the academy as well.

The island and the academy both seemed pretty high in spirit right now… people did not know why the dates for the reopening were pushed back, but it was still a good thing that the students had arrived.

‘The preparations that the shop owners around the island wasn’t going to be wasted at least.’

But that was something I shouldn’t be thinking about right now.

“So? Should we just go and surprise them right now?” Asking him with an excited smile, I looked through Branwen’s eyes.

He just obtained their location for them and was keeping an eye on them so I confirmed the location and what they were up to as well, and right after that, I nodded at him.

“Let’s just go. It doesn’t seem like they have prepared anything to welcome us at all.” Those cheeky friends of ours were not doing pretty much anything right now.

They were happily gossiping in our usual spot even though they had found out that we were here.

‘I guess they wanted to give us some rest time or something.’

How considerate of them, huh?

Still, it was best to not let us guard down around that bunch. I had trained some of them myself so I know they are pretty good at acting.

Some are a little too good and some backstabbing bastards like my dear Med could just be the one to surprise attack me this time.

So, let’s not take any risks anyway.

Eres blinked once again, utterly bewildered by not just the scenery around her but also by the people that stood around them.

Rain was the one who brought her here, his partner Zora was standing some distance away from here, a smile present on her face.

Miyu, the swordsman famous for her talent was also present here, her eyes focused on the angel that stood before her.

Genny wasn’t around, but Eres could feel the presence of two more individuals from nearby. She could tell that the entire unapprochable group except one that she remembered from the library was present here right now.

And since they seemed to be in on this whole plot, she could also tell what they had been up to this whole time.

“I see…”

A wide, grassy clearing stretched before her, bathed in the soft glow of what felt like perpetual twilight.

The trees at a distance, which had been pressing in on her just seconds ago, now formed a neat, protective ring around the edge. The air hummed with a quiet energy, a sense of peace she hadn’t felt since… well, she couldn’t remember when.

Behind her, almost comically out of place, stood a large tent. It wasn’t just any tent; it was a dorm tent, the kind you’d see at an expedition campsite. It was made of sturdy canvas, with a cheerful blue and green pattern. The door flap was slightly open, a sliver of golden light spilling out.

“Mr. Rain?” Eres called out, turning back to the abductor that had brought her here.

“I’ll leave it all up to him now.”

-Swish.

-Swiiiiiiish…

But Rain was gone by the time she turned back.

“…?”

Just vanished into fine air along with the companions that had gathered around her.

“What the hell?”

One second there, the next, only the whispering grass remained.

“I don’t like this… I thought it wasn’t going to happen thanks to the three of them. It has been fairly quiet for a while now.” Eres sighed, a knot of new boredom tightening in her throat.

She was alone once again at this vast expense with that one tent standing before her misteriously.

She did not want to do this. She had avoided that person ever since he caught her reading that children’s story book.

She liked those kinds of stories, those childish, pure things. She had never really experienced things like that, that fantasy was all simply too unfamiliar to her.

She did not understand how someone or something could be so simple yet liked by so many. Even in her world, young children read these stories before they even learned anything about magic.

Their mothers and elders would tell them about the heroes who save their princesses, the monsters who abduct the princesses, the stories where the children are saved by the bad people, and the same stories where witches are portrayed as evil or, in some rare cases, as old grandmothers with supernatural powers.

‘It’s ridiculous.’

She did not understand those things so she read about them in secret. It wasn’t embarrassing or anything but she did not want others, especially the few people that saw her for who she was, to find out about her secret hobby.

She did not like it, so when Wise saw her reading that, she just couldn’t pay any attention to him even if she wanted to.

She couldn’t care less about some random person finding out what she was reading but at the same time, she avoided him naturally.

Yet, somehow, thanks to the friends that he had, she was finding herself in this complicated situation.

“Hmmm…”

She waas in deep thought right now.

But then, a flash of white manifested before her.

“?”

From behind a cluster of wildflowers that came to life out of the blue at the edge of the clearing, a rabbit hopped out.

“Oh!”

Not just any rabbit, but the very one she’d been chasing was now standing before her.

“I see. This was all their doing from the start.”

Its nose twitched, it’s dark eyes gleaming with an almost mischievous intelligence. It wasn’t a real being, it was a creation of a Creator. A very good one, she must say.

-Swiiiiiiish…

The littel creature didn’t dart away, as she expected. Instead, it sat on its haunches, looked directly at her, and then hopped a few steps towards the tent.

“Muuu.”

It paused, as if waiting for her to follow.

“Cute.”

Eres hesitated for a moment. She did not like this kind of thing. She knew how they always turned out and she was already tired of other people forcing her into situations that she did not want to be in.

In the past, it was always others who would invite her to these private meethings. They wanted their powers, or perhaps they wanted her because of her powers.

In some cases, when they were focing her into these meetings, the teachers also had to step in because of the way they did this.

It was not appropriate, but she has gone through this multiple times now. Even right now, she wanted to stop, to step back and just go away.

She had the option to do so, to back off, to not go into that mesmarising, simple tent. She could do that…

But the rabbit’s steady gaze seemed to offer reassurance, a silent invitation. The choice which she was never given in similar situations in the past.

“Kinda bold, alright.”

Taking a deep breath, she followed behind the artificial creation as the rabbit hopped closer to the tent, then it darted inside.

The opening of the tent was simple. The curtains were made of a normal looking fabric, it wasn’t lavish, certainly nothing too expensive looking. She liked the fact that he had kept things simple for her, at least he wasn’t showing off the wealth that his family possessed.

It was simple, and she liked it this way.

Eres reached the opening, her heart pounding in her chest. She took another deep breath and stepped inside.

“Welcome, Lady Ereshkigal.”
